Warning Labels

Prior to operating the unit, read and understand completely this

owner’s manual paying special attention to warning labels. These

labels indicate a potentially hazardous situation that could result

in death or serious injury if not avoided. Use only as described in

this manual.

Important

There are no owner serviceable parts inside this machine.

Removal of screws and accessing internal components will

void all warranty claims.

Your new Powr-Flite unit is a high quality, precision-made product. All parts used in

the manufacturing of this unit have passed rigid quality control standards prior to

assembly. Please safeguard the original receipt/invoice given at the time of purchase.

If you experience any problems with your unit during the warranty period, the original

receipt/invoice will act as proof of purchase.

Upon receipt, inspect outer box for exterior damage. Unpack all internal parts,

ensure all items are present according to the owner’s manual, and review

components for damage.

Each unit is tested and thoroughly inspected prior to shipping. If damage is

discovered, immediately notify the transportation company that delivered your

machine and request an inspection. As a manufacturer, we are unable to act upon

any claim for concealed damage and you must originate the claim. Be sure to keep

the carton, packing inserts, and carrier’s receipt until the inspector has verified

your claim.

WARNING!

Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of

electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt

as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. DO NOT modify the plug provided

with the vacuum. If it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a

qualified electrician.

This vacuum cleaner must be grounded. If it should malfunction or break down,

grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk

electric shock. This vacuum cleaner is equipped with a cord having an equipment-

grounding conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an

appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local

codes and ordinances.

This vacuum cleaner is for use on a nominal 115-volt circuit and has a ground plug

(see illustration). Make sure that the vacuum is connected to an outlet having the

same configuration as the plug. No adapter should be used with this vacuum.

3 On the PV100-W14-U this is an On indicator light below.

On the PV130-W14-U this is a quiet mode switch instead of an indicator. When

in a noise sensitive area, press the quiet mode switch forward. The power will

decrease to approximately 70%, thereby reducing the noise of the unit. After you

have left the noise sensitive area, press the quiet mode switch backwards to return

the unit to full power.

NOTE: The unit remains in the quiet mode until the full power mode is selected.

NOTE: The PV130-W14-U comes with (2) plastic extension wands as well as a

re-usable cloth bag w/clamp. The re-usable cloth bag can be ordered as an

optional item for the PV100-W14-U.

OPERATION

Before Using Your Unit

For The First Time

Attaching the handle to the vacuum.

The vacuum cleaner and the handle are

packed separately.

1. After first removing the handle

screw, position the handle behind the

vacuum cleaner and level with the

top of the unit. Hold the power cord

down and away from the vacuum

while the handle is being attached.

Make sure that the switch on the

handle is positioned toward the front

of the vacuum cleaner.

2. On the bottom of the handle are two

“T-shaped” rails that slide forward

onto two guides located on the top

of the vacuum cleaner. Line up the

handle so that the “T” rails will slide

into the guides and push the handle

forward.

3. Insert the handle screw and tighten

securely.

4. Turn the upper cord storage hook

to the upright position and wind the

power cord around the cord storage

hooks when storing the vacuum

cleaner.

Unwinding The Power Cord

The upper cord hook rotates to allow for

quick access to the power cord.

OPERATION

Connect The Power Cord

Attach the extension cord (provided) to

the pigtail on the vacuum. Ensure all cord

connections are made using the cord lock

system that comes with the vacuum.

1. To start the vacuum cleaner, flip the

“on / off” switch located on the handle

to the “on” position.

2. To stop the vacuum cleaner, flip the

“on / off” switch to the “off” position

3. Turn the vacuum cleaner off before

unplugging from electrical outlet.

1. To start the vacuum cleaner, flip the

“on / off” switch located on the handle

to the “on” position.

2. To stop the vacuum cleaner, flip the

“on / off” switch to the “off” position.

3. Turn the vacuum cleaner off before

unplugging from electrical outlet.

OFF

There is a quiet mode switch instead of an

For carpet cleaning, slide the

carpet / floor selector toward the back

of the nozzle so that it reads “Carpet”.

