Important Read this user manual carefully before you use the appliance and save it for future reference. Noise level: Lc = 86 dB(A) General Danger -- Never immerse the motor unit in water or any other liquid, nor rinse it under the tap. Use only a moist cloth to clean the motor unit. Warning -- Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the local mains voltage before you connect the appliance. -- If the mains cord is damaged, you must have it replaced by Philips, a service centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. -- Do not use the appliance if the plug, the mains cord or other parts are damaged. -- Never use the blender jar or mill beaker (specific types only) to switch the appliance on and off. -- Never let the appliance run unattended. -- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. -- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. -- Do not touch the blades, especially when the appliance is plugged in. The blades are very sharp. -- If the blades get stuck, unplug the appliance before you remove the ingredients that block the blades. -- Never place the blade unit onto the motor unit if the blender jar or mill beaker (specific types only) is not or not properly attached to it. Caution -- Always unplug the appliance before you assemble, disassemble or make adjustments to any of the parts. -- Never use any accessories or parts from other manufacturers or that Philips does not specifically recommend. If you use such accessories or parts, your guarantee becomes invalid. -- If you have not finished processing after the standard processing time, switch off the appliance and let it cool down for about 10 minutes before you process the next batch. If you need to process more than 5 batches, let the appliance cool down to room temperature for about 90 minutes after 5 batches before you let the appliance operate again. This helps prolong the life of the appliance. Blender Warning -- Never reach into the blender jar with your fingers or an object while the appliance is running. -- Make sure the blade unit is securely fastened to the blender jar before you assemble the blender jar onto the motor unit. -- Do not touch the cutting edges of the blade unit when you clean it. They are very sharp and you could easily cut your fingers on them. English 7 Caution -- Never fill the blender jar with ingredients hotter than 80ºC. -- To prevent spillage, do not put more than 1.25 litres of liquid in the blender jar, especially when you process at a high speed. Do not put more than 1 litre in the blender jar when you process hot liquids or ingredients that tend to foam. -- If food sticks to the wall of the blender jar, switch off the appliance and unplug it. Then use a spatula to remove the food from the wall. -- Always make sure the lid is properly closed and the measuring cup is inserted properly in the lid before you switch on the appliance. -- Never forget to place the sealing ring on the blade unit before you connect the blade unit to the blender jar, otherwise leakage occurs. -- Do not let the appliance run for more than 3 minutes at a time. Let it cool down to room temperature between processing cycles. Mill beaker (HR2006 only) Warning -- Never use the mill to grind very hard ingredients such as nutmeg, Chinese rock sugar and ice cubes. Caution -- Never use the mill for more than 30 seconds without interruption. Let the mill cool down to room temperature between processing cycles. -- Never forget to place the sealing ring in the blade unit before you assemble the mill jar, otherwise leakage occurs. -- Always process cloves, star anise and aniseed together with other ingredients. If processed separately, these ingredients may attack the plastic materials of the appliance. -- The mill beaker may become discoloured when you use the mill to process ingredients such as cloves, anise and cinnamon. -- The mill is not suitable for chopping raw meat. Use the blender instead. -- Do not use the mill to process liquids such as fruit juice. Filter Caution -- Never use the filter to process ingredients hotter than 80°C. -- Never overload the filter. Do not put more than 70g dried soy beans or 150g fruit in the filter at the same time. -- Always make sure the lid is closed/assembled properly and the measuring cup is inserted properly in the lid before you switch on the appliance. -- Cut fruit into smaller pieces before you put it in the filter. -- Soak dried ingredients, such as soy beans, before you put them in the filter. Electromagnetic fields (EMF) This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic fields (EMF). If handled properly and according to the instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on scientific evidence available today. Built-in safety lock This feature ensures that you can only switch on the appliance if you have properly assembled the blender jar or mill beaker on the motor unit. Using the appliance Blender The blender is intended for fine pureeing, chopping and blending. With the blender you can prepare soups, sauces and milk shakes. You can also use it to process vegetables, fruit, meat, pancake batter etc. Preparing the blender for use 1 Assemble the sealing ring on the blender blade unit (Fig. 2). 