USE AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS
INTERNAL UNFINISHED DOOR
INTRODUCTION
Timber is a natural grown product and as such is subject to changes due to variations in moisture and temperature
resulting in minor swelling and shrinking. This is not a defect but a natural characteristic of timber. Warp at the face of
the door will be considered a defect if it exceeds 1/4 inch when measured as deviation from a straight edge on the
suspected concave surface of the door in its installed position.
STORAGE & HANDLING
This door must be stored in a dry and flat location. Do not expose the door to temperatures above 90 degrees
Fahrenheit and/or to direct sunlight. Do not expose the door to humidity level higher than 65%RH and lower than
30%RH.
Do not remove packaging until the door is to be installed.
PRECAUTIONS
This door is not recommended for installation in any new build or freshly plastered location. All plaster, texture or
cement must be completely dry to avoid excessive moisture penetration.

It is essential that door should be sealed with a washcoat or sealer (it depends on the finish being applied) on both
faces and four edges and any cutouts immediately. It is of utmost importance that both ends are completely sealed, as
this is where moisture can most easily penetrate the timber.
Moisture may cause swelling, splitting or warping.
HANGING
Prior to hanging this door, inspect for damages and do not proceed to fit the door if any noticeable damage or defect
is evident.
This door has a trimming allowance of 1/4-in. at each side and 1-in. at the bottom rail. All surfaces must be properly
sealed immediately after trimming. There is NO TRIMMING ALLOWANCE for the BIFOLD DOOR models.
Holes and drillings should not be at the rail and stile joints as this will result in a weakening of the joint and/or stile.
BIFOLD DOORS: The installation guide is available in the hardware package that came with the door or may be

BARN/SLIDING DOORS: The hardware installation must be done according to the hardware manufacturer
instructions.
FINISHING DOORS
The door should first be fitted and hung in its frame and drilled for all hardware. Prior to finishing, the door should
be removed from the frame and stripped of all hardware and them finish applied with the door laid flat.
Sand the entire door lightly using a #220 or higher grit number sand paper. Thoroughly remove all dust with a tack
cloth prior to applying finish. DO NOT USE compressed air to blow off dust of door as moisture in air will cause water
spotting.

Choose a good quality oil-based primer and a solvent-based enamel that suits your taste and apply it according to
the manufacturer instructions. Apply a minimun of two top coats of solvent-based enamel. Be sure that previous layer
of coat is completely dry before applying the next one. Cover all surfaces evenly! BE SURE TO SEAL TOP AND BOTTOM
of doors, as well as all sides.
Regardless of the finish being applied, a washcoat or sealer MUST be used on our pine doors. This will help create a
more even appearance and lessen the chance of raising the grain of the wood and/or a blotchy appearance. Water based
sealers; stains and paint have more of a tendency to raise the woods grain/veneers and should be avoided.
PAINTING: Choose any paint indicated for WOOD APPLICATION that suits your taste and apply it according to the paint
manufacturer instructions. Be sure that previous layer of paint coat is completely dry before applying the next one.
Cover all surfaces evenly! BE SURE TO SEAL TOP AND BOTTOM of doors, as well as all sides. Apply a minimum of two top
coats, sanding between coats.
STAINING: We recommend treat the surface with pre-stain or a wood conditioner prior to staining the door. Choose a
stain or clear undercoat indicated for WOOD APPLICATION that suits your taste and apply it according to the
manufacturer instructions. Apply three top coats of clear varnish or polyurethane and lightly sand between the coats.
MAINTENANCE & CLEANING RECOMMENDATIONS
It is recommended to clean the door twice a year (monthly in coastal areas) with a damp cloth and mild soap.
Do not power-wash doors or use a garden hose. This can cause seal failure and allow water to enter the structure.
Do not use sharp objets and/or abrasive cleaners, it can damage door surfaces.
Do not allow aggressive cleaners or solvents to come in contact with door surfaces. Immediately rinse and dry it.

incorrect fitting and finishing;
• EightDoors is not responsible for any other finishing applied to the door;
• No claim will be entered into if the door has not been correctly machined, finished and installed in accordance
with USE AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS. All doors must be properly sealed on all six surfaces.
• The conditions under which this door is stored, installed and sealed are beyond the manufacturer control and
therefore we cannot accept responsibility for or warranty against shrinkage, warping or splitting without
inspection and statement from EightDoors’s technical team.
We strongly advise against use in following locations:
• Freshly plastered location;
• Dwellings where concrete floors have recently been laid;
• A new build where central heating is used to accelerate the drying out process;
• Should this door be used in one or more of above locations we cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for
problems arising.

