1 Introduction
Thank you for your purchase. The information contained in
this manual will help you receive maximum performance and
satisfaction from your STIHL backpack battery and, if
followed, reduce the risk of injury from its use.
SAVE THIS MANUAL!
Do not lend or rent your backpack battery without this
instruction manual. Allow only persons who fully understand
the information in this manual to use the backpack battery.

The following safety symbols are found on the backpack
battery:

To reduce the risk of injury, follow the specified
safety precautions.
Read and follow all safety precautions in this
instruction manual and the manual for the STIHL
tool powered by this battery. Improper use can
lead to serious or fatal personal injury or property
damage.
To reduce the risk of personal injury or property
damage from fire, explosion or burns, including
chemical burns, do not disassemble, crush,
drop, damage or heat the battery above 212 °F
(100 °C). Never expose it to fire or incinerate,
@ 5.1.
To reduce the risk of personal injury or property
damage from a short circuit, fire or explosion,
keep the battery dry. Protect it from rain, water,
liquids and damp conditions. Never immerse the
battery in water or other liquids, @ 5.1.
To reduce the risk of personal injury or property
damage from fire, use and store the battery only
within an ambient temperature range of 14 °F to
122 °F (- 10 °C to 50 °C), @ 5.1.

5.1 Battery Warnings and Instructions
WARNING
￭ Use of STIHL AR batteries for any purpose other than
powering the STIHL tools listed below could lead to
personal injury and property damage. Use only with the
following STIHL power tools:
– STIHL MSA chain saws (see important exceptions
below)
– STIHL HTA pole pruners
– STIHL FSA trimmers and brush cutters
– STIHL HSA hedge trimmers
– STIHL HLA extended reach hedge trimmers
– STIHL BGA blowers
￭ Do not use STIHL AR batteries with STIHL TSA cut-off
machines or STIHL RMA lawn mowers. Use with these
products could lead to severe personal injury and property
damage from entanglement of the connecting cord, loss of
control, or loss of balance.
￭ Do not use STIHL AR batteries with STIHL MSA
top

handle chain saws while climbing in a tree for in-tree
surgery and maintenance. Use could lead to severe
personal injury and property damage from entanglement
of the connecting cord, loss of control, or loss of balance.
Always use a lift bucket for in-tree surgery and
maintenance if using an AR battery with a MSA top-handle
chain saw. Do not climb in the tree with an AR battery.
￭ Use of unauthorized chargers can damage the battery and
result in fire, explosion and personal injury and property
damage.
– Charge STIHL AR batteries only with genuine STIHL
AL 300 or STIHL AL 500 series chargers.
￭ The battery contains safety features and devices which, if
damaged, may allow the battery to generate heat, rupture,
leak, ignite or explode.
– Never use or charge a malfunctioning, damaged,
cracked, leaking or deformed battery.
– Never open, disassemble, crush, drop, subject to
heavy impact or otherwise damage the battery.
– Never expose the battery to microwaves or high
pressures.
– Never insert objects into the battery's cooling slots.
– Never sit or stand on the battery. Never place
objects on the battery or stack batteries on top of
one another.
￭ High temperatures may cause the battery to generate
heat, rupture, leak, ignite or explode, resulting in severe or
fatal personal injury and property damage. Exposure to
temperatures outside the recommended temperature
range may also reduce battery life and performance.
5 IMPORTANT SAFETY
INSTRUCTIONS
– Never heat the battery above 212 °F
(100 °C).
– Never incinerate or place the battery on
or near fires, stoves or other high-
temperature locations.
– Use and store the battery only within an
ambient temperature range of 14 °F to
122 °F (-10 °C to 50 °C).
– Never store the battery in direct sunlight
or inside a vehicle in hot weather.

￭ To reduce the risk of personal injury and property damage
in the event the battery emits smoke, an unusual smell or
feels unusually hot while using, charging or storing:
– Immediately discontinue using or charging the
battery. If you are using it, remove it from your back.
Maintain a safe distance and prepare to contact the
authorities in the event of fire or explosion.
￭ To reduce the risk of a short circuit, which could lead to
electric shock, fire and explosion:
– Keep a battery that is not in use away from metal
objects (e.g., paper clips, nails, coins, keys).
– Never transport or store the battery in a metal
container.
– Store the battery indoors in a dry room.
– Never store the battery in damp or corrosive
environments or in conditions that could lead to
corrosion of its metal components.
– Never store the battery connected to the power tool
or charger.
– Protect the battery from exposure to corrosive
agents such as garden chemicals and de-icing salts.
– Protect the battery from exposure to conductive
liquids such as salt water.
– Do not attempt to repair, open or disassemble the
battery. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
￭ Leaking battery fluid is potentially harmful and can cause
skin and eye irritation, chemical burns and other serious
personal injury.
– Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
– Use an inert absorbent such as sand on spilled
battery fluid.
– In the event of accidental contact, immediately rinse
the contact area thoroughly with mild soap and
water.
– If fluid gets into your eye(s): Do not rub. Rinse water
over the open eye(s) for at least 15 minutes and
seek medical attention.
￭ A battery fire can be dangerous. To reduce the risk of
severe personal injury and property damage in the event
of fire:
– Evacuate the area. Fire can spread rapidly. Stay
clear of any vapors generated and maintain a safe
distance.
– Contact the fire department.
– Although water can be used to put out a battery fire,
use of a multi-purpose dry chemical fire extinguisher
is preferable.
– Consult the fire department regarding proper
disposal of the burned battery.
5.2 Operator
WARNING
￭ Operating a power tool with the backpack battery can be
strenuous. The operator must be in good physical
condition and mental health. To reduce the risk of
personal injury from fatigue and loss of control:
– Check with your doctor before using the backpack
battery if you have any health condition that may be
aggravated by strenuous work.
– Do not use the backpack battery while under the
influence of any substance (drug, alcohol or
medication, etc.) that might impair vision, balance,
dexterity or judgment.
– Be alert. Do not use the backpack battery when you
are tired. Take a break if you become tired.
– Do not permit minors to use the backpack battery.
– The battery is designed to be operated by one
person only. Do not allow other persons in the work
area.
– Keep the battery dry. Protect it from rain,
water and other liquids.
– Never immerse the battery in water or
other liquids.

5.3 Connecting Cord
WARNING
￭ Using a damaged connecting cord may result in fire,
electric shock and other personal injury or property
damage. To reduce these risks:
– Check the battery’s connecting cord regularly for
damage. If it becomes damaged, immediately
disconnect it from the power tool and battery. Never
use a damaged connecting cord.
– Do not abrade, crush, jerk, or otherwise abuse or
misuse the connecting cord. Protect it from heat, oil
and sharp edges.
– If the connecting cord becomes damaged, have it
replaced by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer
before use. A damaged connecting cord must be
replaced with an identical STIHL replacement part.
– Unplug the backpack battery from the power tool
when not in use.
– Never yank or jerk the connecting cord to
disconnect. To unplug the connecting cord from the
backpack battery, grasp the battery-side plug, not
the connecting cord.
– Make sure the connecting cord is positioned and
secured so that it will not be stepped on, tripped
over, come in contact with sharp objects, moving
parts, or otherwise be subjected to damage or
stress.
– Check the AP Adapter, the connecting cord and its
plugs for signs of damage. Never use a damaged AP
Adapter, connecting cord or plug.
– Make sure the insulation of the connecting cord and
plugs are in good condition.
– Straighten a twisted connecting cord before use.
– Position the connecting cord so that it cannot be
reached or damaged by the cutting or working
attachment of the power tool being used.
– Do not use the connecting cord for any purpose
other than providing an electrical connection
between the battery and your authorized STIHL
power tool. For example, do not use it for carrying or
hanging up the battery or power tool.

