SPARK ARRESTOR NOTE

NOTE: For users on U.S. Forest Land and in the states of California,

= Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar with the controls and

proper use of the unit.

• Do not operate this unit when tired, ill, or under the influence of

alcohol, drugs, or medication.

Children and teens under the age of 15 must not use the unit, except

for teens guided by an adult.

All guards and safety attachments must be installed properly before

operating the unit.

inspect the unit before use. Replace damaged parts. Check for fuel

leaks. Make sure all fasteners are in place and secure. Replace parts

that are cracked, chipped, or damaged in any way. Do not operate

the unit with loose or damaged parts.

Carefully inspect the area before starting the unit. Remove all debris

and hard or sharp objects such as glass, wire, etc.

Be aware of the risk of injury to the head, hands and feet.

Clear the area of children, bystanders, and pets. At a minimum, keep

all children, bystanders, and pets outside a 50 feet (15 m) radius;

there still may be a risk to bystanders from thrown objects.

Bystanders should be encouraged to wear eye protection, if you are

approached, stop the unit immediately.

Squeeze the throttle control and check that it returns automatically to

the idle position. Make all adjustments or repairs before using unit.

SAFETY WARNINGS FOR GAS UNITS

-- i_[_ ARNING: Gasoline is highly flammable and its vaporscan explode if ignited. Take the following precautions:

Store fuel only in containers specifically designed and approved for

the storage of such materials.

Avoid creating a source of ignition for spilled fuel. Do not start the

engine until fuel vapors dissipate.

Always stop the engine and allow it to cool before filling the fuel tank.

Never remove the cap of the fuel tank, or add fuel, when the engine

is hot. Never operate the unit without the fuel cap securely in place.

Loosen the fuel tank cap slowly to relieve any pressure in the tank.

Add fuel in a clean, weIFventilated outdoor area where there are no

sparks or flames. Slowly remove the fuel cap only after stopping

engine. Do not smoke while fueling or mixing fuel. Wipe up any spilled

fuel from the unit immediately. Always wipe unit dry before using.

Move the unit at least 30 feet (9.1 m) from the fueling source and site

before starting the engine. Do not smoke or allow sparks and open

flames near the area while adding fuel or operating the unit.

WHILE OPERATING

= Never start or run the unit inside a closed room or building. Breathing

exhaust fumes can kill. Operate this unit only in a well ventilated

outdoor area.

Wear safety glasses or goggles that meet ANSI Z87.1 standards and

are marked as such. Wear ear/hearing protection when operating this

unit. Wear aface or dust mask if the operation is dusty.

Wear heavy, long pants, boots, gloves and a long-sleeved shirt. Do

not wear loose clothing, jewelry, short pants, sandals or go barefoot.

Secure hair above shoulder level.

This unit has aclutch. The tines remain stationary when the engine is

idling, if they do not, have the unit adjusted by a Sears or other

qualified service technician.

Be surethe tines arenot in contact with anything before starting the unit.

Use the unit only indaylight or good artificial light.

ASSEMBLING THE UNIT

Before operating, position the unit's handlebars.

NOTE: You may also need to reposition the wheel height before

using the cultivator. Refer to the Adjusting Tine Depth section.

Begin by carefully unpacking the contents and making sure that

nothing is damaged.

POSITIONING THE HANDLEBARS

1. Loosen the two knobs on the inside of the handlebars (Fig. 1).

2. With the unit upright, swing the handlebars up into the

operating position (Fig. 9).

NOTE: Take care not to pinch the throttle cable or switch wires

when positioning the handlebar.

underside of the tine guard (Fig. 3).

gloves and a long sleeve shirt when installing the wheel

bracket assembly.

,A I WARNING: To prevent serious personal injury, the wheel

_ bracket assemb y must be installed when operating the unit.

2. Install a carriage bolt through each of the slotted holes in the

wheel bracket and into the tine guard.

3. On the TOP side of the tine guard, install a lock washer and a

wing nut onto each of the bolts (Fig. 3).

4. Make sure the square shoulder of the bolts is pushed through

the slotted holes in the wheel bracket. Tighten the wing nuts

(Fig. 3).

NOTE: Do not over-tighten the wing nuts. Loosen the wing nuts to

adjust wheel height.

