This section contains important safety instructions for using the appliance.

This appliance complies with statutory safety regulations. Improper use may

result in personal injury and property damage.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should

always be followed, including the following:

1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS.

2. To protect against ﬁre, electric shock and injury to persons do

not immerse cord, plugs, or the appliance in water or other

liquids.

3. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including

children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capa-

bilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they

are closely supervised and instructed concerning use of the

appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children

should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the

appliance.

4. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.

5. Unplug the appliance from the outlet when not in use and

before cleaning. Allow the appliance to cool before putting

on or taking oﬀ parts and before cleaning the appliance.

aged in any manner. Return the appliance to the nearest autho-

8. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the ap-

pliance manufacturer may result in ﬁre, electric shock, or injury

to persons. Use the appliance only with the supplied base.

9. Do not use the appliance outdoors.

10. Always attach kettle to base ﬁrst, then plug cord into the

wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to “oﬀ”, then

remove plug from wall outlet.

11. Do not let the cord hang over edge of table or counter or

touch hot surfaces, including the stove.

12. Do not place the appliance on or near a hot gas or electric

burner or in a heated oven.

13. Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use.

14. Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended

use.

15. Place the appliance on a stable surface. Boiling water can

cause an unstable kettle to fall over.

16. Do not ﬁll the kettle above the MAX mark! Otherwise,

boiling water may spill out.

17. Heat water only with the lid closed, otherwise the automatic

shut-oﬀ cannot function.

18. Do not operate the appliance without the scale ﬁlter insert.

19. Hot steam clouds may be released. The appliance also

becomes very hot during use. Risk of burns!

20. Do not open the lid while the water is boiling.

21. After use, the appliance will still have some residual heat.

Important cord information

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the

other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, there is only one way

this plug is intended to ﬁt into a polarized outlet. If the plug does

not completely ﬁt into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not

ﬁt, contact a qualiﬁed electrician. Do not attempt to modify the

plug in any way.

a) A short power supply cord (or detachable power supply cord)

is provided to reduce risks resulting from becoming entangled

in or tripping over a longer cord.

b) Longer detachable power supply cords or extension cords are

available and may be used if they are used carefully.

c) If a long detachable power supply cord or extension cord is

used:

1) The marked electrical rating of the detachable power supply

cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the

electrical rating of the appliance;

2) If the appliance has a grounded plug, the cord set or exten-

sion cord should also be a grounded 3-wire cord; and

3) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape

over the counter top or table top where it can be pulled on

by children or tripped over.

Intended use

This appliance is intended for boiling water, but it is not intended

for use with other liquids.

This appliance is intended exclusively for use in domestic house-

holds. Do not use this appliance in commercial or industrial

environments.

Operation

First use

► Always use freshly drawn tap water in the kettle! Do not con-

sume any water that is not certiﬁed as potable. If you do, you

are taking a risk with your health!

♦ Open the lid by pressing the release button 1.

♦ Fill the appliance with water up to the MAX mark and let it

come to a full boil once, as described in the next section.

♦ After it ﬁnished boiling, discard this water.

♦ Rinse the kettle with clear water.

♦ Reﬁll the appliance with water up to the MAX mark, and then

bring it to a boil. After it ﬁnished boiling, discard this water too.

♦ Rinse the kettle with clear water.

The appliance is now ready for use.

Boiling water

► Never place the electric base 4 close to water – this would be

a potentially fatal risk!

► Always use freshly drawn water. Do not consume any water

that has been left in the kettle for more than one hour. Do not

reboil water that has cooled down. Always discard old water.

Microbes could have formed in it!

► For safety reasons you should not open the lid when the water

is boiling or extremely hot. There is a risk of scalding.

► Always ensure that the ON/OFF switch 3 is not pressed

down when the power plug is unplugged and the appliance is

standing on the base 4. Otherwise the appliance could heat

up unintentionally as soon as the power plug is plugged in

again.

► This appliance is equipped with an overheating protector.

If the appliance is turned on accidentally without any water

in the kettle , the appliance turns oﬀ automatically.

If the appliance boils dry, for example due to a non-closed lid,

the appliance turns oﬀ automatically.

In such cases, ﬁrst allow the appliance to cool down before

using it again.

♦ Lift the kettle oﬀ the base when ﬁlling it!

♦ Press the release button 1 and open the lid.

► Hold the kettle upright to ﬁll it. This is the only way to read the

markings on the scale 2 correctly.

♦ Fill the kettle up to no more than the MAX mark with water.

♦ First close the lid, then place the kettle on the base 4 and

make sure that it sits securely on the base 4.

♦ Now insert the plug into the power socket.

♦ Push the ON/OFF switch 3 down until it engages.

♦ The light in the ON/OFF switch 3 shows that the appliance

is now heating up.