￭ The two ends of the connecting cord are different shapes
and use different electrical contacts. The battery-side plug
is designed to be inserted into the backpack battery
socket. The plug on the other end is to be inserted into an
AP Adapter or STIHL power tool with an integrated socket.
To reduce the risk of electric shock and damage to the
battery and connecting cord:
– Never attempt to insert the wrong end of the
connecting cord in the battery socket, AP Adapter or
power tool (see illustration).
5.4 Using the Backpack Battery
WARNING
￭ Misuse may result in personal injury and property
damage.
– Use the battery only as described in this instruction
manual.
– Never modify the backpack battery in any way.
– Use only accessories specifically authorized by
STIHL for use with this backpack battery.
– Use the battery only with the harness supplied. It
must not be combined with any other carrying straps.

￭ To help reduce the risk of serious personal injury or death
from unintentional activation of a power tool connected to
the battery:
– Never leave the battery unattended when it is
plugged in to a power tool.
– Disconnect the battery from the power tool and
charger before storing.
￭ To reduce the risk of serious personal injury from loss of
control during operation:
– Read and follow all safety precautions and
instructions related to the power tool connected to
the battery.
– Make sure you have good balance and secure
footing at all times. Take special care in slippery
conditions (wet ground, snow) and in overgrown
terrain.
– Watch for hidden obstacles such as tree stumps,
roots, rocks, holes and ditches to avoid stumbling or
falling.
– Be extremely cautious when working on slopes or
uneven ground, as the backpack battery may alter
your center of balance.
– Never work with the backpack battery in trees, on
roofs or on ladders or any other insecure support.
– Do not overreach.
￭ To reduce the risk of injury from tripping on the connecting
cord or losing control of the power tool:
– Always position and secure the connecting cord so
that it will not interfere with your power tool or proper
working technique. Secure the connecting cord
through the backpack guides and with the hook and
eye fasteners. Keep the connecting cord away from
the cutting attachment of the power tool.
– Remain aware of the location of the connecting cord
while working. Prevent it from contacting the power
tool's cutting attachment or catching on other
objects, which could cause you to lose balance or
control of the power tool, resulting in serious
personal injury and property damage.
￭ Using a backpack battery that is damaged or improperly
adjusted can lead to a malfunction and increase the risk of
serious personal injury and property damage. Before
starting work or charging the battery:
– Always check the battery for proper condition and
operation.
– Check the battery, connecting cord, sockets, plugs
and AP Adapter for corrosion, foreign matter and
damage.
– If four LEDs flash red and a rapid succession of short
beeps sound for several seconds, the battery is not
functioning properly. Disconnect the battery from the
power tool, take it off your back and contact your
authorized STIHL servicing dealer immediately. Do
not attempt to use, charge or store the battery until
the problem has been corrected.
– Never attempt to use, charge or store a
malfunctioning, damaged, cracked, leaking or
deformed battery. Take it to your authorized STIHL
servicing dealer immediately. Do not use, charge or
store the battery until the problem has been
corrected.
– Make sure the shoulder straps and other features of
the backpack are in good condition, properly
adjusted and secure. If they are worn, weakened,
cracked or damaged, contact your authorized STIHL
servicing dealer and have them replaced.
– Unplug the battery from the power tool
before assembling, transporting,
adjusting, inspecting, cleaning,
servicing, maintaining or storing the tool.
Unplug the battery in the event of a
malfunction or emergency and any time
the tool is not in use.

6 Maintenance, Repair and Storage
6.1 Warnings and Instructions
WARNING
￭ There are no user-authorized repairs for the backpack
battery. To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or other
personal injury and property damage:
– Do not attempt to repair, open or disassemble the
battery. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
– Users may carry out only the cleaning and
maintenance operations described in this manual.
Users must not attempt any other cleaning,
maintenance or repair.
– Strictly follow the cleaning and maintenance
instructions in the appropriate sections of this
instruction manual.
– STIHL recommends that all repair work be
performed by authorized STIHL servicing dealers.
￭ Unintentional starting may result in personal injury or
property damage. To reduce the risk of personal injury
and property damage from unintentional starting,
disconnect the battery from the power tool:
– when inspecting, adjusting or cleaning the battery or
power tool
– before handling the power tool's cutting or working
attachment
– before leaving the battery or power tool unattended
– before transporting or storing the battery
– in the event of a malfunction or in an emergency.
– any time the battery is not in use.
￭ Use of parts that are not authorized or approved by STIHL
may cause serious or fatal injury or property damage.
– STIHL recommends that only identical STIHL
replacement parts be used for repair or
maintenance.
￭ To reduce the risk of electric shock when charging:
– Unplug the charger from the electrical outlet before
inspecting or cleaning the charger.
– Regularly check the electrical contacts of the
charger and ensure that the insulation of the power
cord and plug are in good condition and show no
signs of aging (brittleness), wear or damage.
– Have a damaged power supply cord replaced by an
authorized STIHL servicing dealer.
￭ To reduce the risk of short circuit and fire:
– Keep the guides on the AP Adapter free of foreign
matter. Clean as necessary with a dry cloth or soft,
dry brush.
￭ Improper storage can result in unauthorized use, damage
to the backpack battery and an increased risk of fire,
electric shock and other personal injury or property
damage. Before storing:
– Remove the connecting cord from the power tool or
AP Adapter.
– Remove the AP Adapter from the power tool or
charger.
– Store the battery indoors in a dry, secure place that
cannot be accessed by children or other
unauthorized users.
– Never store the battery in damp or corrosive
environments or in conditions that could lead to the
corrosion of its metal components.
– Never store the battery plugged into the AP Adapter
or power tool.
– Never store the battery in a metal container or in a
container with metal objects (e.g., paper clips, nails,
coins, keys).

7.1 Preparing the Backpack Battery for Operation
Before starting work:
► Check the battery status, @ 9.1.
► Fully charge the battery, @ 8.2.
► Clean the battery, @ 17.1.
► Clean the contact surfaces on the connecting cord,
@ 17.2.
► Position the connecting cord, @ 11.1.
8.1 Setting up the Charger
WARNING
Read and follow the safety precautions on the battery and
charger and the warnings and instructions in this manual,
@ 5.1, and in the charger's manual. To reduce the risk of
short circuit, which could lead to electric shock, fire and
explosion, make sure the charger and its components are
dry and not damaged; operate the charger indoors at an
appropriate ambient temperature.
WARNING
A typical household electric circuit is between 15 and 20
amps. A single STIHL AL 500 charger draws approximately
4.8 amps. A single AL 300 charger draws approximately
4.4 amps. To reduce the risk of fire from overloading an
electrical circuit:
► Ensure the electrical system is rated to withstand the
expected electrical draw before charging your battery.
► Charge multiple batteries one at a time or on separate
circuits, unless you know your circuit can handle the total
expected draw from multiple chargers.
WARNING
Since the charger heats up during the charging process, do
not operate the charger on a combustible surface or in a
location where combustible gases, liquids, vapors, dusts or
other materials and substances are present.
To set up the charger:
► Insert the plug (3) into a properly installed wall outlet (4)
matching the voltage and electrical frequency stated on
the rating plate on the charger.
The charger runs a self-test immediately after it is plugged
in. The charger LED (1) will glow green for about 1 second,
then it will glow red briefly before going out. Once the LED
goes out, the self-test is complete and the charger is ready
to charge the battery.
► Position the power supply cord (2) so that it will not be
stepped on, tripped over, come in contact with sharp
objects or moving parts or otherwise present a tripping
hazard or be subjected to damage or stress.
8.2 Charging
WARNING
STIHL batteries contain safety features and devices which,
if damaged, may allow the battery to generate heat, rupture,
leak, ignite or explode. Never charge a malfunctioning,
damaged, cracked, leaking or deformed battery or use a
charger that has been damaged, @ 5.1. Never insert a wet