ADJUSTING TINE DEPTH

Tine adjustment will vary depending on the type of soil being

cultivated and how it will be used. Generally, adjusting the tines to

break the soil 4 to 6 inches is recommended for most gardens.

Adjust the tines as follows:

1. Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire.

2. Loosen (do not remove) the two wing nuts on the tine guard

3. Slide the wheel bracket

assembly down for

shallower penetration,

and up for deeper tine

penetration.

bolts are seated properly

through the bracket.

5. Ifthetine depth is

incorrect, repeat steps 2

to 4.

6. Reconnect the spark plug

wire and continue use.

OIL AND FUEL MIXING INSTRUCTIONS

Old and/or improperly mixed fuel are the main reasons for the unit

not running properly. Be sure to use fresh, clean unleaded fuel.

Follow the instructions carefully for the proper fuel/oil mixture.

Definition of Blended Fuels

Today's fuels are often a blend of gasoline and oxygenates such as

ethanol, methanol, or MTBE (ether). Alcohol-blended fuel absorbs

water. As little as 1% water in the fuel can make fuel and oil separate.

Itforms acids when stored. When using alcohol-blended fuel, use

fresh fuel (less than 60 days old).

Using Blended Fuels

Ifyou choose to use a blended fuel, or its use is unavoidable, follow

recommended precautions:

• Always use the fresh fuel mix explained inyour operator's manual

Always agitate the fuel mix before fueling the unit

Drain the tank and run the engine dry before storing the unit

Using Fuel Additives

The bottle of 2-cycle oil that came with your unit contains afuel

additive which will help inhibit corrosion and minimize the formation of

gum deposits. It is recommended that you use our 2-cycle oil with this

unit. If unavailable, use a good 2-cycle oil de-signed for air-cooled

engines along with afuel additive, such as STA-BIL® Gas Stabilizer or

an equivalent. Add 0.8 oz. (23 ml) of fuel additive per gallon of fuel

according to the instructions on the container. NEVER add fuel

additives directly to the unit's fuel tank.

_ AUTION: For proper engine operation and maximum

reliability, pay strict attention to the oil and fuel mixing

instructions on the 2-cycle oil container. Using improperly

mixed fuel can severely damage the engine.

Thoroughly mix the proper ratio of 2-cycle engine oil with unleaded

gasoline ina separate fuel can. Use a 40:1 fuel/oil ratio. Do not mix

them directly in the engine fuel tank. See the table below for specific

gas and oil mixing ratios.

NOTE: One gallon (3.8 liters)

of unleaded gasoline

WARNING: Operate this unit only in a well-ventilatedoutdoor area. Carbon monoxide exhaust fumes can be

lethal in a confined area.

WARNING: Avoid accidental starting. Make sure you are

in the starting position when pulling the starter rope (Fig. 5).

To avoid serious injury, the operator and unit must be

in a stable position while starting.

STARTING iNSTRUCTiONS

2. Fill the fuel tank with the

fuel/oil mixture.

NOTE: There is no need to

turn the unit on. The

the engine attempt to start. There is no needto pull the rope

briskly-- there is no harsh resistance when pulling. Be aware that

this starting method is vastly different from (and much easier than)

what you may be used to.

NOTE: If the unit is hot and fails to start within 3 pulls of the starter

rope, squeeze the throttle control and pull the starter rope

until the unit starts.

STOPPING iNSTRUCTiONS

1. Release your hand from the throttle control. Allow the engine to

cool down by idling.

2. Press and hold On/Off Control in the OFF (O) position until

engine comes to a complete stop (Fig. 6).

OPERATING TiPS

WARNING: Dress properly to reduce the risk of injury

when operating this unit. Do not wear loose clothing or

jewelry. Wear eye and ear/hearing protection. Wear heavy

long pants, boots and gloves. Do not wear short pants,

sandals or operate barefoot.

1. Move the cultivator to the work area prior to starting the engine.

Transport the cultivator by pushing it on its wheels or by

carrying it by the transport grip.

WARNING: Toprevent serious personal injury, neverpick-up or carry the unit while the engine is running.

2. Start the unit by following the Starting Instructions.

3. With the engine running and the

tines off the ground, depress the

throttle control to increase the

engine speed.

