HOW TO USE
CARE AND CLEANING
This appliance is equipped with an ESP
®
Electric Shock Protector
™
, specifically engineered for safety. It is for household use and may
be plugged into any AC electrical outlet (ordinary household current). Do not use any other electrical outlet.
HOW ESP
®
WORKS
This unit is provided with an appliance leakage current interrupter (ALCI) safety device built into the plug. This device will make it
inoperable under some abnormal conditions, such as accidental immersion in water. If the appliance is immersed in water, do not
attempt to reset the ALCI safety device. Please take the unit to the nearest service facility for examination.
The ALCI safety device is equipped with a test button so that its operation can be checked.
TO USE:
1. Press the reset button on the ALCI safety device.
2. Plug appliance into AC electrical outlet.
3. Then press the test button. The reset button will pop out. This verifies that the safety device is operating properly. Should the reset
button not pop out, do not use the unit. Return immediately for service.
4. Press the reset button to re-activate the ALCI safety device and use the appliance.
Repeat the above procedure each time this appliance is used to confirm that the safety device is operational.
At any time, should this unit detect an electrical shock hazard, it will immediately shut off. To restore power, the reset button on the
ALCI safety device must be pressed to reactivate the circuit.
IMPORTANT: Never block air intake grille, as this will cause the unit to overheat. Should this happen, a built-in safety system will
operate, and the unit will shut off automatically. At this point, turn the switch to Off and wait a while before attempting to operate
appliance again. If the unit fails to operate after 10 minutes, it may indicate that the appliance has sustained extensive internal
damage.
Do not try to repair it yourself. Take it to an electrical service facility, or return it to the manufacturer. See warranty for instructions.
CAUTION: Heating section should never be touched as it may be hot and burns may occur.
To avoid possible scalp or hair burns, use very hot setting only when hair is wet. Reduce to lower heat as your hair dries.
Do not keep appliance directed at one place; keep it in constant motion. This is especially important if drying a wig, which could be
damaged by heat.
For maximum airflow, hold dryer no closer to the head than six inches.
SPECIAL ATTENTION: This appliance is designed with a protective coating around the heating coils. When operating the first few
times, there may be momentary smoking when unit is switched OFF. This represents no danger to the user and does not indicate a
defect in the unit. This smoke should dissipate within a short time.
To extend the life of the dryer, it is advisable to switch it to the coolest setting for a few seconds before shutting it off.
HOW TO USE YOUR DRYER
Your new hair dryer features a choice of two speeds and four heat settings. Use high heats/speed for most styling/setting procedures
and hair types. Select lower heats/speed for “finishing” a hairstyle or for drying and styling permed, color-treated or fragile hair.
To adjust heat and speed settings, consult the engraved diagram on the reverse side of the handle. Switches operate as follows:
With both switches down: fast styling speed and hottest air.
With both switches up: slow speed and cool air.
With left switch down and right switch up: slow speed and warm air.
With left switch up and right switch down: fast speed and hot air.
NOTE: Whenever you brush hair and partly blow-dry it against its natural growth pattern, you will add bulk to your hair and body to
the style. After partially drying hair in this manner, you can then brush hair and blow-style it in the direction you want the finished
style to go.
AIR CONCENTRATOR: The air concentrator attaches easily onto the air chamber of your dryer and allows you to direct the airflow on a
small section of hair at a time as you style and shape hair with a vent brush or comb. You can also build body and fullness into fine, thin
hair by directing the airflow against the natural growth pattern of the hair.
PIK ATTACHMENT: The pik attachment lifts, smooths and builds body and volume into permed or naturally curly hair.
The pik attachment can also be used for smoothing and softening the curl pattern in overly curly hair. Just continuously run the pik like
a comb through the hair from the scalp down.
This appliance is permanently lubricated and will not require additional lubrication for the life of the unit. It contains no user serviceable
parts. Refer service to qualified service personnel.
WHILE USING: Untwist cord from time to time to avoid tangling.
TO CLEAN: Unplug unit and allow to cool. Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to wipe the surfaces. Do not allow water or any other liquid to
get into the unit. Intake grilles must be cleared of any build-up of lint or hair with a small brush.
TO STORE: Unplug appliance, allow to cool, and store in its box or in a dry place. Never store it while it is hot or still plugged in. Never
wrap the cord tightly around the appliance. Never hang unit by the cord -- use the hanging ring provided. Do not put any stress on the
cord where it enters the unit, as it could cause the cord to fray and break.
SERVICE NOTE:
Before returning unit for service, please make sure the air intake grille is free of lint and hair. If it needs cleaning, clean by hand with a
small brush, or use a vacuum cleaner brush attachment. If unit has a removable grille, be sure to clean the fixed grille attached to the
housing as well as the removable grille. Then try to operate the unit again.