AP Adapter. Never use a wet charger, @ 5.1. Follow all
product-specific warnings and instructions accompanying
your charger.
To charge the battery:
► Push the plug of the connecting cord (1) into the
socket (2) of the AP Adapter (3) until it stops.
► Push the AP Adapter into the charger (5) until it stops.
The LED on the charger (4) glows green when the battery
is charging.
The LEDs on the AR battery glow green and show the
state of charge.
When the LEDs on the battery turn off, the charging
process is complete and the charger will shut itself off.
► Remove the AP Adapter from the charger and disconnect
the charger's power supply cord from the electrical outlet
when charging is complete.
A battery is not fully charged when it ships from the factory.
STIHL recommends that you fully charge the backpack
battery before using it the first time.
Operate the charger only indoors, in dry rooms and within an
ambient temperature range of 41 °F to 104 °F (5 °C to
40 °C).
The battery heats up during operation of the power tool. If a
hot battery is connected to the charger, it may be necessary
for it to cool down before charging starts. The charging
process begins only after the battery has cooled down
sufficiently.
Charging time depends on a number of factors, including
battery condition and the ambient temperature. For a
complete list of approximate charging times, see
www.stihl.com/charging-times.
9.1 Battery Status
Six LEDs and an acoustic signal indicate the status of the
battery.
1 A short beep
The acoustic signal works as it should.
2 Four long beeps
The battery's charge is low. Recharge the battery.
3 Rapid succession of short beeps
There is a malfunction in the battery. The signal stops
automatically after a few seconds. Do not attempt to
charge, use or store the battery. Replace the battery.
These LEDs can glow or flash green or red.

► Be aware that your ability to hear the acoustic signal may
be reduced when wearing hearing protection.
9.2 Power Tool Status
When the battery is connected to the power tool, the same
LEDs on the battery will indicate the status of the power tool.
If three LEDs glow red continuously: the power tool motor is
too hot. Allow the motor to cool down.
If three LEDs flash red when you activate the trigger switch:
the power tool has an electrical malfunction. Do not operate
the power tool. Have it checked by an authorized STIHL
servicing dealer before use or storage.

information about transporting a malfunctioning battery, see
@ 15.
9.3 Charge Status
The LEDs and acoustic signals on the battery also indicate
the battery's state of charge.
To determine the battery's state of charge:
► Press the button (1) on the backpack battery.
A single short beep will be emitted. The LEDs on the battery
will glow or flash green for about 5 seconds and indicate the
state of charge (see illustration).
For example:
If six green LEDs glow continuously: full charge.
If one green LED is flashing and four long beeps are emitted:
less than 20 % charge.
10.1 Attaching the Connecting Cord
To attach the connecting cord:
► Unplug the battery from the power tool.
► Remove the cover (1).
► Pass the plug (3) through the opening in the back plate.
► Insert the plug in the battery's socket (2) and turn it
clockwise until it engages with an audible click.
► Replace the cover.
If the four right side LEDs flash red and a rapid
succession of several short beeps is emitted: the
battery has a malfunction and must be replaced.
Do not attempt to charge, use or store the
battery.

10.2 Attaching and Removing the Rain Cover
WARNING
To reduce the risk of a short circuit, which could lead to
electric shock, fire and explosion, keep the battery dry.
Protect it from rain, water and other liquids.
The rain cover is designed to protect the battery from rain
during operation.
To attach the rain cover:
► Unplug the battery from the power tool.
► Make sure the rain cover is dry and in good condition,
without any tears, holes or other damage. Never use a wet
or damaged rain cover.
► Before starting work in rain or in very damp conditions,
make sure that the power tool to be connected to the
battery is approved for use in the rain or damp conditions.
► Put the rain cover over the battery and attach it to the
frame of the backpack with the zipper.
► Unzip to remove the rain cover after finishing work.
Always confirm that the battery and AP Adapter are dry
before charging or storing the battery.
► Allow the rain cover to dry before storing. Store the rain
cover in a dry location.
10.3 Attaching the Pouch
WARNING
Never transport metallic, pointed or sharp objects in the
pouch. They may bridge the contacts in the adapter and
cause a short circuit.
To attach the pouch:
► Unplug the battery from the power tool.
► Attach the bag at one of the specified locations on the
waist belt.
► Place the AP Adapter (1) in the bag and close the hook
and eye fastener (2) to secure it.
11.1 Positioning and Adjusting the Connecting Cord
WARNING
To reduce the risk of injury from tripping on the connecting
cord or losing control of the power tool, always secure the
connecting cord through the backpack guides and with the
hook and eye fasteners as described below. Always position
and secure the connecting cord so that it will not interfere
with the proper working technique as described in the
instruction manual for the power tool you are using or your
ability to maintain control of the power tool. Always manage
the cord appropriately to prevent it from coming into contact

with the cutting attachment or catching on objects, which
could cause you to lose balance or control of the power tool,
resulting in serious personal injury and property damage.
The connecting cord can be secured in different positions
and adjusted to suit the height and reach of the operator.
The connecting cord can run through the guide on the
shoulder strap (Ill. A), or along the back plate (Ill. B). Secure
the connecting cord to the backpack frame with the hook and
eye fasteners (1). Always secure the connecting cord using
the guide or hook and eye fasteners on the side of the body
on which the power tool is held and controlled. Do not allow
the connecting cord to swing across your body or hang at
your side.
The length of the connecting cord can be adjusted by
making a loop around the top (Ill. C) or on the side (Ill. D) of
the backpack battery with the hook and eye fasteners.
► Always position and secure the connecting cord so that it
will not interfere with proper working technique or your
ability to maintain control of the power tool.
11.2 Putting on the Harness
WARNING
The operator must be able to remove the backpack battery
quickly in the event of an emergency. In an emergency,
open and remove the waist belt and chest strap quickly
before dropping the battery to the ground.
To ensure a proper fit:
► Put the backpack battery on your back.
► Fasten and adjust the waist belt (2) so that it rests
comfortably but securely on your hips.
► Fasten the chest strap (1) and adjust it so that it fits
comfortably but securely across your chest.