4. Holding both of the handlebar grips

firmly, slowly lower the cultivator _ "'

7. To improve the depth of cultivation,

pull back on the unit as it moves forward to drive the tines

deeper into the ground.

8. If the tines are digging too deep or not deep enough, adjust

them according to Adjusting Tine Depth.

TRANSPORTING THE UNiT

I _IL I WARNING: Toprevent serious personal injury, always

stop the engine when operation is delayed or when

transporting the unit from one location to another

1. Stop the engine.

2. Slide the wheel bracket assembly all the way down.

3. Tilt the unit back until the tines clear the ground.

4. Push or pull the unit to the next location.

5. Ifyou need to move the unit over long distances, use the

transport grip.

MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE The tines are stamped "A" or "B." The tine order should be "B, A,

Perform these required maintenance procedures at the frequency

stated in the table. These procedures should also be a part of any

seasonal tune-up.

In order to assure peak performance of your engine, inspection of the

engine exhaust port may be necessary after 50 hours of operation. If

you notice lost RPM, poor performance or general lack of acceleration,

this service may be required. Ifyou feel your engine is in need of this

inspection, refer service to a Sears or other qualified service dealer.

Call 1=800=4-MY-HOME® for more information. DO NOT attempt to

perform this process yourself as engine damage may result from

contaminants involved in the cleaning process for the port.

TINE REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT

All 4 tines should be replaced at the same time because they will

wear evenly through normal use. Work on one side at a time.

1. Press and hold the Start (0/Stop (O) Control in the Stop (O)

position until the unit

comes to a complete stop

and disconnect the spark

plug boot from the plug.

NOTE: It may be necessary

to lay the cultivator

back in a horizontal

position on a flat level

surface with the

handles touching the

ground.

NOTE:

each end of the tine shaft.

Slide the tines off of the

shaft (Fig. 10).

Clean and oil the shaft.

When you are reinstalling

tines, lay out the tines and

compare them to those

shown in Figure 11. Note "A" Tine

specifics about each tine: Fig. 11

its hub, curvature and

lettering ("A" or "B"). This will help make sure that you are

placing the correct tines in the correct order.

If you look closely, you can see a slight curvature in the tine

tips. These curves should point toward the front of the

cultivator when the tines are installed. Figure 11 shows the

curve in each tine.

5. Using Figures 10 and 11 for reference, slide on the new tines

with the hubs facing outward.

6. Secure the new tines to the shaft with click pins. It may be

necessary to wash the dirt off the tines and shaft to help during

this entire process.

AIR FILTER MAINTENANCE

Remove the four (4)screws

securing the air filter/

muffler cover (Fig. 12). Use

aflat blade or T20 Torx bit

screwdriver.

2. Turn cover over and look

inside to locate the air filter. Fig. 14

Remove the air filter from

inside the air filter/muffler

cover (Fig. 13).

3. Wash the filter in detergent

and water (Fig. 14). Rinse

the filter thoroughly.

Squeeze out excess water.

Allow it to dry completely.

4. Apply enough clean SAE Fig. 15

30 oil to lightly coat the

filter (Fig. 15).

5. Squeeze the filter to

spread and remove

excess oil (Fig. 16).

6. Replace the air filter

inside the air filter/muffler

cover (Fig. 13).

NOTE: Operating the unit

without the air filter Fig. 16

and air filter/muffler cover assembly will VOID the warranty.

Reinstalling the Air Filter/Muffler Cover

1. Place the air filter/muffler cover over the back of the carburetor

and muffler. Align the screw holes.

2. Insert the four (4) screws into the holes in the air filter/muffler

cover (Fig. 13) and tighten. Do not over tighten.

SPARK ARRESTOR MAINTENANCE

NOTE: Pay close attention when disassembling the muffler so you

can put it back together correctly. Failure to do so will

damage the unit and may cause serious personal injury.

1. Remove air filter/muffler cover. Refer to Removing the Air

Filter/Muffler Cover.

2. Locate the muffler, but do not remove it. Findthe screw on the

bottom of the muffler (Fig. 17).This screw holds the Spark Arrestor

Hood Assembly and the spark arrestor screen to the bottom of the

muffler.Remove this screw using either aTorx T20 or flat blade

screwdriver.

