Do not use any other electrical outlet. IMPORTANT: During the first few minutes of initial use, you may notice a slight odor. This is normal and will quickly disappear. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. Unpack single window fan carefully. 2. This unit is designed for use in double-hung type windows and vertical slider-type windows. 3. This fan is designed to be used (and recommended for use) with a screen in the window. 4. With the sliding portion of the window open fully, take an accurate inside measurement (left to right for double-hung type windows and top to bottom for vertical slider-type windows) of the window opening where the unit is to be placed. FOR DOUBLE-HUNG TYPE WINDOWS: 1. With the window fully open, set the fan in the window with support brackets facing upward and the thermostat control switch facing inside. 2. Hold fan with one hand while attaching/adjusting panels with the other. Attach one of the panel inserts by sliding it down the groove located at the top left of fan. If second panel is required, attach it by sliding it down the groove on the side of first panel. Before closing window, adjust expandable panel, if necessary. 3. Close the window on top of the fan with the bottom edge of the window behind the lip of fan housing. 4. If the fan still does not fit properly in the window, readjust the expandable panel on right side of fan to fill in remaining space between panel and window frame until a secure fit is achieved. FOR VERTICAL SLIDER-TYPE WINDOWS: 1. Position the fan in the window with the thermostat control switch facing inside. 2. To adjust height, remove fan from window. If additional height required is 4" or less, extend the expandable panel until it matches the height of the window. (For example, if window height is 28", adjust panel so that the height of the fan is also 28".) If fan height required is more than 28", attach one or both of the insert panels, as described in #2 of FOR DOUBLE-HUNG TYPE WINDOWS section above. 3. With the window fully open, position the fan in the window with the expandable panel at the top and with the thermostat control switch facing inside. 4. Fan must fit securely against the inside edge of the window opening. 5. Slide the sliding window to meet the edge of the fan. The side edge of the window must fit securely behind the lip of fan housing. 6. Adjust the expandable panel to fill in remaining space between fan and window frame. Expandable panel locks into position using a specially designed extension system. To adjust, simply push or pull firmly on panel. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1. Be sure the power switch is in the Off position. 2. Plug into an electrical outlet. 3. This fan is manually reversible and will operate in either an intake or exhaust mode, depending on how it is positioned in the window. With fan blade facing the inside of the window, the fan will operate in the INTAKE mode, pulling fresh air in from the outside. With fan motor facing the inside of the window, the fan will operate in the EXHAUST mode, drawing stale, smoky air out of the room. To facilitate correct positioning, look for the words INTAKE and EXHAUST on fan casing and use them as a guide. 4. Set the power switch to the desired speed (Low or High). THERMOSTAT CONTROL SWITCH: To attain maximum comfort level or air movement, turn the thermostat in a clockwise direction to the maximum position. The fan will begin to operate. Once a comfortable room temperature has been reached, turn the thermostat control counterclockwise until the fan stops operating. This indicates to the thermostat that the desired setting has been attained. Thermostat will then work to cycle fan on and off to maintain chosen comfort level. Con la ventana completamente abierta, coloque el ventilador en la ventana con los anaqueles para soporte mirando hacia arriba y el interruptor para el control del termostato hacia adentro. 2. Sostenga el ventilador con una mano mientras coloca o ajusta los paneles con la otra mano. Coloque uno de los paneles deslizándolo por la ranura ubicada en la parte izquierda de arriba del ventilador. Si se requiere un segundo panel, colóquelo deslizándolo por la ranura en el lado del primer panel. Antes de cerrar la ventana, ajuste el panel extensible, si fuera necesario. 3. Cierre la ventana en la parte de arriba del ventilador con el filo de la base de la ventana detrás del borde de la parte de arriba del ventilador. 4. Si el ventilador no entrara adecuadamente en la ventana, ajuste otra vez el panel extensible del lado derecho del ventilador para rellenar el espacio sobrante entre el panel y el marco de la ventana hasta que quede asegurado adecuadamente. PARA VENTANAS VERTICALES TIPO CORREDERAS: 1. Ubique el ventilador en la ventana con el interruptor para el control del termostato hacia dentro. 2. Para ajustar la altura, retire el ventilador de la ventana. Si es necesario una altura adicional de 4” o menos, extienda el panel extensible hasta que concuerde con la altura de la ventana. (Por ejemplo, si la altura de la ventana es de 28”, ajuste el panel hasta que la altura del ventilador sea también de 28”). Si la altura del ventilador requerida es más de 28”, coloque uno o ambos paneles, como se describe en el # 2 de la sección de arriba PARA VENTANAS DOBLES TIPO COLGANTE. 3. Con la ventana completamente abierta, ubique el ventilador en la ventana con el panel extensible hasta arriba y con el interruptor para el control del termostato mirando hacia dentro. 4. El ventilador debe quedar asegurado contra el filo de adentro de la abertura de la ventana. 5. Deslice la ventana corrediza hasta tocar con el filo del ventilador. El filo del lado de la ventana debe estar asegurado detrás del borde del ventilador. 6. Ajuste el panel extensible para rellenar el espacio sobrante entre el ventilador y el marco de la ventana. El panel extensible se asegura en posición usando un sistema de extensión especialmente diseñado. Para ajustarlo, simplemente empuje o hale firmemente del panel. INSTRUCCIONES DE FUNCIONAMIENTO 1. INTERRUPTOR PARA EL CONTROL DEL TERMOSTATO: Para obtener un máximo nivel de comodidad o movimiento del aire, mueva el termostato hacia la derecha a la posición máxima. El ventilador comenzará a funcionar. Una vez que la temperatura de la habitación sea agradable, mueva el control del termostato hacia la izquierda hasta que el ventilador pare de funcionar. Esto indica al termostato que la posición deseada ha sido obtenida. El termostato comenzará a trabajar y a encender y apagar el ventilador para mantener el nivel escogido. MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS This appliance requires little maintenance and contains no user serviceable parts. Do not try to fix it yourself. Refer it to qualified service personnel if servicing is needed. This fan is permanently lubricated and will not require additional lubrication for the life of the fan. TO CLEAN: 1. Before cleaning, turn fan off completely and unplug from electrical outlet. 2. Remove fan from window and detach any panel inserts from fan assembly. 3. Wipe off excess dust with a lint-free cloth. To ensure adequate air circulation, keep vents free from dust accumulation. A vacuum cleaner hose may be used to clean these vents. 4. DO NOT immerse the fan in water or any other liquid. 5. To clean blades and front grille, use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screws that fasten front and rear grilles together. 6. Separate the two grilles carefully on the side AWAY FROM the built-in expandable panel. To prevent damage to the expandable panel, do not open grilles completely, but only enough to allow access to the inside with one hand. 7. Clean blades and grille with a soft, damp cloth. 8. When cleaning is complete, use the screwdriver to reassemble the fan. 9. Be sure all parts of fan are completely dry before attempting to reinstall it. TO STORE: Make sure to clean the fan before storing. Retain the original packaging for the purpose of storing your fan. Always store fan in a dry place. Never store it while it is still plugged in. Never wrap the cord tightly around the fan, and do not put any stress on the cord where it enters the fan, as it could cause the cord to fray and break.