► Adjust the harness straps so that the back padding fits
firmly and securely against your back.
► Thread the end of the waist belt through the loop (3).
► To remove the harness, open the quick-release fasteners
on the waist belt and chest strap and loosen the harness
straps by lifting the sliding adjusters.
To help reduce the risk of injury in the event of an
emergency, practice quickly opening the fastener on the
waist belt, loosening the shoulder straps and removing the
battery. To avoid damage, ease the battery to the ground
when practicing. Do not allow the battery to drop to the
ground and do not throw it.
12.1 Connecting the Backpack Battery to a Power
Tool with an Integrated Socket
WARNING
Never use a malfunctioning, damaged, cracked, leaking or
deformed battery, @ 5.1. Use and store the battery only
within an ambient temperature range of 14 °F to 122 °F (- 10
°C to 50 °C), @ 5.1.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of unintended activation, never store the
power tool with the connecting cord inserted into the power
tool socket, @ 16. Always remove the connecting cord
before storing the power tool.
To connect the battery to a power tool with an integrated
socket:
► Line up the arrow on the connecting cord plug (1) with the
arrow on the power tool socket (2).
► Push the plug into the socket with steady, even pressure
until it is fully inserted. The battery and power tool are now
connected.
For further information on activating and operating the
power tool, see the instruction manual of the power tool
being operated with this battery.
Since a new battery is not fully charged, STIHL recommends
that you fully charge the battery before using it the first time,
@ 8.2.
12.2 Connecting the Backpack Battery to a Power
Tool with a Battery Compartment

To reduce the risk of severe personal injury and property
damage from unintended activation, always unplug the
battery before assembling, transporting, adjusting, cleaning,
servicing, maintaining or storing the power tool and any
other time it is not in use, @ 5.4.
► Switch off the power tool as described in its instruction
manual.
► If a power tool with an integrated socket is used, pull the
plug out of the power tool socket with steady, even
pressure.
► If a power tool with battery compartment is used, remove
AP adapter from power tool's battery compartment and
then pull the plug out of the AP adapter socket with
steady, even pressure.
NOTICE
Avoid exposing the battery to excessive heat or cold or
prolonged periods of direct sunlight. Use or storage outside
the recommended ambient temperature range can reduce
the performance and/or service life of the backpack battery.

13.1 Preparing for Transportation or Storage
To prepare the battery for transportation or storage:
► Switch off the power tool as described in its instruction
manual.
► Disconnect the backpack battery, @ 12.3.
► If the battery became wet during operation, allow it to dry
separately and completely before charging or storing.

14.1 Charging a USB Device
WARNING
High voltage and excessive charging current at the USB port
may damage the connected USB device. Only charge USB
devices with an input voltage of 5 V and a maximum
charging current of 1.5 A.
To charge a USB device with the battery:
► Unplug the battery from the power tool or charger.
► Remove the cover (1).
► Pass the plug (2) of the USB device to be charged through
the opening in the back plate.
► Insert the USB plug in the backpack battery's USB
port (3).
► Replace the cover.
► Press the button on the battery.
► Before charging the backpack battery or starting work with
a power tool, first remove any USB device connected to
the USB charging port.
15.1 Transporting the Backpack Battery
WARNING
To reduce the risk of a short circuit, which could lead to
electric shock, fire and explosion, never transport the battery
in a metal container or near metal objects (e.g., paper clips,
nails, coins, keys), @ 5.1.
When transporting an undamaged and properly functioning
backpack battery:
► Disconnect the battery from the power tool and insert the
AP Adapter in the pouch.
► Carry the battery on your back or by the handle.
► Never transport the backpack battery in a metal or other
container that is capable of conducting electricity, or near
metal objects (e.g., paper clips, nails, coins, keys).
► If you are placing the battery in a container or transporting
it in a vehicle, secure it and its container against turnover,
impact and damage.
► Never sit on or stand on the battery. Never place objects
on the battery or stack batteries on top of one another.

WARNING
Special precautions must be taken when transporting a
damaged or malfunctioning battery. To reduce the risk of
accidents, always contact your STIHL servicing dealer
before transporting such a battery.
STIHL backpack batteries comply with the requirements set
forth in UN-Manual ST/SG/AC.10/11/Rev.5/Part III,
Subsection 38.3.
Commercial air, vessel and ground transportation of lithium
ion cells and batteries is regulated. The backpack battery is
classified as a UN 3480, Class 9, packaging group II
product. Shipping it, either as a complete tool or the battery,
requires compliance with all applicable shipping regulations.
Check with the ground, vessel, air cargo or passenger airline
to determine if transport is prohibited or subject to
restrictions or exemptions prior to shipping or travel.
Normally, no further conditions have to be met by the user in
order to transport STIHL backpack batteries by road to the
power tool's operating site. Check and comply with any
special regulations that may apply to your situation.

16.1 Storing the Backpack Battery
WARNING
To reduce the risk of a short circuit, which could lead to
electric shock, fire and explosion, never store the battery in
a metal container or near metal objects or in wet or damp
conditions, @ 5.1. If the battery is damp or wet, allow it to
dry thoroughly before storing, @ 5.1.
WARNING
High temperatures can damage the battery and result in loss
of performance and a shortened battery life. It may also
cause the battery to generate heat, rupture, leak, ignite or
explode, resulting in severe or fatal personal injury or
property damage, @ 5.1. Use and store the battery only
within an ambient temperature range of 14 °F to 122 °F (-
10 °C to 50 °C), @ 5.1. Never store the battery in direct
sunlight or inside a vehicle in hot weather, @ 5.1.
To properly store the battery:
► Disconnect the battery from the power tool or the charger.
► Make sure the battery is dry and store it indoors in a dry
and secure location.
► Keep it out of the reach of children and other unauthorized
persons.
► Protect the battery against dampness and corrosive
agents such as garden chemicals and de-icing salts.
► Protect the battery from exposure to conductive liquids
such as salt water.
► For maximum battery life, store the battery at an ambient
temperature between 50 °F and 68 °F (10 °C and 20 °C)
with a charge between 40 % and 60 % (2 green LEDs).
► Do not leave spare batteries unused. Use them in rotation.
17.1 Cleaning the Backpack Battery
WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal injury from unintended
activation, unplug the battery before carrying out any
cleaning work, @ 6. Users of this battery should carry out
only the cleaning described in this manual.
To clean the battery:
► Clean dust and dirt off the battery with a dry cloth or soft,
dry brush.
► Do not use solvents or aggressive detergents to clean the
battery. They may damage the polymer housing and other
components.
► Do not spray the battery with water.

4.1 Batería tipo mochila

Lea y respete todas las precauciones de
seguridad dadas en este manual de
instrucciones y en el manual de la herramienta
STIHL que utiliza esta batería. El uso
inadecuado puede provocar lesiones personales
graves o mortales o daños a la propiedad.
Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales o
daños a la propiedad debido a incendios,
explosiones o quemaduras, incluidas las
quemaduras químicas, no desarme, aplaste,
deje caer, dañe o caliente la batería a más de
100 °C (212 °F). Nunca la exponga al fuego ni la
incinere. @ 5.1.
Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales o
daños a la propiedad causados por un
cortocircuito, un incendio o una explosión,
mantenga la batería seca. Protéjalo de la lluvia,
el agua, los líquidos y las condiciones de
humedad. Nunca sumerja la batería en agua u
otros líquidos, @ 5.1.
Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales o
daños a la propiedad debido a un incendio, use
y almacene la batería solo dentro de un rango
de temperatura ambiente de -10 °C a 50 °C