4. Clean the spark arrestor screen with a wire brush. Replace it if it

is damaged, or if you are unable to clean it thoroughly.

5. Reinstall the spark arrestor screen by putting the "raised"

portion of the screen inside the recessed hole of the muffler.

Make sure that the spark arrestor screen fits flat against the

muffler.

6. Place the spark arrestor hood on top of the spark arrestor plate

with the "raised" side up and the opening facing AWAY from the

engine (Fig. 17). Verify that the exhaust will be directed AWAY 2.

from the engine.

7. Replace the screw you removed in Step 2 and tighten securely. 3.

8. Reinstall the air filter/muffler cover (Fig. 12).

damage to the unit and possible serious personal injury.

CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT

NOTE: Careless adjustments can seriously damage your unit. Contact

a Sears or other qualified service dealer to make carburetor

adjustments. Call 1-800-4-MY-HOME_">for more information.

REPLACING THE SPARK PLUG 1.

Use a Champion RDJ7Y spark plug or equivalent. Remove the plug

after every 25 hours of operation and check its condition. 2.

1. Stop the engine and allow it to cool. Grasp the plug boot firmly

and pull it from the spark plug. 3.

I_ WARNING: Do not sand blast, scrape or clean spark plug 1

electrodes. Grit in the engine could damage the cylinder. 4.

inch socket 5.

4. Install a correctly-gapped spark plug in the cylinder head. Tighten by

turning the 5/8-inch socket clockwise until snug. Ifusing atorque

wrench, torque to:

110-120 in.olb. (12.3-13.5 N,m). Do not over-tighten.

5. Reattach the plug boot.

TRANSPORTING

• Allow the engine to cool before transporting.

Drain fuel from unit.

Tighten fuel cap before transporting.

Secure the unit while transporting.

CLEANING

Use asmall brush to clean off the outside of the unit. Do not use strong

detergents. Household cleaners that contain aromatic oils such as pine

and lemon, and solvents such as kerosene, can damage plastic housing

or handle. Wipe off any moisture with asoft cloth.

STO RAG E

Neverstore afueled unit where fumes may reach an open flame or spark.

Allow the engine to cool before storing.

Store the unit locked up to prevent unauthorized use or damage.

Store the unit in a dry, well-ventilated area.

Store the unit out of the reach of children.

LONG TERM STORAGE

Ifyou plan on storing the unit for an extended time, use the

following storage procedure:

1. Carefully drain the fuel tank by running the unit dry or remove

fuel cap and tip the motor housing over and drain oil/gas fuel

into a container with the same 2-cycle fuel mixture. Do not use

fuel that has been stored for more than 60 days.

Start the engine and allow it to run until it stalls. This ensures

that all fuel has been drained from the carburetor.

Allow the engine to cool. Remove the spark plug and put 5

drops of any high quality motor oil or 2-cycle oil into the

cylinder. Pull the starter rope slowly to distribute the oil.

Reinstall the spark plug.

NOTE: Remove the spark plug and drain all of the oil from the

cylinder before attempting to start the unit after storage.

4. Thoroughly clean the unit and inspect it for any loose or

damaged parts. Repair or replace damaged parts and tighten

loose screws, nuts or bolts. The unit is ready for storage.

MOVING THE UNIT

Allow the unit to cool

before moving.

Loosen the knobs on the

handlebar.

Fold the handlebars down

as shown (Fig. 19).

Tighten the knobs.

Either carry the unit by

the shaft tube grip or

grasp the center of the

handlebar to use it as a

unidad sin la tapa de combustible bien colocada en su lugar. Afloje

la tapa del tanque de combustible lentamente para aliviar cualquier

presi6n que haya en el tanque.

Agregue elcombustible en un Area exterior bien ventilada, donde no

haya chispas ni llamas. Quite lentamente la tapa de combustible

s61odespues de haber parado el motor. No fume mientras este

Ilenando de combustible o mezclandolo. Limpie de la unidad

inmediatamente cualquier combustible derramado. Seque siempre

la unidad antes de usarla.

Mueva siempre la unida a 30 pies (9.1 m) como minimo de la fuente y

manubrio debera colocarse en la posiciSn adecuada antesde laoperacbn.

