1. OVERVIEW
The UDA 8 and UDA 16 are high output, full range, frequency shaded passive column speakers which
provide voice intelligibility and musical clarity in acoustically challenging environments such as shopping
malls, houses of worship, restaurants, congress halls, hotels, airports, train stations, swimming pools,
conference rooms or museums, where reflective surfaces create a reverberant sound field.
The UDA 8 and UDA 16 feature eight and sixteen 2.75" diameter transducers respectively, 0.75" voice
coil, in a closed box enclosure. A proprietary IST (Interdependent Shading Topology) network has been
designed to keep constant the ratio wavelength-column size, which results in a controlled 20° vertical
coverage in the vocal range. This makes the UDA series suitable to be installed in rooms with
problematic sound reflections where vocal intelligibility is paramount.
The narrow extruded aluminium enclosure has been designed for a seamless visual integration in every
venue and is available in black or white finish. The grille is also made of aluminium and internally
covered with a protective water repellent fabric which prevents splashed water and dust from damaging
the transducers, featuring thereby an IP 65 protection rating. A wall mounting accessory is included
allowing the column to be aimed up to +/- 90° sideways and from 0° to 10° downwards or upwards in
two degrees steps.
Each unit can be connected to either the input terminal strip or an NL4 Speakon. Connections are
protected by a metallic weather resistant cover featuring a cable gland on the bottom which prevents
water or moisture from causing a shortcircuit.
The accessory UDA 16 TL (not included) allows for high impedance connection of the UDA 8/UDA 16.
It houses a high quality 120Wrms@100V line transformer (60Wrms@70V) that makes it suitable for
installations where long cables have to be deployed.
Tuning presets are available to enhance the frequency balance and intelligibility.

3. INSTALLATION
UDA 8 and UDA 16 are frequency shaded passive column speaker types, meaning that most of the
speakers have been low pass filtered in order to widen the high frequency vertical directivity compared
to a conventional passive column speaker. The low pass filtered speakers are reproducing only low or
low&mid frequencies. This technique implies that, on the other hand, the rest of the speakers are
reproducing the whole frequency range, that is low, mid and high frequencies.
On the UDA 16, the speakers reproducing the whole frequency range (from low to high) are located at
the end opposite to the "WORK" logo. If two UDA 16 units are to be assembled one on top of the other
it is recommended that the speakers reproducing the whole frequency range be close together. That is,
when two UDA 16 units are assembled in a single line one of the units should be assembled upside
down, so the "WORK" logos will be seen at the ends of the arrangement. Please also note that when

two UDA 16 units are assembled together only one Wall 16 accessory is needed, as can be seen in the
picture below, on the right.
On the UDA 8, the speakers reproducing the whole frequency range (from low to high) are located at
the centre of the column. It is not recommended to assemble two UDA 8 units in one line. Otherwise
destructive interference would occur.

4. CONNECTION
The UDA 8 and UDA 16 can be connected to either an NL4 type connector (+/-1) or a barrier terminal
strip
To connect the UDA 8 or UDA 16 to the barrier terminal strip remove the metallic cover on the rear
side of the unit, get loose the nut of the cable gland, insert the cable and connect the two wires paying
attention to the polarity. Then attach the metallic cover in place and screw the nut of the cable gland
again.
To connect the UDA 8 or UDA 16 to the NL4 type connector remove the metallic cover on the rear side
of the unit and insert the NL4 type connector.
In order to avoid acoustic cancellations please make sure that all of the UDA units are connected with
the correct polarity to the amplifiers.
UDA 16 TL
UDA 16 TL is a line transformer that can be used both on UDA 8 or UDA 16.
To connect one UDA 16 TL to a UDA 8 or UDA 16 unit remove the metallic cover on the rear side of
the UDA 16 TL, get loose the nut of the cable gland and insert the cable. Then connect the amplifier
output to the terminals labeled "IN 100V", and the UDA unit to the terminals labeled "OUT 8 ohm" as
can be seen in the picture, paying attention to the polarity. To finish attach the metallic cover in place
and screw the nut of the cable gland again.
In order to avoid acoustic cancellations please make sure that all of the UDA units are connected with
the correct polarity to the amplifiers and to the UDA 16 TL line transformer.

Wall 16
Wall 16 is a wall mounting accessory (included with each unit) that allows the column to be aimed up
to +/- 90° sideways and from 0° to 10° downwards or upwards in two degrees steps.

