INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAFE OPERATION

Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in this

manual. Do not use attachments not recommended by the manu-

facturer.

This product is not intended for use by persons (including children)

with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lacking

experience and knowledge unless supervised or instructed in safe

product use by a person responsible for their safety. Children

should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the product.

Children under the age of 8 must be kept away from the device

and the power cable.

Do not use this device in the vicinity of bathtubs, showers,

washbasins or other vessels containing water.

This device is equally intended for use in the home and in applica-

tions similar to the home, such as for example...

… in kitchens for employees in shops, offices and other commer-

cial areas;

This device is not intended to be operated using an external timer

clock or a separate remote control system.

Do not open the lid while the water is boiling.

Fill the device only to the maximum filling level, as boiling water

It is always necessary to close the lid when heating water, as boil-

ing water may otherwise spray out!

Use the kettle only with the supplied device base.

The kettle, the device base, the power cable and the power plug

must not be immersed in water or other liquids.

Liquid must never overflow onto the plug connections of the device.

Remember that the surface of the heating element remains hot after

use.

If the power cord of this device should become damaged, it must

be replaced by the manufacturer, the manufacturer's customer ser-

vice department or a similarly qualified specialist, in order to

avoid any hazards.

Please take note of the chapter on cleaning (see “Cleaning” on

Risk for babies and children

~To avoid danger of suffocation,

keep this plastic bag away from

babies and children. Do not use

this bag in cribs, beds, carriages,

or playpens. This bag is not a toy.

Risk to or from pets and

livestock

~Electrical devices can represent a

hazard to pets and livestock. In ad-

dition, animals can also cause

damage to the device. For this rea-

son you should keep animals away

from electrical devices at all times.

Risk of electric shock due to

moisture

~Protect the device from moisture,

water drops and water spray. Fail-

ure to observe this instruction may

result in an electrical shock hazard.

~If liquid gets into the device base,

pull out the power plug immediate-

ly. Have the device checked before

reusing.

Risk of electric shock

~Do not use the appliance if the ap-

pliance or the power cable has any

visible damage, or if the device

base has previously been dropped.

~This appliance has a polarized

plug (one blade is wider than the

other). To reduce the risk of electric

shock, this plug will fit in a polar-

ized outlet only one way. If the

plug does not fit fully in the outlet,

reverse the plug. If it still does not

fit, contact a qualified electrician.

Do not modify the plug in any way.

~Lay the power cable such that no

one can step on it, become entan-

gled with it or trip over it.

~Only connect the power plug to a

properly installed and easily acces-

sible wall socket whose voltage

corresponds to the specifications

on the rating plate. The outlet must

continue to be easily accessible af-

ter the device is plugged in.

~Ensure that the power cable cannot

be damaged by sharp edges or hot

points. Do not wrap the power ca-

ble around the device (risk of cable

damage!).

~Ensure that the power cable cannot

be trapped or crushed.

~To pull the power plug out of the

outlet, always pull on the power

~Disconnect the power plug from the

~If the power cable or the device is

damaged, immediately pull the

power plug out of the wall socket.

Risk of injury through

scalding

~Do not bend over the kettle when

you open the lid and the contents

are still hot. There is a danger of

being scalded by escaping steam.

~The kettle becomes very hot during

operation. Only touch it at its han-

dle and only use the release button

and the on/off switch.

Risk of material damage

~Only use the original accessories.

~The device is fitted with non-slip sili-

con feet. Because furniture can be

coated with a wide variety of var-

nishes and plastics, and treated

with various care products, the pos-

sibility cannot be excluded that

some of these substances have in-

gredients that may attack and soft-

en the silicon feet. If necessary,

place a non-slip mat under the de-

vice.

~Fill the device with a minimum of

17 oz. (0.5 liters) of water, as oth-

erwise the device may overheat.

~Never put alcohol, sugar or milk

into the kettle!

~Place the device on a stable, flat

surface.

~Do not use any astringent or abra-

sive cleaning agents.

6. How to use

Risk of electric shock

~Connect the power plug5 only to

a correctly installed, easily accessi-

ble grounded wall socket with volt-

age corresponding to the rating

plate. The wall socket must contin-

ue to be easily accessible after the

device is plugged in.

~Pull the power plug5 out from the

wall socket after every use.

• Remove all packing material.

• Check to ensure that all parts are

present and undamaged.

• Place the device on a dry, level,

non-slip surface.

7. Before using for the

first time

1. Fill the kettle2 up to the marking

MAX 1.7L 58OZ on the water

level display3 and heat the water

(see “Using the kettle” on page 9).

2. Pour the water out and rinse out the

kettle2 with fresh water.