2 Insert the blade unit into the opening in the bottom of the blender jar (1). Screw the blade unit clockwise onto the bottom of the blender jar (2) until the blade unit it is fixed properly. (Fig. 3) 3 Put the blender jar with the blade unit attached on the motor unit and fix it by turning it clockwise (‘click’). (Fig. 4) The blender jar can be mounted in two positions: with the handle on the right side or on the left side. 4 Put the mains plug in the wall socket. Using the blender 1 Put the ingredients in the blender jar. 2 Close the lid. 3 Insert the measuring cup into the opening in the lid. (Fig. 5) 4 Turn the control knob to speed 1 or 2. Turn the control knob to the pulse setting if you want to process ingredients very briefly. Do not let the appliance run for more than 3 minutes at a time. Always let the appliance cool down to room temperature after each batch you process. Tips -- If you want to crush ice cubes, put not more than 6 ice cubes (of approx. 25x35x25mm) in the blender jar. Then turn the control knob to pulse position a few times. -- Cut meat or other solid ingredients into smaller pieces before putting them in the blender jar. English 9 -- Do not process a large quantity of solid ingredients at the same time. To get good results, we advise you to process these ingredients in a series of small batches. -- To make tomato juice, cut the tomatoes in four and drop the pieces through the opening in the lid onto the rotating blades. Disassembling the blender 1 Remove the mains plug from the wall socket. 2 Remove the lid with the measuring cup from the blender jar. 3 Turn the blender jar with the blade unit attached anticlockwise to remove it from the motor unit. 4 Clean all removable parts immediately after use (see chapter ‘Cleaning’). Filter With the filter you can make delicious fresh fruit juices, cocktails or soy milk. The filter prevents pips and skins from ending up in your drink. Never overload the filter. Do not put more than 70g soy beans (unsoaked weight) or 150g fruit in the filter at the same time. Preparing the filter for use 1 Mount the blender jar with the blade unit attached on the motor unit and fix it by turning it clockwise (‘click’) (Fig. 4). The blender jar can be mounted in two positions: with the handle on the right side or on the left side. 2 Put the filter in the blender jar (Fig. 6). Make sure that the grooves of the filter fit exactly onto the ribs inside the blender jar. 3 Put the mains plug in the wall socket. Using the filter 1 Close the lid. 2 Put the ingredients in the filter. (Fig. 7) Do not exceed the MAX indication on the sieve mesh. 3 Pour water or another liquid (milk, juice, etc.) into the blender jar. 4 Insert the measuring cup into the hole in the lid. 5 Let the appliance run for approx. 40 seconds. 6 Switch off the appliance and remove the blender jar with the blade unit attached from the motor unit. Do not open the lid. Leave the measuring cup and the filter in the jar. 7 Pour out the drink through the pouring lip of the blender jar. (Fig. 8) Tip: For optimal results, put the jar with the remaining ingredients back onto the appliance and let it run for a few more seconds. Note:When you process a large quantity, we advise you not to put all the ingredients in the filter at the same time. Start to process a small quantity and let the appliance run for a few seconds.Then switch off the appliance and add another small quantity. Repeat this procedure until you have processed all the ingredients. Always keep the lid on the blender jar during processing. 10 English 8 Clean all removable parts immediately after use (see chapter ‘Cleaning’). Mill (HR2006 only) Using the mill 1 Put the ingredients in the mill beaker (Fig. 9). You can process wet and dry ingredients. Do not fill the mill beaker beyond the MAX indication. 2 Assemble the sealing ring on the blender blade unit.  (Fig. 2) 3 Put the blender blade unit on the mill beaker (1) and screw the blade unit anticlockwise (2) until it is fixed properly. (Fig. 10) 4 Turn the assembled mill upside down and screw it clockwise onto the motor unit (‘click’) (Fig. 11). 5 Put the mains plug in the wall socket. 6 Switch on the appliance and let it run until the ingredients are fine enough. This takes approx. 10-30 seconds. Disassembling the mill 1 Unplug the appliance. 2 Screw the mill anticlockwise off the motor unit. 3 Turn the mill upside down and screw the blade unit clockwise off the mill beaker. 4 Clean all removable parts immediately after use (see chapter ‘Cleaning’). Cleaning Always unplug the appliance before you clean it. Never immerse the motor unit in water, nor rinse it under the tap. Do not clean the motor unit in the dishwasher. Never use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids such as petrol or acetone to clean the appliance. Tip: Cleaning the appliance and its parts is easiest immediately after use. 1 Make sure the appliance is unplugged. 