Vacuuming Hard Surfaces

and Using Tools

PV130-W14-U

To prevent brushroll from spinning when

cleaning bare floors or using tools, slide

the carpet / floor selector toward the

front of the nozzle so that it reads “Floor

& Tools”.

Carpet Height Adjustment

Your Powr-Flite upright vacuum cleaner is

designed with an automatic self-adjusting

rug nozzle. No manual adjustments are

required. The height of the rug nozzle

is instantly and automatically adjusted

to carpet pile height. This self-adjusting

feature allows the rug nozzle to float

evenly over all carpet pile surfaces.

OPERATION

Vacuuming Under Furniture

Your unit will lay flat on the floor for

effective cleaning under beds and

tables.

1. Press the foot pedal release once for

normal vacuum cleaning.

2. Press the foot pedal release a

second time to enable the vacuum

to lay flat on the floor.

Carrying The Vacuum

To safely transport your vacuum,

especially when carrying the vacuum

up and down stairs, use the carry

handle.

ATTACHMENT CLEANING

Wand Cleaning

With the on-board cleaning tools and

vacuum wand, your unit becomes a

comprehensive cleaning system.

The models equipped with on-board

tools include an upholstery tool, dusting

brush, crevice tool, extension wand and

stretch hose. The PV130-W-14-U also

comes with (2) extra plastic extension

wands that can be added to the

telescopic wand to extend the reach for

cleaning higher up.

1. Remove the telescopic wand from the

body of the vacuum.

2. Extend the wand by pushing the

button forward and pulling the

smaller wand out of the larger wand.

3. Attach any of the on-board tools

to the end of the wand or if you do

not need the wand, any tool can be

connected directly onto the hose.

ATTACHMENT CLEANING

Fast Task™ Cleaning Tools

Your vacuum is equipped with a dusting

brush, upholstery brush and crevice

tool. Other tools are available at your

authorized retailer.

Remove the cleaning wand from the

vacuum (PV130-W14-U only, turn the

carpet / floor selector to the “Floor &

Tools” position, see page 12).

Insert any of the tools onto the end of

the wand.

Dusting Brush

Ideal for table tops, shelves, blinds or hard

surface floors.

Upholstery Tool

Ideal for soft surfaces like chairs and

couches. Remove the dusting brush clip

for upholstery cleaning.

Crevice Tool

Ideal for tight places like between seat

cushions or corners.

Adjusting The Suction

Power For Tool Cleaning

On the back of the vacuum, locate

the suction control dial and turn it

to the desired position. This reduces

the suction power coming through

the hose. Close the suction control

dial when finished to restore full

suction power.

WARNING: PV100-W14-U

There is no way to turn the brushroll off.

Therefore, when using the cleaning tools

it is important to keep your vacuum from

running in the same spot for a period of

time, as carpet or flooring damage could

result. If you need to keep the vacuum in

the same spot for a period of time, such

as at the base of the stairs when cleaning

the stairs, place something, like a flattened

cardboard box, under the vacuum to

prevent damage to the floor.

When to Change the Vacuum

Bag/Full Bag Indicator Light

The full bag indicator light is designed to

show when the bag is full or when there is

a clog in the vacuum.

The system measures airflow and alerts

the user when airflow is significantly

reduced – most commonly from full bags

and clogs.

The light could also come on when

vacuuming fine powders such as flour or

drywall dust. These materials can quickly

block the bag pores, significantly reducing

airflow before the bag appears to be full.

The vacuum bag should still be changed.

The light could also come on during

attachment cleaning.

NOTE: The vacuum bags are disposable

and intended to only be used once. Do not

attempt to reuse as suction and filtration

performance would be greatly reduced.

PV130-W14-U

A re-usable shake out bag is included with

this model. When the bag is full, the bag

full indicator light is illuminated. Remove

the bag and slide the clamp off and

dispose of dirt in trash receptacle. Before

replacing clamp, tap the bag to loosen

and remove any dirt still remaining. You

can also use the dusting brush to brush

the inside of the re-usable cloth bag,

removing as much dust as possible.