♦ As soon as the water is boiling, the appliance will turn oﬀ

automatically, the ON/OFF switch 3 clicks upward and

the light turns oﬀ.

Cleaning and maintenance

► Always remove the plug from the power socket before cleaning

the appliance.

► Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids!

► Allow the appliance to cool down suﬃciently before cleaning it.

Risk of Burns!

► Do not use abrasive or aggressive cleaning materials. They

could damage the upper surfaces and irreparably damage the

appliance.

♦ Clean the exterior surfaces and the power cord with a slightly

damp cloth. Be sure to dry the appliance well before using it

again. For stubborn stains add a mild detergent to the cloth.

Ensure that there are no detergent residues in and on the

appliance before using it again.

♦ Rinse the inside of the kettle with clean water.

♦ If there are any deposits in the kettle, wipe out the inside surface

with a damp cloth or use a dish or bottle brush. Then rinse the

kettle with clean water again.

In the event of scale deposits

Calcium deposits on the bottom of the appliance lead to in-

creased energy consumption and reduce the service life of the

appliance. Descale the appliance as soon as scale (calcium)

deposits become apparent.

♦ Use a descaling agent that is designed for household appli-

ances (e.g. for coﬀee machines). Proceed as outlined in the

instructions provided for the use of the decalcifying agent.

♦ After descaling, rinse the appliance with plenty of clean water.

Inserting/removing the scale ﬁlter insert

The spout of the kettle is equipped with a scale ﬁlter insert 6,

which can become clogged with particles or scale over time. To

clean the scale ﬁlter insert 6, simply remove it from the appliance.

♦ Open the lid.

♦ Inside the kettle, press the protruding tab on the scale ﬁlter

insert 6 slightly downward so that the scale ﬁlter insert 6 can

be removed.

♦ Clean the scale ﬁlter insert 6 with a slightly damp dish cloth

under running water.

♦ First, place the scale ﬁlter insert 6 with the lower lock in the

recess inside the kettle. Press the protruding tab on the scale

ﬁlter insert 6 slightly downward and slide it under the holder.

Ensure that the scale ﬁlter insert 6 clicks into place properly.

► If lime scale deposits have solidiﬁed in the scale ﬁlter insert 6,

place the ﬁlter in a water-vinegar solution with a ratio of 6:1

for a few hours. The lime scale deposits will dissolve. Rinse the

scale ﬁlter insert 6 with plenty of fresh water.

Storage

♦ Allow the appliance to cool down completely before putting it

into storage.

♦ Wind the power cord around the cord retainer 5 under the

base 4.

♦ Store the appliance in a clean and dry location.

Disposal of the appliance

household trash. If you can no longer use your electric appliance,

Disposal of the packaging

The packaging protects the appliance from damage during

transport. The packaging materials have been selected for their

environmental friendliness and ease of disposal, and are therefore

recyclable.

Returning the packaging to the material cycle conserves raw mate-

rials and reduces the amount of waste that is generated. Dispose

of packaging materials that are no longer needed in accordance

with applicable local regulations.

Note the marking on the diﬀerent packaging materials and sepa-

rate them as necessary. The packaging materials are marked with

abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) with the following meanings:

Operación

Primer uso

► ¡Use siempre agua potable fresca en el hervidor de agua!

No consuma agua que no esté certiﬁcada como potable.

♦ Para abrir la tapa, presione el botón de liberación 1.

♦ Llene el dispositivo con agua hasta la marca MAX y deje que

hierva por completo una vez, como se describe en la siguiente

sección.

♦ Enjuague el hervidor de agua con agua limpia.

♦ Llene el dispositivo con agua hasta la marca MAX, y luego

Cómo hervir agua

► Nunca coloque la base eléctrica 4 cerca del agua; ¡esto

podría representar un riesgo fatal!

► Use siempre agua fresca. No consuma agua que se haya

dejado en el hervidor de agua durante más de una hora. No

vuelva a hervir agua que se haya enfriado. Deseche siempre

el agua sobrante. ¡Podrían formarse microbios en ella!

► Por motivos de seguridad, no deberá abrir la tapa cuando

el agua esté hirviendo o extremadamente caliente. Existe el

riesgo de quemadura por escaldadura.

► Asegúrese siempre de que el botón de encendido y apagado

3 no esté presionado cuando se desconecte el enchufe y

que el dispositivo se encuentre sobre la base 4. De lo contrario,

el dispositivo podría calentarse inadvertidamente tan pronto

como la clavija de alimentación se enchufe de nuevo.

► Este dispositivo está equipado con un protector contra sobre-

calentamiento. Si el dispositivo se enciende accidentalmente

sin agua en el hervidor, se apaga automáticamente.

