MT 1671 DESCRIPTION OF THIS PRODUCT DESCRIPCIÓN DEL PRODUCTO Display Field Pantalla (display) IB MT 1671 EN-ES 5209 DIGITAL COMPACT THERMOMETER TERMÓMETRO DIGITAL COMPACTO ON/OFF button Botón de puesta en marcha Measuring sensor Sensor de medición IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS • The thermometer is suitable exclusively for measurement of the body temperature! • The battery cover is sonic-welded with the main housing of the thermometer; the battery is well sealed inside the thermometer to reduce the risk to be swallowed by children. • Protect the thermometer from hitting and striking! • Avoid ambient temperatures above 60 °C. NEVER boil the thermometer! • Use only the commercial disinfectants listed in the section «cleaning and disinfecting» to clean the thermometer. The thermometer must be intact when immersed in liquid disinfectant. • The manufacturer recommends to verify the accuracy by an authorised laboratory every 2 years. Batteries and electronic instruments must be disposed of in accordance with the locally applicable regulations, not with domestic waste. TURNING ON THE THERMOMETER To turn on the thermometer, push the button on top; the display test is performed. All segments should be displayed. Then at an ambient temperature of less than 32 °C, an «L» and a «°C» flashes at the upper right of the display field. The thermometer is now ready for use. USING THE THERMOMETER Choose the preferred measuring method. During a measurement, the current temperature is displayed continuously. The «°C» symbol flashes during this period of time. If the «°C» is no longer flashing, this means that the measured increase in temperature is now less than 0.1 °C in 16 seconds and that the thermometer is ready for reading. To prolong the life of the battery, turn it off after use by pressing the operating button briefly. Otherwise the thermometer will automatically turn off after about 10 minutes. STORAGE OF MEASURED VALUES If you hold the button down for more than 3 seconds when turning the thermometer on, the maximum temperature stored automatically at the last measurement will be displayed. At the same time, a small «M» for memory will appear at the right of the display. After 3 more seconds, this value will disappear and the thermometer will switch to the normal measurement mode. Then the stored value is erased. MEASURING METHODS In the mouth (oral) Position the thermometer in one of the two pockets under the tongue, to the left or right of the root of the tongue. The measuring sensor must be in good contact with the tissue. Close your mouth and breathe evenly through the nose to prevent the measurement from being influenced by inhaled/exhaled air. Approx. measuring time: 1 minute. In the anus (rectal) This is the most reliable measuring method, and is especially appropriate for infants and small children. Carefully insert the tip of the thermometer 2 to 3 cm into the anal aperture. Approx. measuring time: 1 minute! INSTRUCCIONES DE SEGURIDAD IMPORTANTES • El termómetro debe usarse únicamente para medir la temperatura corporal. • El termómetro contiene pequeñas piezas (pila,etc.) que un niño podría ingerir con facilidad. PUESTA EN MARCHA DEL TERMÓMETRO Para conectar el termómetro, pulse el botón superior; en este momento el termómetro realiza un test para comprobar el buen funcionamiento del display. Todos los iconos deben aparecer en la pantalla. A temperatura ambiente inferior a 32 °C, aparecen en la parte superior derecha del display una «L» fija y una «°C» parpadeante. El termómetro está listo para ser usado. MEDICIÓN DE LA TEMPERATURA Elija el método de medición preferido. Durante la medición, a medida que va subiendo la temperatura, ésta va apareciendo en el display. El símbolo «°C» parpadea durante todo este tiempo. Si la «°C» ya no parpadea, significa que la variación de temperatura detectada ahora, no ha sido superior a 0.1 °C durante 16 segundos y ya se puede leer la temperatura obtenida en la medición. Una vez terminada la medición, es aconsejable apagar el termómetro para prolongar, así, la vida de la pila. Para apagarlo, sólo tiene que pulsar el botón durante unos instantes. En cualquier caso, el termómetro se apaga automáticamente transcurridos 10 minutos, aproximadamente. MEMORIA DEL VALOR MEDIDO Si al poner en marcha el termómetro, mantiene la presión sobre el botón durante 3 segundos, aparece automáticamente la temperatura máxima registrada en la última toma. A la derecha del visor aparecerá también una pequeña «M» parpadeante para indicar que es la temperatura memorizada. Pasados otros 3 segundos, el valor desaparecerá y el termómetro queda en el modo de medición normal. El valor antes memorizado es borrado. TIPOS DE MEDICIÓN En la boca (vía oral): Coloque el termómetro en una de las dos bolsas situadas debajo de la lengua, a la derecha o a la izquierda de la raíz de la lengua. El sensor de medición tiene que estar en buen contacto con el tejido. Cierre la boca y respire tranquilamente por la nariz para evitar que la medición se vea influenciada por el aire inhalado/exhalado. Duración aprox. de la medición: ¡1 minuto!. In the armpit (axillary) From a medical viewpoint, this method will always provide inaccurate readings, and should not be used if precise measurements are required. Approx. measuring time: 5 to 10 minutes! CLEANING AND DISINFECTING Name: Isopropyl alcohol 70 %; immerse: max. 24 hours. BATTERY EXHAUSTION When the «▼» symbol (upside-down triangle) appears in the lower right of the display, the battery is exhausted and thermometer needs to be replaced.