5.1 Advertencias e instrucciones de la batería
ADVERTENCIA
￭ Si las baterías AR de STIHL se usan para cualquier
propósito diferente de suministrar alimentación a las
herramientas STIHL indicadas a continuación, esto podría
causar lesiones personales y daños a la propiedad.
Utilícese únicamente con las herramientas motorizadas
STIHL dadas a continuación:
– Motosierras MSA de STIHL (vea las excepciones más
adelante)
– Podadores de varilla HTA de STIHL
– Motoguadañas y cortadores de arbustos FSA de STIHL
– Cortasetos HSA de STIHL
– Cortasetos de alcance adicional HLA de STIHL
– Sopladores BGA de STIHL
￭ No utilice las baterías AR de STIHL con las tronzadoras
TSA ni los cortacéspedes RMA de STIHL. El uso con
estos productos puede causar lesiones personales
graves y daños a la propiedad como resultado de que el
cordón de conexión quede atrapado, la pérdida del control
o la pérdida del equilibrio.
￭ No use baterías STIHL AR con motosierras de mango
superior STIHL MSA si se va a trepar en el árbol para
poda y mantenimiento. El uso puede causar lesiones
personales graves y daños a la propiedad como resultado
de que el cordón de conexión quede atrapado, la pérdida
del control o la pérdida del equilibrio. Siempre utilice un
elevador con canasto para efectuar la poda y
mantenimiento de árboles si usa una batería AR con una
motosierra de mango superior MSA. No trepe en el árbol
con una batería AR.
￭ El uso de cargadores no autorizados puede dañar la
batería y causar incendios, explosiones, lesiones
personales y daños a la propiedad.
– Cargue las baterías AR de STIHL únicamente con
los cargadores genuinos AL 300 y AL 500 de STIHL.
￭ La batería posee características y dispositivos de
seguridad que, de dañarse, pueden provocar que esta
genere calor, se rompa, pierda líquido, se incendie o
explote.
– Nunca utilice ni cargue una batería defectuosa,
dañada, agrietada, deformada o que pierda líquido.
– Nunca abra, desarme, aplaste, deje caer o dañe la
batería ni la exponga a impactos.
– Nunca la exponga a microondas o altas presiones.
– Nunca coloque objetos en las ranuras de
refrigeración de la batería.
– No se siente ni se pare sobre la batería. Nunca
coloque objetos sobre la batería ni apile varias
baterías una sobre la otra.
￭ Las altas temperaturas pueden hacer que la batería
genere calor, se rompa, pierda líquido, se incendie o
explote, lo que podría causar lesiones personales graves
o fatales y daños a la propiedad. La exposición a
temperaturas fuera del rango recomendado también
puede reducir la vida útil y el rendimiento de la batería.

DE SEGURIDAD
– Nunca caliente la batería por encima de
los 100°C (212°F).
– Nunca la incinere ni la coloque sobre el
fuego o cerca de este, de estufas o de
otros sitios con altas temperaturas.
– Utilice y guarde la batería únicamente a
una temperatura ambiente de –10 °C a
50 °C (14 °F a 122 °F).
– No guarde la batería en un lugar con luz
solar directa ni dentro de un vehículo en
climas calurosos.

￭ Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales o daños a la
propiedad en caso de que la batería emane humo o un
olor inusual, o esté más caliente de lo habitual durante el
uso, la carga o el almacenamiento:
– Inmediatamente deje de usar o cargar la batería. Si
la está usando, quítesela de la espalda. Manténgase
a una distancia prudente y prepárese para ponerse
en contacto con las autoridades en caso de incendio
o explosión.
￭ Para reducir el riesgo de cortocircuito, que podría causar
una descarga eléctrica, un incendio o una explosión:
– Mantenga las baterías en desuso alejadas de
objetos metálicos (por ejemplo, presillas de papel,
clavos, monedas, llaves).
– Nunca transporte o guarde la batería en un
recipiente metálico.
– Guarde la batería bajo techo, en un lugar seco.
– Nunca guarde la batería en entornos húmedos o
corrosivos, o en condiciones que podrían generar la
corrosión de sus componentes metálicos.
– Nunca guarde la batería en la herramienta eléctrica
o el cargador.
– Proteja la batería de la exposición a agentes
corrosivos, como productos químicos de jardinería y
sales de deshielo.
– Proteja la batería contra la exposición a líquidos
conductores de electricidad tales como el agua
salada.
– No intente reparar, abrir o desarmar la batería. No
contiene en su interior piezas que el usuario pueda
reparar.
￭ El fluido de baterías que se escape es dañino y puede
causar irritaciones en la piel o los ojos, quemaduras
químicas y otras lesiones personales graves.
– Evite el contacto con la piel y los ojos.
– Use un absorbente inerte, como la arena, sobre el
fluido de batería derramado.
– En caso de contacto accidental, lave el área de
contacto inmediatamente con agua y un jabón
suave.
– Si entra líquido en los ojos: No se frote. Enjuague el
ojo abierto con agua por al menos 15 minutos y
busque atención médica.
￭ Un incendio causado por baterías puede ser peligroso.
Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales graves y
daños a la propiedad en caso de incendio:
– Evacúe el área. El fuego se puede propagar
rápidamente. Manténgase alejado de los vapores
generados y mantenga una distancia segura.
– Póngase en contacto con el departamento de
bomberos.
– Aunque se puede emplear agua para apagar un
incendio de la batería, es preferible usar un extintor
de incendios de polvo químico multiuso.
– Consulte al departamento de bomberos acerca de
cómo desechar correctamente la batería quemada.
– No moje la batería. Protéjala de la lluvia,
el agua y otros líquidos.
– Nunca sumerja la batería en agua u
otros líquidos.

5.2 Operador
ADVERTENCIA
￭ El uso de una herramienta motorizada con la batería tipo
mochila puede ser extenuante. El operador debe hallarse
en buenas condiciones tanto físicas como mentales. Para
reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales causadas por
fatiga o pérdida del control:
– Consulte a su médico antes de usar la batería tipo
mochila si tiene una afección de salud que pueda
agravarse por el trabajo extenuante.
– No utilice la batería tipo mochila si se encuentra bajo
la influencia de cualquier sustancia (drogas, alcohol,
medicamentos, etc.) que puedan afectar la visión, el
equilibrio, la destreza o el juicio.
– Esté alerta. No use la batería tipo mochila cuando
está fatigado. Tómese un descanso si se siente
cansado.
– No permita que los menores de edad usen la batería
tipo mochila.
– La batería se diseñó para ser usada por una sola
persona. No deje que otras personas estén en el
lugar de trabajo.
5.3 Cordón de conexión
ADVERTENCIA
￭ Usar un cordón de conexión dañado puede provocar
incendios, descargas eléctricas y otras lesiones
personales o daños a la propiedad. Para reducir estos
riesgos:
– Revise regularmente el cordón de conexión de la
batería en busca de daños. Si llegara a dañarse,
desconéctelo de inmediato de la herramienta
motorizada y de la batería. Nunca use un cordón de
conexión dañado.
– No desgaste, aplaste, le dé tirones ni de otro modo
maltrate o utilice mal el cordón de conexión.
Protéjalo del calor, el aceite y los bordes afilados.
– Si el cordón de conexión se daña, solicite a un
concesionario de servicio STIHL autorizado que lo
sustituya antes de usarlo. Un cordón de conexión
dañado debe ser reemplazado por un repuesto
STIHL de tipo idéntico.
– Desenchufe la batería tipo mochila de la
herramienta motorizada cuando no lo utilice.
– Nunca le dé tirones ni hale el cordón de conexión
para desconectarlo. Para desconectar el cordón de
conexión de la batería tipo mochila, sujete el
enchufe de la batería y no el cordón.
– Asegúrese de que el cordón de conexión esté
ubicado o marcado como para que no se lo pise,
cause tropiezos, esté en contacto con objetos
cortantes o partes móviles, o de otro modo sujeto a
daño o esfuerzo.
– Inspeccione el adaptador AP, su cordón de conexión
y sus enchufes para verificar que no presenten
indicios de daño. Nunca use un adaptador AP,
cordón de conexión o enchufe dañado.
– Asegúrese de que el aislamiento del cordón
eléctrico y del enchufe esté en buenas condiciones.
– Antes de usarlo, estire el cordón de conexión si está
retorcido.
– El cordón debe ubicarse de modo que el accesorio
de trabajo de la herramienta motorizada que está
usando no entre en contacto con éste ni le cause
daños.
– No use el cordón de conexión para ningún otro fin
que no sea proporcionar una conexión eléctrica
entre la batería y la herramienta motorizada STIHL
autorizada. Por ejemplo: No lo use para trasladar o
colgar la batería o la herramienta motorizada.