1. Afloje las dos perillas del lado interior del manubrio (Fig. 1).

2. Con la unidad en posici6n vertical, gire el manubrio hacia arriba

hasta la posici6n de operaci6n (Fig. 1).

1. Con la unidad sobre su lado, coloque el ensamble de soporte de

la rueda en el lado inferior de la protecci6n de las pQas (Fig. 3).

2. Instale un perno de carro atraves de cada uno de los orificios

ranurados del soporte de la rueda yen la protecci6n de las pQas.

3. Instale una arandela de seguridad y una tuerca de mariposa en

cada uno de los pernos de la parte superior de la protecci6n de

las pQas (Fig. 3).

4. Verifique que el hombro cuadrado de los pernos haya atravesado

los orificios ranurados del

soporte de la rueda. Ajuste

las tuercas de mariposa

(Fig. 4).

AJUSTE DE LA

PROFUNDIDAD

El ajuste de las pQas podra

variar de acuerdo al tipo de

tierra que cultiva y el modo en

que sera usado. En general,

se recomienda ajustar las

pQas para abrir latierra de 4 a

6 pulgadas para la mayoria de

los jardines. Ajuste las pQas

2. Afloje (no retire) las dos tuercas de mariposa de la protecci6n

de las pQas (Fig. 5).

3. Deslice el ensamble del soporte de la rueda hacia abajo para

Iograr una penetraci6n mas superficial, y hacia arriba para

Iograr una penetraci6n mas profunda.

4. Una vez que las pQas se encuentran en la posici6n deseada,

ajuste las tuercas de mariposa, verificando que los pernos de

carro estan bien sentados a traves del soporte.

5. Si la profundidad de las pQas no es correcta, repita los pasos 2 a 4.

6. Vuelva a conectar el cable de la bujia de encendido y continQe

SU USO.

INSTRUCCIONES PARA MEZCLAR EL ACEITE Y EL COMBUSTIBLE

El combustible viejo o mal mezclado son los motivos principales del mal

funcionamiento de la unidad. AsegQrese de usar combustible nuevo,

limpio y sin plomo. Siga las instrucciones en detalle para mezclar

correctamente el aceite y el combustible.

Definici6n de los combustibles de mezcla

Loscombustibles actualescon frecuencia son unamezclade gasolinay

oxigenantescomo porejemplo etanol, metanolo MTBE (eter).Elcombustible

mezclado con alcohol absorbeagua. Unacantidad tan pequeSacomo el 1%

de aguaen elcombustible puede causar laseparaci6n delcombustible y el

aceite.Formaacidos cuando esta almacenado. Cuando use combustible

mezclado con alcohol, usecombustible nuevo(demenos de 60 dias).

Uso de combustibles de mezcla

Si usted opta pot usar un combustible de mezcla o si su uso es

inevitable, tome las precauciones recomendadas.

• Use siempre una mezcla fresca de combustible segQn Io indica su

manual del operador.

• Agite siempre lamezcla de combustible antes de cargado en la unidad.

• Drene el tanque y haga funcionar el motor en seco antes de

guardar la unidad.

Uso de aditivos en el combustible

La botella de aceitede 2 ciclos que vino con su unidad contiene un aditivo

en elcombustible que ayudara ainhibirla corrosi6n y a reducir la formaci6n

de dep6sitos de goma. Se recomienda que uses61oel aceite de 2 ciclos

con esta unidad. Si es inevitable,use un buen aceite de 2ciclos elaborado

para motores enfriados por airejunto con un aditivo para elcombustible

como por ejemplo elestabilizador de gasolina STA-BIL® o similar.Agregue

23 mL (0,8onzas) de aditivo de combustible por gal6nde combustible de

acuerdo con las instruccionesdel envase. NUNCA agregue aditivos

directamente en eltanque de combustible de la unidad.

_ RECAUCION: Paraque el motor funcione correctamente

y con la mayor fiabilidad, preste mucha atenci6n alas

instruccionesde mezcla de aceite y combustible del envasede

aceite de 2 ciclos. El uso de combustible mezclado en forma

incorrectapuede daSar seriamente el motor.