UDA 8/UDA 16. It houses a high quality 120Wrms@100V line transformer (60Wrms@70V) that makes
it suitable for installations where long cables have to be deployed

1. INTRODUCCIÓN
UDA 8 y UDA 16 son dos columnas pasivas de rango completo y gran rendimiento que usan la técnica
de atenuación en frecuencia y que proporcionan inteligibilidad de palabra y claridad musical en
entornos acústicos complejos tales como centros comerciales, lugares de culto, restaurantes, palacios
de congresos, hoteles, aeropuertos, estaciones de tren, piscinas, auditorios o museos; lugares en los
cuales las superficies reflectantes crean un campo sonoro reverberante.
UDA 8 y UDA 16 están compuestas respectivamente por ocho y dieciséis transductores de 2,75" de
diámetro, con bobina de 0,75", montados en un recinto cerrado. Incorporan un filtro pasivo con una
configuración exclusiva IST (Interdependent Shading Technology) que mantiene constante la relación
longitud de onda-tamaño de columna, con lo cual se obtiene una cobertura vertical controlada de 20º
en vertical dentro del margen de frecuencias de la voz. Esto hace que la serie UDA sea apropiada para
instalarla en lugares con reflexiones problemáticas y donde la inteligibilidad de la palabra sea
primordial.
El estrecho recinto de aluminio extruido ha sido diseñado para una integración visual perfecta en todos
los lugares y está disponible en acabado negro o blanco. La rejilla también está hecha de aluminio y
cubierta internamente con un tejido protector repelente al agua que evita que las salpicaduras y el
polvo dañen los transductores, con un rango IP 65. Con cada unidad se incluye un accesorio de
montaje en pared que permite orientar la columna +/- 90 ° hacia los lados y de 0 ° a 10 ° hacia abajo
o hacia arriba en pasos de dos grados.
Cada unidad se puede conectar al bloque de terminales de entrada o a un Speakon NL4. Las
conexiones están protegidas por una cubierta metálica resistente a la intemperie con un prensaestopas
en la parte inferior que evita que el agua o la humedad provoquen un cortocircuito.
El accesorio UDA 16 TL (no incluido) permite la conexión de la UDA 8 / UDA 16 a alta impedancia.
Integra un transformador de alta calidad de 120Wrms @ 100V de línea (60Wrms @ 70V) que lo hace
adecuado para instalaciones donde se necesitan largas tiradas de cable.
Los presets de ajuste están disponibles para mejorar el balance de frecuencias y la inteligibilidad.

3. INSTALACIÓN
UDA 8 y UDA 16 son dos columnas pasivas de rango completo que usan la técnica de atenuación en
frecuencia, lo que significa que la mayoría de los altavoces han sido filtrados paso-bajo haciendo que
la cobertura vertical de las altas frecuencias sea más ancha y constante que la de una columna
convencional. Los altavoces filtrados paso-bajo están reproduciendo sólo bajas o bajas y medias
frecuencias. Por otro lado, el resto de altavoces estará reproduciendo el margen de frecuencias
completo.
En la UDA 16, los altavoces que reproducen todo el rango de frecuencias (de bajas a altas) se
encuentran en el extremo opuesto al logotipo "WORK". Si se montan dos unidades UDA 16 una encima
de la otra, se recomienda que los altavoces que reproducen todo el rango de frecuencias estén juntos.

Es decir, cuando dos unidades UDA 16 se apilan, una de las unidades debe colocarse boca abajo, de
modo que los logotipos "WORK" se verán en los extremos de la disposición. Tenga en cuenta también
que cuando se apilan dos unidades UDA 16, solo se necesita un accesorio Wall 16, como se puede
ver en la imagen a continuación, a la derecha.
En la UDA 8, los altavoces que reproducen todo el rango de frecuencia (de bajas a altas) se encuentran
en el centro de la columna. No se recomienda apilar dos unidades UDA 8 en una línea. De lo contrario,
se produciría una interferencia destructiva.

4. CONEXIONADO
La UDA 8 y la UDA 16 pueden conectarse bien a un conector de tipo NL4 (+/- 1) o bien al bloque de
terminales.
Para conectar la UDA 8 o la UDA 16 al bloque de terminales, retire la cubierta metálica en la parte
trasera de la unidad, suelte el tornillo del prensaestopas, inserte el cable y conecte los dos conductores,
prestando atención a la polaridad. Luego, coloque la cubierta metálica en su lugar y atornille el tornillo
del prensaestopas nuevamente.
Para conectar la UDA 8 o la UDA 16 al conector de tipo NL4, retire la cubierta metálica en la parte
posterior de la unidad e inserte el conector tipo NL4.
Para evitar cancelaciones acústicas, asegúrese de que todas las unidades UDA estén conectadas con
la polaridad correcta a los amplificadores.
UDA 16 TL
UDA 16 TL es un transformador de línea que se puede usar tanto con la UDA 8 como con la UDA 16.
Para conectar la UDA 16 TL a una unidad UDA 8 o UDA 16, retire la cubierta metálica en la parte
trasera del UDA 16 TL, suelte el tornillo del prensaestopas e inserte el cable. A continuación, conecte
la salida del amplificador al bloque de terminales con la etiqueta "IN 100V", y la unidad UDA al bloque
de terminales con la etiqueta "OUT 8 ohm" como se puede ver en la imagen, prestando atención a la
polaridad. Para terminar, coloque la cubierta metálica en su lugar y vuelva a atornillar el tornillo del
prensaestopas.
Para evitar cancelaciones acústicas, asegúrese de que todas las unidades UDA estén conectadas con
la polaridad correcta a los amplificadores y al transformador de línea UDA 16 TL.