￭ Los dos extremos del cordón de conexión tienen enchufes
con formas diferentes y emplean contactos eléctricos
diferentes. El enchufe de la batería está diseñado para
insertarse en el tomacorriente de la batería tipo mochila.
El enchufe del otro extremo se inserta en el adaptador AP
o la herramienta motorizada STIHL con tomacorriente
incorporado. Para reducir el riesgo de descarga eléctrica
y daños a la batería y al cordón de conexión:
– Nunca intente insertar el extremo incorrecto del
cordón de conexión en el tomacorriente de la
batería, del adaptador AP o de la herramienta

5.4 Uso de la batería tipo mochila

6 Mantenimiento, reparación y almacenamiento
Asegure el cordón de conexión en las guías
presentes en la mochila y con los sujetadores de
gancho y lazo. Mantenga el cordón de conexión
alejado del accesorio de corte de la herramienta.
– Esté siempre atento a la ubicación del cordón de
conexión mientras trabaje. Evite que entre en
contacto con el accesorio de corte de la herramienta
o que se enganche en otros objetos, lo cual podría
hacerle perder el equilibrio o el control de la
herramienta y dar por resultado lesiones personales
graves y daños a la propiedad.
￭ El uso de una batería tipo mochila que está dañada o
incorrectamente ajustada puede generar un defecto y
aumentar el riesgo de lesiones personales graves y daños
a la propiedad. Antes de comenzar el trabajo o de cargar
la batería:
– Siempre revise que la batería esté en buenas
condiciones y funcione correctamente.
– Revise la batería, el cordón de conexión, los
receptáculos, enchufes y el adaptador AP en busca
de corrosión, materias extrañas y daños.
– Si los cuatro LED destellan y se escucha una
sucesión rápida de pitidos breves por varios
segundos, la batería no está funcionando
debidamente. Desconecte la batería de la
herramienta motorizada, quítesela de la espalda y
comuníquese inmediatamente con su concesionario
de servicio STIHL. No intente usar, cargar ni guardar
la batería hasta que el problema se haya corregido.
– Nunca utilice, cargue ni guarde una batería
defectuosa, dañada, agrietada, deformada o que
pierda líquido. Llévela de inmediato al concesionario
autorizado de STIHL. No use, cargue ni guarde la
batería hasta que el problema se haya corregido.
– Compruebe que las tiras para la espalda y demás
características de la mochila se encuentren en
buenas condiciones, debidamente ajustadas y
seguras. Si presentan desgaste, debilitamiento,
roturas o daños, comuníquese con el concesionario
autorizado de STIHL para reemplazarlas.
6.1 Advertencias e instrucciones
ADVERTENCIA
￭ La batería tipo mochila no contiene piezas que el usuario
esté autorizado a reparar. Para reducir el riesgo de

7 Antes de empezar a trabajar

mantenimiento.
￭ Para reducir el riesgo de descarga eléctrica durante la
carga:
– Desenchufe el cargador del tomacorriente de pared
antes de inspeccionar o limpiar el cargador.
– Revise regularmente los contactos eléctricos del

la corrosión de sus componentes metálicos.
– Nunca guarde la batería enchufada en el adaptador
AP o la herramienta motorizada.
– Nunca guarde la batería en un envase metálico, ni
en un envase junto con objetos metálicos (por
ejemplo, presillas para papel, clavos, monedas,
llaves).
7.1 Preparación de la batería tipo mochila para el
funcionamiento
Antes de empezar a trabajar:
► Revise el estado de la batería, @ 9.1.
► Cargue la batería completamente, @ 8.2.
► Limpie la batería, @ 17.1.
► Limpie las superficies de contacto del cordón de
conexión, @ 17.2.
► Coloque el cordón de conexión en posición, @ 11.1.
8.1 Preparación del cargador para el
funcionamiento
ADVERTENCIA
Lea y siga las precauciones e instrucciones de seguridad de
la batería y del cargador dadas en este manual, @ 5.1, y en
el manual del cargador. Para reducir el riesgo de
cortocircuito, que podría provocar una descarga eléctrica,

y sus componentes estén secos y no estén dañados; opere

ADVERTENCIA
Un circuito eléctrico doméstico típico suministra entre 15 y
20 amperios. Un cargador STIHL AL 500 consume
aproximadamente 4,8 A. Un cargador AL 300 consume
aproximadamente 4,4 A. Para reducir el riesgo de incendios
causados por la sobrecarga de un circuito eléctrico:
► Compruebe que el circuito eléctrico tenga capacidad
suficiente para suministrar el consumo eléctrico
anticipado antes de cargar la batería.
► Cargue varias baterías una por una, o en circuitos
separados, a menos que se sepa que el circuito es capaz
de soportar el consumo total anticipado de varios
cargadores.
ADVERTENCIA
Dado que el cargador se calienta durante el proceso de
carga, no haga funcionar el cargador sobre superficies que
puedan incendiarse o en un lugar donde haya gases,
líquidos, vapores, polvo u otros materiales y sustancias
combustibles.
Para preparar el cargador para el funcionamiento:
► Conecte el enchufe (3) a un tomacorriente de pared (4)
debidamente instalado que suministre el voltaje y
frecuencia indicados en la chapa de información ubicada
en el dorso del cargador.
El cargador ejecutará una autoprueba inmediatamente
después de enchufarlo. El LED del cargador (1) se iluminará
en verde durante 1 segundo aproximadamente, y luego en
rojo por un lapso breve hasta apagarse. Una vez que el LED
se apaga, la autoprueba ha finalizado y el cargador está
listo para cargar la batería.
► Ubique el cordón eléctrico (2) como para que no se lo
pise, cause tropiezos, esté en contacto con objetos
cortantes o partes móviles o, de otro modo sujeto, a daño
o esfuerzo.
8.2 Carga
ADVERTENCIA
Las baterías STIHL poseen características y dispositivos de
seguridad que, de dañarse, pueden provocar que esta
genere calor, se rompa, pierda líquido, se incendie o
explote. Nunca cargue una batería que exhiba mal
funcionamiento o esté dañada, con fugas o deformada, ni
utilice un cargador averiado, @ 5.1. Nunca inserte un
adaptador AP que esté mojado. Nunca use el cargador si
está mojado, @ 5.1. Respete todas las advertencias e
instrucciones que acompañan al cargador.
Para cargar la batería:
► Inserte el enchufe en el cable de conexión (1) en el