Mezcle bien la proporci6n correcta de aceite para motor de 2ciclos y

gasolina sin plomo en unalata de combustible por separado. Use una

proporci6n de 40:1 de combustible y aceite. No los mezcle directamente en

eltanque de combustible de la unidad. Consulte las proporciones

especificas de mezcla de gasolina y aceite en latabla siguiente.

ADVERTENClA: La gasolina es muy inflamable. Los

La unidad usa INCREDI=PULL TM Io cual reduce

considerablemente el esfuerzo requerido para arrancar el

motor. Debe halar el cord6n de arranque Io suficiente para

oir que el motor trata de arrancar. No es necesario halar el

cord6n con energia: no hay fuerte resistencia al halar.

Tenga en cuenta que este metodo de arranque es muy

diferente (y mucho mb,sfb,cil) del que usted pudiera estar

acostumbrado a usar.

SL. El motor no arranca, regrese al paso 3.

NOTA: Si la unidad estb`caliente y no Iogra arrancar despues de

halar 3 veces el cord6n de arranque, apriete el control del

obturador y hale el cord6n de arranque hasta que la unidad

arranque.

INSTRUCCIONES DE APAGADO

1. Saque la mano del control del regulador. Deje enfriar el motor

en marcha en vacio.

2. Coloque el control de encendido y apagado en posici6n de

APAGADO (O) (Fig. 6).

CONSEJOS PARA LA OPERACION

j _ _ADVERTENClA: Vista en forma adecuada para reducir

el riesgo de lesiones cuando opere esta unidad. No use

ropa holgada ni alhajas. Use protecci6n ocular y auditiva.

Use pantalones largos y gruesos, botas y guantes. No use

pantalones cortos, sandalias ni trabaje descalzo.

1. Transporte el cultivador hacia el b,reade trabajo antes de

arrancar el motor. Puede transportar el cultivador empujb,ndolo

sobre ruedas.

_j_ ADVERTENCIA: Para evitar graves lesiones personales,nunca levante ni transporte launidad con el motor en marcha.

2. Arranque la unidad siguiendo las instrucciones de arranque.

3. Con el motor en marcha y las pOas

sin tocar el suelo, optima el control

del regulador para aumentar la

velocidad del motor.

Mientras sostiene ambos mangos

del manubrio, baje lentamente el

cultivador hasta que las pOas hacen

contacto con el suelo (Fig. 9).

A medida que comienza la actividad

de cultivo, mueva el cultivador hacia

atrb,s de modo que las pOas puedan

penetrar en la tierra.

Una vez que se ha abierto la tierra,

continOe a un ritmo moderado

hasta que conozca bien los

controles y el manejo del cultivador. Fig. 9

Para mejorar la profundidad de cultivo, hale hacia atrb,s launidad a

medida que avance para que penetren mb,slas pQas en la tierra.

_ DVERTENClA: Para evitar graves lesiones personales,

tenga mucho cuidado cuando invierta o gire la unidad hacia

usted.

8. Si las pQas estb,n cavando a una profundidad excesiva o

insuficiente, ajuste las pOas de acuerdo a la secci6n Ajuste de

la profundidad de las pOas.

TRANSPORTE DE LA UNIDAD

j _ _ADVERTENClA: Para evitar graves lesiones personales,

apague siempre el motor cuando demote la operaci6n o

mientras transporta la unidad entre b,reasde trabajo.

1. Apague el motor.

2. Deslice el ensambb del soporte de la rueda totaimente hacia abajo.

3. incline la unidad hacia atrb,shasta que las pOasdesmabzan la tierra.

4. Empuje o Ileve la unidad hasta el pr6ximo lugar que deba cultivar.

5. Si necesita trasladar la unidad largas distancias, use el agarre

de transporte.

caracteristicas de cada diente: su cubo, curvatura y letra ("A"o "B").

Esto ayudara a garantizar que est& colocando los dientes correctos

en el orden correcto.

NOTA: Si se fija con atenci6n, puede vet una ligera curvatura en

las puntas de los dientes. Estas curvas deberan apuntar

hacia el frente del cultivador cuando se instalan los dientes.

La Figura 11 muestra la curva de cada diente.