When using the re-usable cloth bag it

should be replaced at least every six

months.

Replacing The Vacuum Bag

1. Open the bag compartment lid.

2. Remove vacuum bag by pulling

bag collar off the bag holder.

3. Attach the new vacuum bag onto

the bag holder.

4. Tuck the bag corners into the

vacuum before replacing the bag

compartment lid.

5. Replace lid and press onto vacuum

until it snaps into place.

MAINTENANCE AND CARE

When To Change The Filters

At minimum, it’s recommended to

replace the filters once a year or

after using twelve vacuum bags,

whichever comes first.

If someone in your household is

highly sensitive to airborne allergens,

it is recommended to change the

filter set after every six vacuum bags.

Replacing The HEPA Post Filter

1. Open the bag compartment lid and

locate the post filter on the inside

base of the cover.

2. Remove the used filter and throw

away.

3. Press new HEPA post filter into

place on the inside base of cover.

4. Close the bag compartment lid.

NOTE: Post filters cannot be washed.

MAINTENANCE AND CARE

Replacing The Secondary Filter

The secondary filter protects the motor

from dust and dirt. Before installing

a new vacuum bag, check the filter.

Accumulated dirt in the bag compartment

will be collected on this filter and may

restrict motor performance when the filter

becomes dirty.

1. Open the bag compartment lid and

locate the secondary filter on the

bottom of the bag compartment.

2. Remove secondary filter from the

bottom of the bag compartment.

3. The foam secondary filter can be

washed and reused. If washed, make

sure the filter is completely dry before

reinstalling.

4. Insert the new filter by sliding it under

the bag support.

5. Close the bag compartment lid.

Bottom Plate

CAUTION: Disconnect the vacuum

cleaner from the electrical outlet

before removing the bottom plate.

1. Depress handle release pedal twice

and place the vacuum cleaner in the

low position.

2. Turn vacuum cleaner over, exposing

the underside.

3. Slide locking latch to the right.

4. Press tabs inward on each side and

pull bottom plate off.

5. Reinstall by placing lower edge of

bottom plate along lower edge of

nozzle. Snap plate into place. Slide

locking latch to the left to secure.

Replacing The Agitator Belt

NOTE: To ensure maximum cleaning

efficiency, the condition of the belt

should be checked regularly. If belt is

stretched, cracked or if excessive slipping

is occurring, replace the belt.

1. Disconnect the vacuum cleaner from the

electrical outlet.

2. Turn the unit over and remove the

bottom plate (See "Removing and

reinstalling bottom plate").

3. Remove agitator and worn or broken

belt.

4. Loop the new belt around the motor

drive shaft and the agitator pulley.

5. Reinstall the agitator into the housing

while making sure that the positioning

fork faces down and straddles the

support guide.

6. Rotate agitator pulley, making sure that

the belt is not twisted.

7. Reinstall bottom plate (See “Removing

and reinstalling bottom plate”).

efficiency, the condition of the belt should

be checked regularly. If belt is stretched,

cracked or if excessive slipping is occurring,

replace the belt.

1. Disconnect the vacuum cleaner from the

electrical outlet.

2. Turn the unit over and remove the

bottom plate (See “Removing and

reinstalling bottom plate”).

3. Move carpet / floor selector to the

“Floor & Tools” position.

4. Rotate belt so that the linkage rod can be

removed. Slide linkage rod out and move

the carpet / floor selector to “Carpet”

position and let rod rest behind brushroll

compartment.

5. Remove agitator and worn or broken

belt.

6. Loop the new belt around the motor

drive shaft and the agitator pulley.

7. Reinstall the agitator into the housing

while making sure that the positioning

fork faces down and straddles the

support guide.

8. Reinstall linkage rod by moving carpet/

floor selector to the “Floor & Tools”

position.

9. Rotate belt away from linkage rod, then

install linkage rod into agitator.