El LED del cargador (4) se ilumina en verde cuando la
batería se está cargando.
Los LED de la batería AR se iluminan en verde e indican
el estado de la carga.
Cuando se apagan los LED de la batería, el proceso de
carga está finalizado y el cargador se apagará a sí mismo.
► Retire el adaptador AP del cargador y desconecte el cable
de suministro eléctrico del cargador del tomacorriente de
pared cuando se haya finalizado la carga.
La batería no se despacha de la fábrica cargada
completamente. STIHL recomienda cargar completamente
la batería tipo mochila antes de usarla por primera vez.
Utilice el cargador bajo techo, únicamente en recintos
secos, y a una temperatura ambiente de 5 °C a 40 °C (41 °F
a 104 °F).
La batería se calienta al usarla en la herramienta
motorizada. Si se conecta una batería caliente al cargador,
posiblemente habrá que dejarla enfriar antes de cargarla. El
proceso de carga comienza únicamente cuando la batería
está lo suficientemente fría.
El tiempo de carga depende de varios factores, tales como
el estado de la batería y la temperatura ambiente. Para

9.1 Estado de la batería
Seis LED y una señal acústica denotan el estado de la
batería.
1 Un pitido breve
La señal acústica funciona como debe hacerlo.
2 Cuatro pitidos largos
La batería tiene poca carga. Recargue la batería.
3 Sucesión rápida de pitidos breves
Hay una falla en la batería. La señal se detiene
automáticamente al cabo de unos segundos. No intente
cargar, usar ni guardar la batería. Sustituya la batería.
Estos LED pueden encenderse o destellar en verde o rojo.
► Sea consciente de que su capacidad para oír la señal
acústica puede verse disminuida si usa protectores para
oídos.
9 Diagnóstico por LED y señales
acústicas
Si un LED se enciende en rojo continuamente, la
batería está demasiado caliente o demasiado
fría. Deje que la batería se caliente o se enfríe
gradualmente a una temperatura ambiente de
aproximadamente 10 °C a 20 °C (50 °F a 68 °F).
Si los cuatro LED derechos destellan en rojo y
se escucha una sucesión rápida de pitidos
breves: la batería está averiada y es necesario
reemplazarla. No intente cargar, usar ni guardar
la batería.

9.2 Estado de la herramienta motorizada
Cuando la batería está conectada con la herramienta
motorizada, los mismos LED en la batería indicarán el
estado de la herramienta motorizada.
Si tres LED se encienden en rojo continuamente, el motor
de la herramienta motorizada está demasiado caliente. Deje
que el motor se enfríe.
Si tres LED destellan en rojo cuando activa el gatillo, la
herramienta motorizada tiene un defecto eléctrico. No utilice
la herramienta motorizada. Solicite a un concesionario de
servicio STIHL autorizado que la revise antes de usarlo.

9.3 Estado de carga
Los LED y señales acústicas en la batería también muestran
el estado de carga de la batería.
Para determinar el estado de carga de la batería:
► Pulse el botón (1) en la batería tipo mochila.
Se escucha un pitido breve. Los LED de la batería se
encenderán o destellarán en verde por unos 5 segundos e
indicarán el estado de carga (vea la ilustración).
Por ejemplo:
Si seis LED se encienden en verde continuamente, la carga
está completa.
Si un LED verde destella y se escuchan cuatro pitidos
largos: resta menos de un 20 % de carga.
10.1 FijaciónFijación del cordón de conexión
Para fijar el cordón de conexión:
► Desenchufe la batería de la herramienta motorizada.
► Quite la cubierta (1).
► Pase el enchufe (3) por la abertura de la placa trasera.
► Inserte el enchufe en el receptáculo (2) de la batería y
gírelo en sentido horario hasta que se enganche con un
chasquido audible.
► Vuelva a colocar la cubierta.
10.2 Montaje y retiro de la cubierta contra lluvia
ADVERTENCIA

Para montar la cubierta contra lluvia:
► Desenchufe la batería de la herramienta motorizada.
► Compruebe que la cubierta contra lluvia esté seca y en
buenas condiciones, sin roturas, perforaciones ni otros
daños. No use nunca una cubierta contra lluvia que esté
mojada o dañada.
► Antes de trabajar bajo la lluvia o en condiciones muy
húmedas, compruebe que la herramienta motorizada que
se conectará con la batería está aprobada para usarse
bajo la lluvia o en condiciones húmedas.
► Coloque la cubierta contra lluvia sobre la batería y fíjela al
bastidor de la mochila con la cremallera.
► Abra la cremallera para quitar la cubierta contra lluvia
después de haber finalizado el trabajo. Siempre confirme
que la batería y el adaptador AP estén secos antes de
cargar la batería o de guardarla.
► Permita que la cubierta contra lluvia se seque antes de
guardarla. Guarde la cubierta contra lluvia en un lugar
seco.
10.3 FiMMontaje de la bolsa
ADVERTENCIA
Nunca transporte objetos metálicos, puntiagudos o filosos
en la bolsa. Estos pueden generar un puente entre los
contactos del adaptador y causar un cortocircuito.
Para montar la bolsa:
► Desenchufe la batería de la herramienta motorizada.
► Fije la bolsa en una de las posiciones especificadas en la
correa para cintura.
► Coloque el adaptador AP (1) en la bolsa y cierre el
sujetador de gancho y lazo (2) para asegurarlo.
11.1 Colocación y ajuste del cordón de conexión

El cordón de conexión puede asegurarse en posiciones
diferentes y ajustarse según la estatura y el alcance del
operador.
El cordón de conexión puede pasarse por las guías en la
correa para el hombro (ilustración A) o a lo largo de la placa
trasera (ilustración B). Asegure el cordón de conexión al
bastidor de la mochila y con los cierres de velcro (1).
Siempre asegure el cordón de conexión utilizando la guía o
cierres de velcro hacia el mismo lado del cuerpo en el cual
se sujeta y se controla la herramienta motorizada. No
permita que el cordón de conexión penda delante de su
cuerpo ni a su costado.
La longitud del cordón de conexión puede ajustarse por
medio de formar un lazo por la parte superior (Ilust. C) o por
el costado (Ilust. D) de la batería tipo mochila, fijándolo con
cierres de velcro.
► Siempre coloque y asegure el cordón de conexión de
modo que no interfiera con las técnicas de trabajo
adecuadas ni con su capacidad de mantener el control de
la herramienta motorizada.
11.2 Colocación del arnés
ADVERTENCIA
El operador deberá poder despojarse de la batería tipo
mochila rápidamente en caso de emergencia. En caso de
emergencia, desabroche y quítese el cinturón y la tira de
pecho rápidamente, antes de dejar caer la batería al suelo.
Para asegurar una colocación adecuada:
► Colóquese la batería tipo mochila sobre la espalda.
► Abroche y ajuste el cinturón (2) de modo que repose de
manera cómoda pero segura sobre sus caderas.
► Abroche la tira para el pecho (1) y ajústela de modo que
quede cómoda pero segura por su pecho.