3. Repeat this process. Then it is safe

to use the device.

8. Using the kettle

Risk of injury through scalding

~It is always necessary to close the

lid9 when heating water, as boil-

ing water may otherwise spray out!

~Do not open the lid9 while the wa-

ter is boiling.

~Fill the kettle2 only to the maxi-

mum filling level (MAX 1.7L

58OZ), as boiling water may oth-

erwise spray out.

~Do not bend over the kettle2 when

you open the lid9 and the contents

are still hot. There is a danger of

being scalded by escaping steam.

~The kettle2 becomes very hot

during operation. Only touch it at

its handle7 and only use the re-

lease button8 and the on/off

switch6.

Risk of material damage

~Fill the device with a minimum of

Water as foodstuff

Water is a very sensitive foodstuff and

can go bad due to germs forming.

Please take note:

• Always use fresh drinking water in

the kettle2.

• Pour water away, which has been

standing in the kettle2 for longer

than approx. 1 hour.

• Do not reboil cooled down water.

Boiling water

1. Remove the kettle2 from the device

base4.

2. Press the release button8 to open

the lid9.

3. Fill the desired amount of fresh

drinking water into the kettle2.

Keep it upright or place it on an

even surface to be able to read the

water level display3 correctly.

4. Close the lid9, by pressing it

downwards.

5. Place the kettle on the device

base4.

6. Insert the power plug5 into a read-

ily accessible grounded wall socket

whose voltage matches the volt-

age stated on the rating plate.

7. Press the on/off switch6 down,

until it lights up and locks into

place.

8. The device automatically switches

off as soon as the water starts to

boil or you remove the kettle2

from the device base4.

9. Disconnect the power plug5 from

the wall socket.

10.Remove the kettle2 from the device

base4 and pour the water out.

9. Cleaning

Risk of electric shock

~Pull the power plug5 out of the

wall socket before you clean the

kettle2.

~The kettle2, the device base4, the

power cable and the power plug5

must not be immersed in water or

other liquids.

Risk of injury through scalding

The kettle

becomes very hot

during operation. Allow it to cool

down before cleaning.

Cleaning the kettle

1. Disconnect the power plug5 from

the wall socket.

2. Wipe the kettle2, the device

base4 and the power cable5

with a damp cloth if necessary. Dry

with a dry cloth.

3. Allow all parts to dry completely

before you put them away or use

the device again.

Cleaning the limescale filter

1. Open the lid9.

2. Press the limescale filter1 down-

wards and inwards.

3. Pull the limescale filter1 upwards

out of the kettle2.

4. Clean the limescale filter1 with a

moist dishcloth under running

water.

5. Put the limescale filter1 into the

provided slot in the kettle2 and

press it downwards and outwards.

6. Release the pressure downwards so

that the limescale filter1 is locked

at the top in the slot.

Descaling

After some time, the boiling process will

result in limescale being deposited in

parts of the kettle (depending on the

hardness of the water used). You should

remove this at regular intervals, be-

cause otherwise the power consump-

tion of the device will increase.

1. Press the limescale filter1 down-

wards and inwards.

2. Pull the limescale filter1 upwards

out of the kettle2.

3. Fill the limescale remover into the

kettle2. Use a commercially avail-

able limescale remover, e.g. limes-

cale remover for coffee machines.

Comply with the instructions on the

packaging of the limescale

remover. You can find the next

steps in the instructions of the limes-

cale remover. Rinse the kettle multi-

ple times after descaling, if

necessary.

4. Put the limescale filter1 into the

provided slot in the kettle2 and

press it downwards and outwards.

5. Release the pressure downwards so

that the limescale filter1 is locked

at the top in the slot.

Time intervals for descaling

The intervals for descaling are depen-

dent on the hardness of the water, and

how often you use the device. Where

the hardness of the water is medium or

high, we recommend descaling month-

ly.

If using tap water, you can find out the

hardness of the water in the area where

you live by inquiring at your local wa-

terworks.

10. Storage

Risk for babies and children

~Store the device out of the reach of

children.

• Allow the device to cool down be-

fore you put it away.

11. Disposal

This appliance must not be disposed of

as household garbage.

If the electrical appliance is no longer

be used, it must be handed over to the

relevant local public waste authorities

for disposal.

As a rule, these waste disposal authori-

ties run special reception units for elec-

trical appliances (recycling centers,

materials recovery centers etc.).

haps there is only a minor problem, and

you can solve it yourself.

les.

