Grout: creative opportunity?
In designing a tiled surface, it’s quite amazing how much a seemingly minor element such as grout can affect the final result, from both
a technical and aesthetic perspective.
This is especially evident in mosaic surfaces whose final appearance may have aesthetic effects that are completely different depending
on the grouting finish chosen.
Even from a technical point of view, the seamlessness of the grouting with the tiles is important to ensure continuity of the mechanical,
physical and chemical resistance of the entire surface.

The most advanced sealant
for joint on the market
Starlike
®
is the only product in the world that can be used in 3
different ways:
1) epoxy filler for grouting;
2) R-2T class adhesive (improved reactive adhesive with no
vertical slip);
3) decorative wall finish (including the additive Decor).
As an adhesive, it is particularly recommended in the case of
installation of thin mosaic. As a wall finish, it creates unique
decorative solutions, levelling the walls with the same colour as
the grouting.

El sellador para juntas más avanzado

Starlike

modos distintos:
1) material de relleno epoxídico para juntas;
2) mortero adhesivo de clase R-2T (mortero adhesivo
reactivo mejorado con deslizamiento vertical nulo);
3) mortero decorativo para paredes (con la añadidura del
aditivo Decor).
Se aconseja como mortero adhesivo especialmente en el caso
de colocación de mosaico de bajo espesor; como mortero
decorativo permite crear soluciones decorativas únicas
enrasando las paredes con el mismo color de las juntas.

perfectamente con los azulejos
Sellador epoxídico bicomponente para la colocación y el
rejuntado de azulejos de cerámica y mosaicos con juntas de
amplitud comprendida entre 1 y 15 mm.
Fácil de aplicar y limpiar, el rejuntado se integra perfectamente
con los azulejos asegurando la resistencia mecánica y química
de toda la superficie.

The joints are always the critical point in terms of cleanliness of a tiled surface.

is completely waterproof and makes the grouting surface stain-proof and easy to wash with normal detergents on the market.
The benefits of easy-to-clean grouting that doesn’t absorb liquids or stains
Absorbent cement grouting is the critical point in cleanliness of tiled surfaces. It is therefore liable to deteriorate for the following reasons:
• accumulation of dirt that leads to the proliferation of bacteria and the development of molds and fungi;
• discolouration and chromatic variations, eforescence.
These processes of degradation increase in the presence of moisture and steam such as in bathrooms and kitchens.
Unlike cement grout, epoxy grouting is bacteriostatic, it does not absorb liquids and dirt and can therefore be easily washed.
It additionally prevents the proliferation of mold and fungi ensuring absolute hygiene of the grouting.

Desde siempre, la junta de cemento absorbente es el punto crítico de la limpieza de una superficie azulejada: de hecho está sujeta al
deterioro por los siguientes motivos:
• acumulación de suciedad que conlleva la proliferación bacteriana y la producción de mohos y hongos;
• decoloración y variaciones cromáticas, eorescencias.
Estos procesos de deterioro aumentan en presencia de humedad y vapor, especialmente en los cuartos de baño y las cocinas.
A diferencia del rejuntado de cemento, el estucado epoxídico es bacteriostático; no absorbe líquidos ni suciedad y por tanto se puede
lavar fácilmente; impide la proliferación de mohos y hongos asegurando así la higiene absoluta de la junta.

Remove the old grout with the grout rake (Art. 925G) for at least 2 mm of thickness, taking care of cleaning the tiles sides.
To remove the residues of dust.
Apply Starlike
®
using the special green rubber trowel (Art.946GR) filling completely the grouts.
Perform an initial cleaning using the trowel equipped with moistened white feltt (Art.109/G).
The surface grouting finish should be carried out using sponge in sweepex (Art. 128/G) and water.
Possible present halos on the tiles can be removed after 24 hours using the cleansing Litonet.