5. Usando las Figuras 10 y 11 como referencia, deslice los nuevos

dientes con los cubos hacia afuera.

Los dientes tienen estampadas "A" o "B." El orden de los

dientes debera ser "B, A, B, A" de izquierda a derecha al estar

de frente a la parte delantera del cultivador.

6. Asegure los nuevos dientes al arbol con chavetas de trinquete.

MANTENIMIENTO DEL FILTRO DE AIRE

_ DVERTENClA: Para evitar graves lesiones personales,

apague siempre su recortador y espere que se enfrie antes

de limpiarlo o realizar todo tipo de mantenimiento.

La condici6n del filtro de aire es

importante para la operaci6n de

la unidad. Un filtro de aire sucio

limitara el flujo de aire y

cambiara la mezcla de

combustible y aire en el

carburador. Esto con frecuencia

se confunde con un carburador

mal ajustado. Verifique la

condici6n del filtro de aire antes

de ajustar el tornillo de marcha

lenta. Consulte Mantenimiento

del Filtro de Aire.

4. Aplique suficiente aceite limpio SAE 30 para recubrir

ligeramente el filtro (Fig. 15).

5. Apriete el filtro para esparcir y retirar el exceso de aceite (Fig. 16).

6. Cambie el filtro de aire dentro de la tapa del filtro de aire /

silenciador (Fig. 12).

NOTA" Si opera la unidad sin el filtro de aire y el ensamble de la

cubierta del silenciador / filtro de aire, su garantia quedara

AN ULADA.

Reinstalaci6n de la cubierta del silenciador/filtro de aire

1. Coloque la cubierta del silenciador / filtro de aire sobre la parte

posterior del carburador y del silenciador. Alinee los orificios de

los tornillos.

2. Inserte los cuatro (4) tornillos en los orificios de la

cubierta del silenciador / filtro de aire (Fig. 13) y ajQstelos. No

los ajuste demasiado.

MANTENIMIENTO DEL PARACHISPAS

NOTA: El flujo de las emisiones puede ser en una direcci6n solamente:

APARTANDOSEdel motor. Preste mucha atenci6n ac6mo se

ensambla el silenciador,de modo que Io pueda volver a armar

exactamente como estA. El no hacerlo ad da_arAa la unidad y

pudiera causar lesiones personales graves.

1. Quite el filtro de aire / tapa del silenciador. Ver Remoci6n de la

Tapa del Filtro /

Silenciador.

2. Localice el silenciador,

pero no Io quite. Busque

el tornillo en la parte

inferior del silenciador

(Fig. 17). Quite el tornillo

usando una Ilave torx No.

20 o un destornillador

piano.

3. Levante cuidadosamente

izquierdo de la cubierta del parachispas. Dos lengQetas actQan

como bisagras en el lado derecho de la cubierta. Abra con un

golpe rapido la cubierta del parachispas, como si fuera una

puerta, y despues hale las lengQetas para sacarlas de las

ranuras del silenciador.

4. Con un destornillador de punta plana, levante cuidadosamente

haciendo palanca la rejilla del parachispas, sacandola del

interior de la cubierta del parachispas.

5. Limpie la rejila del parachispas con un cepillo de cerdas metalicas.

Cambiela siesta da_ada o si no la puede limpiar completamente.

6. Reinstale la rejilla del parachispas, ajustandola en forma ce_ida

de nuevo en la cubierta del parachispas.

7. Reinstale las dos lengQetas de la cubierta en las dos ranuras y

cierre la cubierta del parachispas con un golpe rapido.

8. Vuelva a colocar el tornillo que quit6 en el Paso 2 y aprietele

firmemente.

I _ I ADVERTENOIA: si el cap6 del parachispas Y pantalla de' i

parachispas no se aprieta fijamente se puede caer y causarle

dano a la unidad y posibles lesiones personales graves.

9. Reinstale la tapa del filtro de aire / silenciador.

AJUSTE DEL CARBURADOR

NOTA: Los ajustes realizados sin cuidado pueden danar seriamente su

CAMBIO DE LA BUJIA DE ENCENDIDO

Use una bujia de encendido Champion RDJ7Y (o similar). La

separaci6n correcta es de 0,635 mm (0,025 pulgadas). Retire la

bujia luego de cada 25 horas de operaci6n e inspeccione su estado.