IMPORTANTE: Nunca obstaculice las rejillas de admisión de aire, ya que esto hará que la unidad se sobrecaliente. Si esto pasara, un
sistema de seguridad incorporado funcionará y la unidad se apagará automáticamente. En este momento, apague el interruptor y
espere un rato antes de hacer funcionar nuevamente el artefacto. Si la unidad no funcionara después de 10 minutos, quiere decir que
el artefacto ha sufrido un daño interno considerable.
No trate de repararlo usted mismo. Llévelo a un taller de servicio eléctrico o devuélvalo al fabricante. Vea las instrucciones de
la garantía.
PRECAUCION: La sección de calentamiento nunca se debe tocar ya que puede estar caliente y podría causar quemaduras.

COMO USAR SU SECADOR
Su nuevo secador tiene la opción de escoger entre dos velocidades y cuatro temperaturas. Use temperatura/velocidad altas para el
procedimiento de la mayoría de estilos y tipos de cabello. Seleccione temperatura/velocidad más bajas para el "acabado" del peinado
o para secar y para el arreglo de cabellos con permanente, teñidos o frágiles.
Para ajustar la temperatura y velocidad, consulte el diagrama grabado en el reverso del mango. Los interruptores funcionan
como sigue:
Con ambos interruptores hacia abajo: velocidad más alta y aire más caliente.
Con ambos interruptores hacia arriba: velocidad baja y aire frío.
Con el interruptor de la izquierda hacia abajo y el de la derecha hacia arriba: velocidad baja y aire tibio.
Con el interruptor de la izquierda hacia arriba y el de la derecha hacia abajo: velocidad alta y aire caliente.
NOTA: Siempre que cepille o seque el cabello contra la raíz usted añadirá volumen a su cabello y cuerpo al peinado. Después de secar
parcialmente su cabello de esta manera, puede usted entonces cepillar y secar amoldándolo en la dirección que usted desea.
CONCENTRADOR DE AIRE: El concentrador de aire se adapta fácilmente a la cámara de aire de su secador y le permite dirigir la
circulación de aire a una pequeña sección del cabello, al mismo tiempo que lo moldea y le da forma con un cepillo con orificios o un
peine. También puede darle cuerpo y volumen a un cabello fino y delgado dirigiendo la circulación de aire contra la raíz de su cabello.
PEINETA COMO ADITAMENTO: La peineta levanta, alisa y le da cuerpo y volumen a cabellos con permanente o naturalmente crespos.
La peineta también puede ser usada para alisar y suavizar los rizos en cabellos bastantes crespos. Solamente pase continuamente la
peineta al cabello desde el cuero cabelludo hacia abajo.
Este artefacto se mantiene permanentemente lubricado y no necesita lubricación adicional durante la vida de la unidad. No contiene
piezas de repuestos que puedan ser reparadas por el usuario. Remítalo para servicio a personal calificado.
MIENTRAS LO ESTE USANDO: Desenrolle el cordón de vez en cuando para evitar que se enrede.
PARA LIMPIAR: Desenchufe la unidad y déjela que se enfríe. Use un paño suave ligeramente humedecido para limpiar la superficie.
No deje que agua ni ningún otro líquido entre en la unidad. Las rejillas de admisión de aire deben ser limpiadas con una brochita para
que estén libres de la acumulación de pelusas o pelos.
PARA GUARDAR: Desenchufe el artefacto, déjelo que se enfríe y guárdelo en su caja o en un lugar seco. nunca lo guarde mientras
esté caliente o enchufado. Nunca envuelva el cordón ajustadamente alrededor del artefacto. Nunca cuelgue la unidad por el cordón -
use el aro para colgar provisto. No ponga presión sobre el cordón donde entra en la unidad, ya que esto podría causar el desgaste y
rotura del cordón.
NOTA SOBRE SERVICIO:
Antes de devolver la unidad para servicio, asegúrese por favor que las rejillas de admisión de aire estén libres de pelusas y pelos. Si
necesita limpieza, límpielos con un cepillito o use el cepillo de la aspiradora. Si la unidad tiene una rejilla removible, asegúrese de

LINE CORD SAFETY TIPS
1. Never pull or yank on the cord or the appliance.
2. To insert plug, grasp it firmly and guide it into outlet.
3. To disconnect appliance, grasp plug and remove it from outlet.
4. Before each use, inspect the line cord for cuts and/or abrasion marks. If any are found, this indicates that the appliance should
be serviced and the line cord replaced. Please return it to our Service Department or to an authorized service representative.
5. Never wrap the cord tightly around the appliance, as this could place undue stress on the cord where it enters the appliance and
cause it to fray and break.
DO NOT OPERATE APPLIANCE IF THE LINE CORD SHOWS ANY DAMAGE, OR IF APPLIANCE WORKS INTERMITTENTLY OR STOPS