2 Disassemble all removable parts. Do not forget to remove the blender sealing ring. Do not touch the blades. The blades are very sharp. 3 Clean the motor unit with a moist cloth. 4 Clean the removable parts in hot water with some washing-up liquid. Note: All parts except the motor unit can be cleaned in the dishwasher Storage 1 To store the mains cord, wind it round the base of the motor unit. English 11 Disposal -- Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the environment (Fig. 12). Recipes Soy milk Note:This recipe can only be prepared with the filter. Always let the appliance cool down to room temperature after each batch you process. Ingredients -- 70g dried soy beans -- 600ml water 1 Soak the soy beans for 4 hours before you process them. Then let them drain. 2 Put the soaked soy beans in the filter and pour the water into the blender jar. Blend for 40 seconds. 3 Pour the soy milk into a pan and bring to the boil. Then add some sugar and let the soy milk simmer until all sugar has dissolved. 4 Serve hot or cold. Nourishing vegetable soup from Budapest ----------- Ingredients 100 kohlrabi 150g potatoes 150g celery 50g carrots 100g smoked pork 550ml water 100g lentils (canned) 125g crème fraîche 10g parsley salt, freshly ground pepper, 1 stock cube, 1 bay leaf 1 Precut the ingredients into pieces of 2x2x2cm. 2 Put the kohlrabi, potatoes, celery, carrots and 350ml water in the blender jar in this order. Then blend for 30 seconds. 3 Put the blended ingredients in a pan and bring it to the boil. 4 Add the rest of the water (200ml), crème fraîche, lentils, pork, stock cube, herbs and seasonings. 5 Let the soup simmer for 30 minutes. Stir the soup regularly. 12 English Troubleshooting Problem Solution The appliance does not work. Check if you have plugged in the appliance. Also check if the blender jar or the mill beaker (specific types only) is properly attached. The motor produces an unpleasant smell during processing. It is common for a new appliance to give off an unpleasant smell or emit some smoke the first few times it is used. This phenomenon stops after you have used the appliance a few times. The appliance may also give off an unpleasant smell or emit some smoke if it has been used too long. In this case switch off the appliance and let it cool down to room temperature. The appliance stops running because the blade unit is blocked. Switch off the appliance and use a spatula to dislodge the ingredients that block the blade unit. We also advise you to process a smaller quantity and/or to cut ingredients into smaller pieces before you put them in the blender jar or mill beaker (specific types only). Even though the filter is assembled in the blender jar, the fruit juice or soy milk contains pulp. Make sure the filter is assembled properly in the blender jar. The grooves of the filter should fit exactly onto the ribs inside the blender jar. When you pour out the juice or soy milk, do not open the lid and also leave the measuring cup and the filter in the jar. The blender jar leaks. Switch off the appliance and pour out the ingredients. Then remove the blade unit. Check if the sealing ring is assembled properly on the blade unit. Powder or liquid leaks out of the mill (specific types only). Switch off the appliance and remove the mill. Then remove the blade unit. Check if the sealing ring has been assembled properly on the blade unit. Do not use the mill to process liquids; use the blender instead. Frequently asked questions Question Answer Can I clean all removable parts in the dishwasher? All parts except the motor unit can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Clean the motor unit with a moist cloth. What does ‘pulse’ mean? When you turn the control knob to pulse position, the appliance runs at high speed as long as you hold the knob in this position. Use the pulse position when you want to have more control over the process, for instance when you blend a milk shake or crush ice cubes. Can I put boiling hot ingredients in the blender jar? No, let the ingredients cool down to 80°C before you put them in the blender jar to avoid damage to the jar. Can I chop raw meat in the mill (specific types only)? No, this is not possible. Uso del aparato Batidora La batidora está diseñada para hacer purés, picar y mezclar. Con la batidora puede preparar sopas, salsas y batidos, además de procesar verduras, fruta, carne, masa, etc. Preparación de la batidora para su uso 1 Coloque la junta en la unidad de cuchillas de la batidora (fig. 2). 