~El dispositivo está equipado con pa-

tas de silicona antideslizantes. De-

bido a que los muebles pueden

estar revestidos de una amplia va-

riedad de barnices y plásticos, y

dado que se los trata con diversos

productos de cuidado, no se puede

excluir la posibilidad de que algu-

nas de estas sustancias tengan in-

gredientes que puedan atacar y

8. Uso

Riesgo de lesión por quemadura

~Siempre es necesario cerrar la ta-

pa9 del dispositivo mientras se

hierve agua, ya que, de lo contra-

rio, podría despedir agua hirvien-

do.

está hirviendo.

El agua es un alimento muy sensible y

puede deteriorarse debido a la forma-

ción de gérmenes. Tome nota:

• Utilice siempre agua limpia en el

hervidor de agua2.

• Deseche el agua que haya estado

más de 1 hora en el hervidor de

agua2.

• No hierva el agua que se ha enfriado.

Para hervir agua

1. Retire el hervidor de agua2 de la

base del dispositivo4.

2. Presione el botón de desbloqueo8

para abrir la tapa9.

3. Introduzca la cantidad deseada de

agua potable fresca en el hervidor

de agua2. Manténgalo en posi-

ción vertical o colóquelo sobre una

superficie plana para poder leer

correctamente el indicador de nivel

de agua3.

4. Cierre la tapa9 empujándola

hacia abajo.

5. Ponga el hervidor de agua sobre la

base del dispositivo4.

6. Introduzca el enchufe

en un toma-

corriente con conexión a tierra, de

fácil acceso, cuya tensión corres-

ponda a la especificación indicada

en la placa de características.

7. Pulse hacia abajo el interruptor de

encendido/apagado6, hasta que

se encienda y encaje en su lugar.

8. El dispositivo se apaga automática-

mente cuando el agua comienza a

hervir o cuando se retira el hervi-

dor de agua2 de la base del dis-

positivo4.

9. Desconecte el enchufe5 del toma-

corriente.

10.Retire el hervidor de agua2 de la

base del dispositivo4 y vierta el

agua.

9. Limpieza

piarlo.

Limpieza del hervidor de agua

1. Desconecte el enchufe5 del toma-

corriente.

2. Limpie el hervidor de agua2, la

base del dispositivo4 y el cable

de alimentación5 con un paño

húmedo, si es necesario. Seque

con un paño seco.

3. Permita que todas las piezas se

sequen por completo antes de

guardarlas o antes de volver a usar

el dispositivo.

Limpieza del filtro de cal

1. Abra la tapa9.

2. Presione el filtro de cal1 hacia

abajo y hacia adentro.

3. Retire el filtro de cal1 hacia arriba

y retírelo del hervidor de agua2.

4. Limpie el filtro de cal1 con un

paño humedecido con agua

corriente.

5. Coloque el filtro de cal1 en la

ranura provista en el hervidor de

agua2 y presiónelo hacia abajo y

hacia afuera.

6. Libere la presión hacia abajo para

que el filtro de cal1 se encaje en

la parte superior de la ranura.

Descalcificación

Después de un tiempo, el proceso de

ebullición provocará que se deposite

cal en partes del hervidor de agua (de-

pendiendo de la dureza del agua utili-

zada). Debe eliminar estos depósitos

de cal a intervalos regulares porque, de

lo contrario, aumentará el consumo de

energía del dispositivo.

1. Presione el filtro de cal1 hacia

abajo y hacia adentro.

2. Retire el filtro de cal1 hacia arriba

y retírelo del hervidor de agua2.

3. Introduzca la solución descalcifica-

dora dentro del hervidor de

agua2. Utilice una solución des-

calcificadora disponible en el mer-

cado, por ejemplo la que se utiliza

para máquinas cafeteras. Siga las

instrucciones que figuran en el

paquete de la solución descalcifi-

cadora. Los siguientes pasos pue-

den ser mencionados en las

instrucciones de la solución descal-

cificadora. Si es necesario, enjua-

gue el hervidor de agua varias

4. Coloque el filtro de cal1 en la

ranura provista en el hervidor de

agua2 y presiónelo hacia abajo y

hacia afuera.

5. Libere la presión hacia abajo para

que el filtro de cal1 se encaje en

la parte superior de la ranura.

Intervalos de tiempo para des-

calcificar

Los intervalos para realizar la descalci-

ficación dependen de la dureza del

agua y de la frecuencia con la que usa

el dispositivo. En los lugares en que la

dureza del agua es media o alta, reco-

mendamos descalcificar mensualmen-

te.

Si usa agua del grifo, puede averiguar

la dureza del agua en el área donde

vive consultando a su compañía local

de suministro de agua.

10. Conservación

Cuide a los bebés y niños

~Coloque el aparato fuera del alcan-

ce de los niños.

• Permita que el dispositivo se enfríe

antes de guardarlo.

11. Manejo de desechos

Este producto no se debe desechar