Crystal, the translucent sealant specially for vitreous
and artistic mosaic grouting
• Allows the grouting to “absorb” the colour of the transparent glass tiles and to change according to their colour
• Translucent grouting has a neutral tone that highlights the colours of artistic mosaics without interfering with the composition
• Inert base sealant made of very ne grain glass micro-beads for a smooth and easy to clean application
• In the case of transparent glass mosaics mounted on paper,
it is possible to create backlit internal walls consisting of
transparent substrates in glass or Plexiglas.
In this case, fixing will be done with a suitable transparent
cartridge adhesive.

• Permite que la junta “absorba” el color de las teselas de
vidrio transparente y se modifique en función de su color
• Las juntas translúcidas tienen una tonalidad neutra que
resalta los colores de los mosaicos artísticos, sin interferir
en la composición
• Sellador a base de inertes y microesferas de vidrio de
granulometría fina para una aplicación sencilla y fácil de
limpiar
• En el caso de mosaicos de vidrio transparente montados
sobre papel, se pueden realizar paredes internas
retroiluminadas formadas por soportes transparentes de
vidrio o plexiglás.
En este caso el encolado se efectuará con un adecuado
adhesivo transparente en cartucho.

Mix using an electric drill equipped with mixing paddle.
Scrape the walls of the bucket to eliminate all parts of

The joints must be dry. Introduce the mortar into the joints
using the suitable green rubber float (art. 946GR) spreading
diagonally across the joints. Remove the excess product.

The grout must be cleaned while the product is still wet.
Sprinkle clean water. Initial cleaning using a moistened white
felt (art. 109/G) making circular movements.
Ensure no water enters the joints.

Now perform a second cleaning with a rigid cellulose sponge
(art. 128/G).

Any stains of the transparent product can be removed after
24 hours or anyway after the gap has hardened.
Use LITONET (floors) or LITONET GEL (walls).
Spread Litonet or Litonet Gel with the white felt.

Leave on for 15-30 minutes.
Scrub the surface with the white felt.

Rinse with clean water. Dry immediately with a clean cloth
and do not wait for the evaporation of the rinse water.

Apply Starlike as a levelling layer on suitable structures
treated with DECOR PRIMER FONDO.

Pour the fluidiser Starlike Decor pre-measured for 1 and
2.5 kg of Starlike. Mix using an electric drill equipped with
mixing paddle.
Scrape the walls of the bucket to eliminate all parts of non-
catalysed product.

correspondiente para preparar 1 y 2,5 kg de Starlike.

Special finishes (Spotlight and Gold):

CLOUDY EFFECT: first smoothing coat with Starlike and
plastic smooth spatula (art. 103/Pro). Second coat after
about 24 hours.
FRESCO EFFECT: apply another colour over the second coat
of Starlike before it has set.
OPAQUE EFFECT: 3 or more coats of the same colour, 24 hours
between each coat, with plastic smooth spatula (art. 103/Pro).
SINGLE-COLOUR SPATOLATO EFFECT: apply in irregular fashion
with smooth spatula in variable thicknesses from 1 to 2 mm
and sand down the crests after drying. Final smoothing coat
in the same colour with a rubber spatula (art. 946GR).
TWO-COLOUR SPATOLATO EFFECT: final smoothing coat with
a different colour.
EFECTO NUBLADO: primer raspado “a cero” con Starlike y
espátula lisa de plástico (Art.103/Pro). Segundo raspado
dentro de aprox. 24 horas.
EFECTO DE FRESCO: sobre la segunda mano de Starlike no
seca, aplicar otro color.
EFECTO DE COBERTURA: 3 o más manos del mismo color, a 24
horas una de la otra, con espátula lisa de plástico (Art.103 Pro).
EFECTO ESPATULADO CON UN COLOR: aplicar de manera
irregular con espátula lisa con espesores variables de 1 a 2 mm
y después del secado lijar las crestas. Sucesivo raspado a cero
del mismo color mediante espátula de goma (Art. 946GR.)
EFECTO ESPATULADO CON DOS COLORES: Sucesivo raspado
a cero con otro color

Having finished coating decorate with Starlike (without
the addition of the fluidiser Starlike Decor) and the special
StenDecor stencils.

For maximum protection from the most difficult stains (coffee
and felt-tip pens) protect with Litolux or Litolux Extra finishing
wax applied with a short-haired roller.