1. Apague el motor y espere que se enfrie. Tome el alambre de la

bujia con firmeza y saquelo de la bujia de encendido.

2. Limpie alrededor de la bujia de encendido. Saque la bujia de

encendido de la cabeza del cilindro girando una Ilave de

casquillo de 5/8 de pulgada en sentido antihorario.

3. Cambie las bujias que

esten rajadas, sucias o

deterioradas. Fije la

separaci6n de aire a

0,635 mm (0,025

pulgadas) utilizando un

calibrador (Fig. 18). 0,025 pulg. 1

4. Instale una bujia de (0,635mm) t

encendido con la

separaci6n correcta en la

cabeza del cilindro. Fig. 18

Ajuste girando la Ilave de casquillo de 5/8 pulg. en sentido

horario hasta que este ajustada sin huelgo.

_[ ADVERTENCIA: No limpie con chorro de arena, ni

raspe ni limpie los electrodos. El motor podria da5arse si

penetran peque5as particulas en el cilindro.

Si usa una Ilave de torsi6n, ajuste a:

12,3-13,5 N,m (110-120 pulg.olibras). No ajuste demasiado.

TRANSPORTE

• Espere que el motor se enfrie antes de su transporte.

• Drene el combustible de la unidad.

Ajuste la tapa del combustible antes del transporte.

Asegure la unidad durante su transporte.

LIMPIEZA

_L_ DVERTENClA: Para evitar graves lesiones personales,

apague siempre su recortador y espere que se enfrie antes

de limpiarlo o realizar cualquier tipo de mantenimiento.

Use un cepillo pequer_o para limpiar la parte exterior de la unidad.

No use detergentes fuertes. Los limpiadores domesticos que

contienen aceites aromaticos como pino y lim6n, y con solventes

como el queroseno pueden dar_ar el bastidor de plAstico y la

manija. Seque toda la humedad con un patio suave.

ALMACENAMIENTO

= No guarde nunca la unidad con combustible en el tanque donde

los vapores puedan Ilegar a una llama o chispa.

Espere que el motor se enfrie antes de guardar la unidad.

Guarde la unidad bajo Ilave para prevenir el uso por

personas no autorizadas y su dado.

Guarde la unidad en un Area seca y bien ventilada.

Guarde la unidad fuera del alcance de los nidos.

ALMACENAMIENTO PROLONGADO

Si planea guardar la unidad durante un largo periodo de tiempo,

siga el siguiente procedimiento para su almacenamiento.

1. Drene todo el combustible del tanque de combustible en un

recipiente que contenga la misma mezcla de combustible de 2

ciclos. No use combustible que haya permanecido guardado

durante mas de 60 dias. Deseche la mezcla vieja de

combustible y aceite de acuerdo alas regulaciones federales,

estatales y locales.

2. Arranque el motor y dejelo funcionar hasta que se ahogue. Esto

asegura que todo el combustible ha sido drenado del

carburador.

3. Espere que el motor se enfrie. Quitele la bujia y eche 5 gotas de

cualquier aceite de motor de 2 tiempos de alta calidad en el

cilindro. Tire de la cuerda de arranque lentamente para esparcir

el aceite. Vuelva a instalar la bujia de encendido.

NOTA: Saque la bujia de encendido y drene todo el aceite del

cilindro antes de intentar arrancar el recortador despues de

su almacenamiento.

Limpie bien la unidad e inspeccione para ver si existen partes

flojas o dadadas. Repare o cambie las partes da_adas y ajuste

los tornillos, tuercas o pernos que puedan estar flojos. La

unidad esta ahora lista para ser guardada.

TRANSPORTE DE LA

UNIDAD

1. Dejeque la unidad se

enfrie antes de

transportarla.

2. Afloje las perillas del

manubrio.

3. Pliegue el manubrio hacia

abajo segQn se ilustra

(Fig. 19).

4. Transporte la unidad ya

sea por el mango del tubo

del eje o tome el centro

del manubrio para usarlo

como manija de

transporte (Fig. 20).

5. Luego de haber

transportado la unidad,

vuelva a colocar el

manubrio en su lugar y

continue la operaci6n.