► Ajuste las tiras del arnés de modo que la almohadilla de
la placa quede firme y segura contra su espalda.
► Pase el extremo del cinturón por dentro del lazo (3).
► Para quitarse el arnés, desabroche las hebillas de soltado
rápido del cinturón y de la tira para el pecho y afloje las
tiras del arnés por medio de levantar los ajustadores
deslizantes.
Para ayudar a reducir el riesgo de lesionarse en caso de una
emergencia, practique la apertura rápida de la hebilla del
cinturón, soltarse las tiras para los hombros y quitarse la
batería. Para evitar daños, coloque la batería suavemente
en el suelo cuando esté practicando. No permita que la
batería caiga al suelo ni la lance.
12.1 Conexión de la batería tipo mochila a una
herramienta motorizada con receptáculo
incorporado
ADVERTENCIA
Nunca use una batería defectuosa, dañada, agrietada,
deformada o que pierda líquido. @ 5.1. Utilice y guarde la
batería únicamente a una temperatura ambiente de -10 °C
a 50 °C (14 °F a 122 °F), @ 5.1.
ADVERTENCIA
Para reducir el riesgo de activación accidental, nunca
guarde la herramienta motorizada con el cable de conexión
en el tomacorriente de la herramienta motorizada. @ 16.
Siempre retire el cable de conexión antes de guardar la
herramienta motorizada.
Para conectar la batería a una herramienta motorizada con
receptáculo incorporado:
► Alinee la flecha que está en el enchufe del cable de
conexión (1) con la flecha del tomacorriente de la
herramienta motorizada (2).
► Empuje el enchufe dentro del tomacorriente con una
presión firme y uniforme hasta insertarlo por completo. La
batería y la herramienta motorizada ahora están
conectadas.

12.3 Desconexión de la batería tipo mochila

► Si está utilizando una herramienta motorizada con
tomacorriente incorporado, extraiga el enchufe del
tomacorriente de la herramienta motorizada con una
presión firme y uniforme.
► Si está utilizando una herramienta motorizada con
compartimiento de batería, saque el adaptador AP del
compartimiento de batería de la herramienta y luego
extraiga el enchufe del adaptador AP con una presión
firme y uniforme.
INDICACIÓN
Evite exponer la batería a calor o frío excesivo, o a períodos
prolongados de luz directa. El uso o el almacenamiento

13 Después de completar el trabajo
13.1 Preparación para el transporte o el
almacenamiento
Para preparar el batería para el transporte o el
almacenamiento:
► Apague la herramienta motorizada de la manera descrita
en su manual de instrucciones.
► Desconecte la batería tipo mochila, @ 12.3.
► Si la batería se mojó durante el funcionamiento, déjela
secar por separado y por completo antes de cargarla o
guardarla.
14.1 CargacCarga de un dispositivo USB
ADVERTENCIA
Un exceso de voltaje o corriente de carga en el puerto USB
puede dañar el dispositivo que esté conectado. Únicamente
se deben cargar dispositivos USB con un voltaje de entrada
de 5 V y una corriente máxima de carga de 1,5 A.
Para cargar un dispositivo USB con la batería:
► Desconecte la batería de la herramienta motorizada o del
cargador.
► Quite la cubierta (1).
► Pase el enchufe (2) del dispositivo USB que se desea
cargar por la abertura de la placa trasera.
► Inserte el enchufe de USB en el puerto USB (3) de la
batería tipo mochila.
► Vuelva a colocar la cubierta.
► Presione el botón en la batería.
► Antes de cargar la batería tipo mochila o de empezar a
trabajar con la herramienta motorizada, primero retire
todo dispositivo USB que esté conectado al puerto USB
de carga.

16 Almacenamiento
Transporte de una batería tipo mochila sin daños y en
buenas condiciones de funcionamiento:
► Desconecte la batería de la herramienta motorizada e
inserte el adaptador AP en la bolsa.
► Transporte la batería en sus espaldas o sujetándola por
su mango.
► Nunca transporte la batería tipo mochila en un envase
metálico, ni en un envase junto con objetos metálicos (por
ejemplo, presillas para papel, clavos, monedas, llaves).
► Si se colocará la batería en un contenedor o se la
transportará en un vehículo, asegúrela junto con su
contenedor para prevenir vuelcos, impactos y daños.
► No se siente ni se pare sobre la batería. Nunca coloque
objetos sobre la batería ni apile varias baterías una sobre
la otra.
ADVERTENCIA
Se deben adoptar precauciones especiales al transportar
una batería dañada o averiada. Para disminuir el riesgo de
accidentes, siempre comuníquese con su concesionario de
servicio STIHL antes de transportar una batería en esas
condiciones.
Las baterías tipo mochila STIHL cumplen con los requisitos
descritos en el Manual UN ST/SG/AC.10/11/Ver.5/Parte III,
Subsección 38.3.
El transporte comercial por aire, agua y tierra de celdas de
ion de litio y baterías está regulado. La batería tipo mochila
está clasificada como un producto UN 3480, Clase 9 y grupo
de envasado II. Para transportarla, ya sea como parte de la
herramienta completa o sola, es necesario cumplir con
todas las normas de transporte correspondientes. Antes del
transporte o traslado, consulte con la empresa de transporte
por tierra o agua, o bien con la aerolínea de carga o
pasajeros, para determinar si el transporte está prohibido o
sujeto a restricciones o exenciones.
Por lo general, el usuario no necesita cumplir con ninguna
condición adicional para poder transportar baterías STIHL
por carretera hasta el sitio donde se encuentra la
herramienta motorizada. Verifique y respete cualquier

17 Limpieza
Para almacenar la batería correctamente:
► Desconecte la batería de la herramienta motorizada o del
cargador.
► Compruebe que la batería esté seca y guárdela bajo
techo, en un lugar seco y bajo llave.
► Manténgalo fuera del alcance de los niños y de otras
personas no autorizadas.
► Proteja la batería contra la humedad y los agentes
corrosivos, como productos químicos de jardinería y sales
de deshielo.
► Proteja la batería contra la exposición a líquidos
conductores de electricidad tales como el agua salada.
► Para obtener la duración máxima de la batería, guarde la
batería en una temperatura ambiente de entre 10 °C y
20 °C (50 °F y 68 °F) con una carga de entre el 40 % y el
60 % (2 LED iluminados en verde).
► No deje sueltas las baterías que no se utilizan. Rótelas.
17.1 Limpieza de la batería tipo mochila
ADVERTENCIA
Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales por la
activación accidental, desenchufe la batería antes de
realizar algún trabajo de limpieza, @ 6. Los usuarios de
este batería deben efectuar únicamente la limpieza descrita
en este manual.
Para limpiar la batería:
► Quite el polvo y la suciedad de la batería con un paño
seco o con un cepillo suave y seco.
► No utilice disolventes ni detergentes agresivos para
limpiar la batería. Podrían dañar la carcasa de polímero y
otros componentes.
► No rocíe agua sobre la batería.
17.2 Limpie las superficies de contacto del cable de
conexión
► Desconecte la batería tipo mochila, @ 12.3.
► Limpie las superficies de contacto (1) con un trapo seco.
► Si se observa decoloración (flecha) en las superficies de
contacto: Quite la decoloración con papel de lija fino
P 600 hasta que la superficie de contacto quede
reluciente nuevamente.

18.1 Inspección y mantenimiento de la batería tipo

ADVERTENCIA

inspección, limpieza o mantenimiento, @ 6. Efectúe
únicamente las operaciones de mantenimiento que se
describen en este manual. No hay reparaciones autorizadas
para los usuarios. STIHL recomienda que los
concesionarios de servicio STIHL autorizados efectúen los
trabajos de reparación.
El mantenimiento adecuado de la batería incluye las