10. Rotate agitator pulley, making sure that

the belt is not twisted.

11. Reinsert the vented support fitting.

12. Reinstall bottom plate (See “Removing

and reinstalling bottom plate”).

MAINTENANCE AND CARE

Edge Cleaning

The edge cleaning feature provides for

improved cleaning of carpets near walls

and stationary furniture. For maximum

edge cleaning, place the right side of the

nozzle against the wall or furniture.

PROBLEM SOLVING GUIDE

Unclogging Nozzle And Hose

CAUTION: Disconnect the vacuum

cleaner from the electrical outlet before

cleaning nozzle housing.

The nozzle hose, located on the back

of the vacuum, carries the dirt from the

nozzle to the vacuum bag. The hose also

functions as the attachment cleaning

hose. First check to see that a bag is

installed or that the bag has not broken

open.

If The Hose Should

Become Clogged

1. Pull out and turn the lid of the cleaning

attachment opening. Remove the clog

or blockage.

2. Remove the hose cuff from the nozzle

inlet and check for clog.

3. Turn unit over and remove bottom

plate (See “Removing and reinstalling

bottom plate”). Check the nozzle inlet

tube for obstructions. Clear tube and

reinstall the bottom plate.

PROBLEM SOLVING GUIDE

Thermal Motor Protection

Your unit is equipped with a

safeguard to recognize when the

vacuum heats up and shuts itself

down to protect your vacuum cleaner.

Common reasons why a vacuum may

overheat include operating a vacuum

with a full bag or when there is a clog

in the vacuum.

1. Unplug the vacuum.

2. Inspect your vacuum for a full

bag condition or a hose clog and

correct the problem. Locate the

Thermal Motor Reset button on the

back of the vacuum. Press button

and resume vacuuming.

3. If problem continues, contact your

Authorized Distributor.

1. Después de quitar primero el tornillo

dos rieles en “forma de T” que se

limpieza completo.

Los modelos equipados con

extensible. El modelo PV130-W-14-U

también viene con (2) varillas plásticas

succión para la limpieza

En la parte posterior de la aspiradora,

localice el anillo de alivio de succión

y gírelo a la posición deseada. Esto

reduce la potencia de succión que

llega a través de la manguera. Cierre

el anillo de alivio de succión cuando

haya terminado para recuperar toda la

potencia de succión.

ADVERTENCIA: PV100-W14-U

No hay forma de apagar el cepillo

giratorio. Por lo tanto, cuando use las

herramientas de limpieza, es importante

evitar que la aspiradora funcione en

el mismo lugar durante un período de

tiempo, ya que podría dañar la alfombra

o el piso. Si necesita mantener la

aspiradora en el mismo lugar durante un

período de tiempo, como en la base de

las escaleras cuando las limpie, coloque

algo, como una caja de cartón aplanada,

debajo de la aspiradora para evitar dañar

el piso.

Cuándo cambiar la bolsa

de la aspiradora/luz

La luz indicadora de bolsa llena está

diseñada para mostrar cuando la bolsa está

llena o cuando hay una obstrucción en la

aspiradora.

El sistema mide el flujo de aire y alerta al

usuario cuando el flujo de aire se reduce

significativamente, más comúnmente

debido a bolsas llenas y obstrucciones.

La luz también podría encenderse al aspirar

polvos finos como harina o polvo de

paneles de yeso. Estos materiales pueden

bloquear rápidamente los poros de la bolsa,

reduciendo significativamente el flujo de

aire antes de que la bolsa parezca estar

llena. La bolsa de la aspiradora se debe

cambiar de todos modos.

La luz también podría encenderse durante

la limpieza de los accesorios.

NOTA: Las bolsas de la aspiradora son

desechables y están diseñadas para usarse

una sola vez. No intente reutilizarlas ya que

el rendimiento de aspiración y filtración se

reduciría considerablemente.

PV130-W14-U Con este modelo se

incluye una bolsa reutilizable para sacudir.