Si el dispositivo hierve hasta agotar el agua, por ejemplo,

debido a que la tapa no está cerrada, el dispositivo se apaga

automáticamente.

En tales casos, deje que el dispositivo se enfríe antes de volver

a usarlo.

♦ ¡Levante el hervidor de agua de la base al llenarlo!

♦ Presione el botón de liberación 1 y abra la tapa.

► Sostenga el hervidor vertical para llenarlo. Esta es la única

manera de leer las marcas en la escala 2 de modo correcto.

♦ Llene el hervidor con agua hasta no más de la marca MAX.

♦ Primero cierre la tapa, luego coloque el hervidor en la base 4

y asegúrese de que se apoye en forma segura en la base 4.

♦ Ahora inserte el enchufe en la toma de corriente.

♦ Presione el interruptor de encendido y apagado 3 hasta

que se active.

♦ La luz en el interruptor de encendido y apagado 3 muestra

que el dispositivo ahora está calentando.

♦ En cuanto el agua esté hirviendo, el dispositivo se apagará

automáticamente, el interruptor de encendido y apagado 3

se desactivará y la luz se apagará.

Limpieza y mantenimiento

► Desconecte siempre la clavija de la toma de corriente antes

de limpiar el dispositivo.

► ¡Nunca sumerja el dispositivo en agua u otro líquido!

► Permita que el dispositivo se enfríe lo suﬁciente antes de

limpiarlo. ¡Riesgo de quemaduras!

► No use materiales de limpieza abrasivos o agresivos. Estos

pueden dañar las superﬁcies superiores y dañar irreparable-

mente el dispositivo.

♦ Limpie las superﬁcies externas y el cable de alimentación con

una tela ligeramente húmeda. Seque siempre el dispositivo

adecuadamente antes de volver a usarlo. Para suciedad difícil,

agregue un detergente suave a la tela. Asegúrese de que no

haya residuos de detergente dentro o fuera del dispositivo

antes de volver a usarlo.

♦ Enjuague el interior del hervidor con agua limpia.

♦ Si hay algunos depósitos en el hervidor de agua, limpie la

superﬁcie interna con una tela húmeda, o use un cepillo para

platos o botellas. Después enjuague el hervidor con agua

limpia nuevamente.

En caso de depósitos de sarro

Los depósitos de calcio en el fondo del dispositivo causan mayor

consumo de energía y reducen la vida útil del dispositivo.

Elimine el sarro (calcio) del dispositivo en cuanto se noten los

depósitos.

♦ Use un eliminador de sarro que esté diseñado para dispositivos

domésticos (por ejemplo, para cafeteras). Proceda como se

describe en las instrucciones que se proporcionan para el uso

del agente de eliminación de sarro.

♦ Después de eliminar el sarro, enjuague el dispositivo con agua

abundante y limpia.

Inserción y retiro del aditamento del ﬁltro para sarro

La boca de descarga del hervidor está equipada con un adi-

tamento del ﬁltro para sarro 6, el cual puede obstruirse con

partículas o sarro a través del tiempo. Para limpiar el aditamento

del ﬁltro para sarro 6, simplemente retírelo del dispositivo.

♦ Abra la tapa.

♦ Dentro del hervidor, presione la pestaña saliente en el adi-

tamento del ﬁltro para sarro 6 ligeramente hacia abajo de

manera que el aditamento del ﬁltro para sarro 6 pueda

retirarse.

♦ Limpie el aditamento del ﬁltro para sarro 6 con una servilleta

para platos ligeramente humedecida en el chorro del agua.

♦ Primero, coloque el aditamento del ﬁltro para sarro 6 con el

seguro inferior en la depresión dentro del hervidor. Presione la

pestaña sobresaliente del aditamento del ﬁltro para sarro 6

ligeramente hacia abajo y deslícela debajo del soporte.

Asegúrese de que el aditamento del ﬁltro para sarro 6 haga

clic al insertarse en su lugar adecuadamente.

► Si los depósitos de sarro se han solidiﬁcado en el aditamento

de ﬁltro para sarro 6, coloque el ﬁltro en una solución de

agua-vinagre a una proporción de 6:1 durante unas cuantas

horas. Los depósitos de sarro se disolverán. Enjuague el adita-

mento del ﬁltro para sarro 6 con abundante agua potable.

Almacenamiento

♦ Deje que el dispositivo se enfríe completamente antes de

guardarlo.

♦ Enrolle el cable de alimentación alrededor del retén para

cable 5 debajo de la base 4.

♦ Guarde el dispositivo en un lugar limpio y seco.

Eliminación del dispositivo

Los dispositivos eléctricos no deben desecharse como parte de

la basura doméstica normal. Si ya no puede usar su dispositivo

eléctrico, elimínelo de conformidad con las disposiciones legales

Eliminación del empaque