2 Inserte la unidad de cuchillas en la abertura de la parte inferior de la jarra de la batidora (1). Enrosque la unidad de cuchillas en la parte inferior de la jarra de la batidora girándola en el sentido de las agujas del reloj (2) hasta que la unidad de cuchillas quede fijada correctamente. (fig. 3) 3 Coloque la jarra de la batidora con la unidad de cuchillas en la unidad motora y fíjela enroscándola en el sentido de las agujas del reloj (“clic”).  (fig. 4) La jarra de la batidora se puede montar en dos posiciones: con el asa hacia la derecha o hacia la izquierda. 4 Enchufe la clavija de red a la toma de corriente. Uso de la batidora 1 Ponga los ingredientes en la jarra de la batidora. 2 Cierre la tapa. 3 Introduzca el vaso medidor en la abertura de la tapa. (fig. 5) 4 Gire el botón de control a la velocidad 1 ó 2. Si desea procesar los ingredientes muy poco tiempo, gire el botón de control a la posición turbo. No deje que el aparato funcione durante más de 3 minutos seguidos. Deje siempre que el aparato se enfríe a temperatura ambiente después de procesar cada lote. 16 Español Consejos -- Si quiere picar cubitos de hielo, no ponga más de 6 cubitos (de aprox. 25 x 35 x 25 mm) en la jarra de la batidora y gire el botón de control a la posición “Pulse” varias veces. -- Corte la carne o los ingredientes sólidos en trozos pequeños antes de introducirlos en la jarra de la batidora. -- No procese gran cantidad de ingredientes sólidos al mismo tiempo. Para obtener buenos resultados, recomendamos procesar los ingredientes en pequeños lotes. -- Para preparar zumo de tomate, corte los tomates en 4 trozos y échelos por la abertura de la tapa sobre las cuchillas girando. Cómo desmontar la batidora 1 Desenchufe el aparato de la toma de corriente. 2 Quite la tapa con el vaso medidor de la jarra de la batidora. 3 Gire la jarra de la batidora con la unidad de cuchillas en sentido contrario al de las agujas del reloj para quitarla de la unidad motora. 4 Lave todas las piezas desmontables inmediatamente después de usarlas (consulte el capítulo “Limpieza”). Filtro Con este filtro podrá preparar deliciosos zumos de fruta, cócteles o leche de soja. El filtro evita que las pepitas y las pieles de la fruta vayan a parar a su la bebida. No sobrecargue nunca el filtro. No ponga más de 70 g de granos de soja (peso en seco) o 150 g de fruta en el filtro al mismo tiempo. Preparación del filtro para su uso 1 Monte la jarra de la batidora con la unidad de cuchillas en la unidad motora y fíjela enroscándola en el sentido de las agujas del reloj (“clic”) (fig. 4). La jarra de la batidora se puede montar en dos posiciones: con el asa hacia la derecha o hacia la izquierda. 2 Ponga el filtro en la jarra de la batidora (fig. 6). Asegúrese de que las ranuras del filtro encajan perfectamente en los resaltes del interior de la jarra de la batidora. 3 Enchufe la clavija de red a la toma de corriente. Uso del filtro 1 Cierre la tapa. 2 Coloque los ingredientes en el filtro. (fig. 7) No exceda la indicación MAX de la malla del tamiz. 3 Vierta agua u otro líquido (leche, zumo, etc.) en la jarra de la batidora. 4 Introduzca el vaso medidor en el orificio de la tapa. 5 Deje funcionar el aparato durante unos 40 segundos. 6 Apague el aparato y quite la jarra de la batidora con la unidad de cuchillas de la unidad motora. No abra la tapa. Deje el vaso medidor y el filtro en la jarra. 7 Sirva la bebida por la boquilla de la jarra de la batidora. (fig. 8) Español 17 Consejo: Para conseguir unos resultados óptimos, vuelva a poner la jarra con los ingredientes restantes en el aparato y deje que funcione durante unos segundos más. Nota: Cuando procese una gran cantidad, recomendamos que no ponga todos los ingredientes en el filtro al mismo tiempo. Comience por una cantidad pequeña y deje funcionar el aparato durante unos segundos. Luego apague el aparato y añada otra pequeña cantidad. Repita este procedimiento hasta que haya procesado todos los ingredientes. Deje siempre puesta la tapa de la jarra de la batidora mientras ésta esté en funcionamiento. 8 Lave todas las piezas desmontables inmediatamente después de usarlas (consulte el capítulo “Limpieza”). Molinillo (sólo modelo HR2006) Uso del molinillo 1 Ponga los ingredientes en el vaso del molinillo (fig. 9). Puede procesar tanto ingredientes húmedos como secos. Guía de resolución de problemas Problema Solución El aparato no funciona. Compruebe que ha enchufado el aparato. Compruebe también si la jarra de la batidora o el vaso del molinillo (sólo modelos específicos) están conectados correctamente. El motor desprende un olor desagradable durante el funcionamiento. Es normal que un aparato nuevo desprenda un olor desagradable o eche un poco de humo las primeras veces que se usa. Dejará de ocurrir cuando haya utilizado el aparato varias veces. También es posible que desprenda un olor desagradable o eche humo si se utiliza durante mucho tiempo seguido. En ese caso, deberá apagar el aparato y dejar que se enfríe a temperatura ambiente. El aparato deja de funcionar porque la unidad de cuchillas está bloqueada. Apague el aparato y utilice una espátula para retirar los ingredientes que bloquean la unidad de cuchillas.