Cuando la bolsa está llena, se enciende

la luz indicadora de bolsa llena. Retire la

bolsa, deslice la abrazadera y deseche la

suciedad en un receptáculo de basura.

Antes de reemplazar la abrazadera,

golpee ligeramente la bolsa para aflojarla

y eliminar cualquier resto de suciedad.

También puede usar el cepillo para polvo

para cepillar el interior de la bolsa de tela

reutilizable, eliminando la mayor cantidad

de polvo posible.

Si se utiliza la bolsa de tela reutilizable,

debe cambiarla al menos cada seis meses.

Cómo reemplazar la

bolsa de la aspiradora

1. Abra la tapa del compartimento de

la bolsa.

2. Quite la bolsa de la aspiradora

tirando del collar de la bolsa para

sacarla del soporte de la bolsa.

3. Coloque la nueva bolsa de la

aspiradora en el soporte de la bolsa.

4. Meta las esquinas de la bolsa en la

aspiradora antes de volver a colocar

la tapa del compartimiento de la

bolsa.

5. Vuelva a colocar la tapa y presione

sobre la aspiradora hasta que encaje

en su lugar.

MANTENIMIENTO Y CUIDADO

Cuándo cambiar los filtros

Como mínimo, se recomienda

reemplazar los filtros una vez al

año o después de usar 12 bolsas de

aspiradora, lo que suceda primero.

Si alguien en su hogar es muy

sensible a los alérgenos en el aire, se

recomienda cambiar el juego de filtros

cada seis bolsas de la aspiradora.

filtro posterior HEPA

1. Abra la tapa del compartimento de

la bolsa y ubique el filtro posterior

en la base interior de la cubierta.

2. Retire el filtro usado y deséchelo.

3. Presione el nuevo filtro posterior

HEPA en su lugar en la base interior

de la cubierta.

4. Cierre la tapa del compartimento de

la bolsa.

NOTA: Los filtros posteriores no se

pueden lavar.

Cómo reemplazar el

filtro secundario

El filtro secundario protege el motor del

polvo y la suciedad. Antes de instalar

una nueva bolsa de la aspiradora, revise

el filtro. La suciedad acumulada en el

compartimento de la bolsa se acumulará en

este filtro y puede restringir el rendimiento

del motor cuando se ensucie el filtro.

1. Abra la tapa del compartimento de la

bolsa y coloque el filtro secundario en la

parte inferior del compartimento de la

bolsa.

2. Retire el filtro secundario de la parte

inferior del compartimiento de la bolsa.

3. El filtro secundario de espuma se puede

lavar y reutilizar. Si se lava, asegúrese de

que el filtro esté completamente seco

antes de volver a instalarlo.

4. Inserte el nuevo filtro deslizándolo por

debajo del soporte de la bolsa.

5. Cierre la tapa del compartimento de la

bolsa.

Cómo extraer y volver a

instalar la placa inferior

PRECAUCIÓN: Desconecte la

aspiradora del tomacorriente antes de

retirar la placa inferior.

1. Presione el pedal de liberación

del mango dos veces y coloque la

aspiradora en la posición baja.

2. Dé vuelta la aspiradora, dejando al

descubierto la parte inferior.

3. Deslice el pestillo de bloqueo hacia la

derecha.

4. Presione las lengüetas hacia adentro

en cada lado y extraiga la placa

inferior.

5. Vuelva a instalar colocando el borde

inferior de la placa inferior a lo largo

del borde inferior de la boquilla.

Encaje la placa en su lugar. Deslice el

pestillo de bloqueo hacia la izquierda

para asegurarlo.

MANTENIMIENTO Y CUIDADO

Cómo reemplazar la correa

del agitador PV100-W14-U

NOTA: para garantizar la máxima

eficiencia de limpieza, la condición de la

correa debe revisarse periódicamente. Si

la correa está estirada, agrietada o si se

desliza demasiado, reemplácela.

1. Desconecte la aspiradora del

tomacorriente.

2. Dé vuelta la unidad y retire la placa

inferior (consulte "Cómo extraer y

volver a instalar la placa inferior").

3. Retire el agitador y la correa desgastada

o rota.

4. Enrolle la nueva correa alrededor del eje

de transmisión del motor y la polea del

agitador.

5. Vuelva a instalar el agitador en la

carcasa mientras se asegura de que

la horquilla de posicionamiento esté

orientada hacia abajo y se extienda

sobre la guía de soporte.

6. Gire la polea del agitador, asegurándose

de que la correa no esté torcida.

7. Vuelva a instalar la placa inferior

(consulte “Cómo extraer y volver a

instalar la placa inferior”).

Cómo reemplazar la correa

del agitador PV130-W14-U

NOTA: para garantizar la máxima eficiencia

de limpieza, la condición de la correa debe

revisarse periódicamente. Si la correa está

estirada, agrietada o si se desliza demasiado,

reemplácela.

1. Desconecte la aspiradora del tomacorriente.

2. Dé vuelta la unidad y retire la placa inferior

(consulte "Cómo extraer y volver a instalar

la placa inferior").

3. Mueva el selector de alfombras/pisos a la

posición “Piso y herramientas”.

4. Gire la correa para que se pueda quitar la

barra de acoplamiento. Deslice la barra

de acoplamiento hacia afuera, mueva el

selector de alfombras/pisos a la posición

"Alfombra" y deje descansar la barra detrás

del compartimento del cepillo giratorio.

5. Retire el agitador y la correa desgastada o

rota.

6. Enrolle la nueva correa alrededor del eje

de transmisión del motor y la polea del

agitador.

7. Vuelva a instalar el agitador en la carcasa

que la correa no esté torcida.

Limpieza de bordes

La función de limpieza de bordes mejora

la limpieza de alfombras cerca de paredes

y muebles fijos. Para lograr una máxima

limpieza de los bordes, coloque el lado

derecho de la boquilla contra la pared o

los muebles.

Cómo desatascar la

boquilla y la manguera

PRECAUCIÓN: Desconecte la aspiradora

del tomacorriente antes de limpiar la

carcasa de la boquilla.

La manguera de la boquilla, ubicada

en la parte posterior de la aspiradora,

transporta la suciedad desde la boquilla

hasta la bolsa de la aspiradora. La

manguera también funciona como

manguera de limpieza del accesorio.

Primero verifique que haya una bolsa

instalada o que la bolsa no se haya roto.

Si la manguera se atasca

1. Extraiga y gire la tapa de la abertura

del accesorio de limpieza. Retire la

obstrucción o el bloqueo.

2. Extraiga el manguito de la manguera

de la entrada de la boquilla y

compruebe si hay obstrucciones.

3. Dé vuelta la unidad y retire la placa

inferior (consulte "Cómo extraer y

volver a instalar la placa inferior").

Compruebe si hay obstrucciones en el

tubo de entrada de la boquilla. Limpie

el tubo y vuelva a instalar la placa

inferior.

Protección térmica del motor

Su unidad está equipada con una

protección para reconocer cuando

la aspiradora se calienta y se

apaga para protegerla. Las razones

comunes por las que una aspiradora

puede sobrecalentarse incluyen: el

funcionamiento de una aspiradora

con una bolsa llena o la existencia de

una obstrucción en la aspiradora.

1. Desenchufe la aspiradora.

2. Inspeccione la aspiradora para

ver si la bolsa está llena o si la

manguera está obstruida, y corrija

el problema. Localice el botón de

reinicio de la protección térmica del

motor en la parte posterior de la

aspiradora. Presione el botón y siga

aspirando.

3. Si el problema continúa,

comuníquese con su distribuidor

autorizado.

3. Utilice siempre bolsas, filtros y piezas originales, ya que el uso de otros productos

puede dar lugar a una limpieza o filtración deficiente. Los productos de filtración

4. Haga revisar la máquina periódicamente por un centro de servicio autorizado.

5. Guarde la máquina cuidadosamente en un área seca.