INSTRUCCIONES DE USO Y CUIDADOS
INTRODUCCIÓN
Madera es un producto cultivado naturalmente y está sujeta a cambios debido a las variaciones de humedad y
temperatura del ambiente, resultando en un mínimo hinchazón y encogimiento. Esto no es un defecto, sino una
característica natural de la madera. La deformación en las caras de la puerta será cosiderado un defecto si exceder 1/4
de pulgada cuando medido como la desviación de un borde recto sobre la supuesta superfície cóncava de la puerta en
su posición instalada.
ALMACENAMIENTO & MANEJO
Esta puerta debe ser almacenada en un lugar seco y plano. La puerta no debe ser exposta a temperaturas mayores
que 90 grados Fahreinheit o directamente a luz del sol. La puerta no debe ser exposta a humedad relativa superior a
65%HR o inferior a 30%HR.
No retire la embalaje (bolsa plástica) hasta que la puerta sea instalada.
PRECAUCIONES
No es recomendado instalar la puerta en obras y muros recién teminados o enyeasados. Todo el yeso, la textura o
el cemento deben estar completamente secos para evitar la penetración excesiva de humedad.
Es esencial que la puerta sea sellada con washcoat o sellador de base adecuado inmediatamente despues de
cualquier corte o planificación realizado. Es de suma importancia que las extremidades y bordes sean completamente
sellados, porque es donde la humedad puede penetrar más fácilmente en la madera.
La humedad puede causar hinchazón, partición o deformación.
COLGAR
Inspeccione la puerta antes de colgar. Si se observa algun daño o defecto no proceda con la instalacción.
Asegúrese de que los marcos y el stop están perfectamente alineados y a plomo.
Si se va reducir el tamaño de esta puerta, el corte máximo permitido es de 1/4 pulgada en cada lado y 1 pulgada en
el riel inferior. Todas las superficies deben ser selladas adecuadamente inmediatamente después del corte/planificación.
NO SON PERMITIDOS CORTES/PLANIFICACIÓN en los modelos de PUERTA BIFOLD.
Los agujeros para las cerraduras no deben ser echos en las juntas de los largueros y el peinazo/travesaño medio, ya
que esto resultará en un debilitamiento de la junta. Por lo tanto, el agujero de la cerradura debe mantenerse a un
tamaño mínimo y situarse lejos de la junta.

ACABADO
Primero se debe colgar la puerta en su marco y perforar todos los agujero para herraje. Despues se debe retirar la
puerta del marco, sacar las herrajes y aplicar el acabado con la puerta acostada.
Lijar la puerta entera ligeramente usando una lija grano #220 o superior (el lijado pesado con una lija gruesa puede
dañar las chapas). Quite completamente todo el polvo con un paño adhesivo limpio antes de aplicar el acabado. NO USE
aire comprimido para quitar el polvo de la puerta ya que la humedad en el aire causará manchas de agua.
Elija una imprimación a base de aceite de buena calidad y un esmalte a base de solvente que se adapte a su gusto y
aplíquelo de acuerdo con las instrucciones del fabricante. Aplique un mínimo de dos capas. Asegúrese de que la capa
anterior esté completamente seca antes de aplicar la siguiente. ¡Cubre todas las superficies de manera uniforme!
ASEGÚRESE DE SELLAR LA PARTE SUPERIOR E INFERIOR de las puertas, así como todos los lados.
Independientemente del acabado que se aplique, DEBE usarse una capa de washcoat o sellador en nuestras puertas
de pino. Esto ayudará a crear una apariencia más uniforme y reducirá la posibilidad de elevar las vetas de la madera y/o
manchas. Selladores, tinción y tinta a base de agua tienden más a elevar la veta de la madera y deben ser evitados.
PINTURA: Elija cualquier pintura indicada para APLICACIÓN DE MADERA que se adapte a su gusto y aplíquela según las
instrucciones del fabricante de la pintura. Asegúrese de que la capa anterior de pintura esté completamente seca antes
de aplicar la siguiente. ¡Cubre todas las superficies de manera uniforme! ASEGÚRESE DE SELLAR LA PARTE SUPERIOR E
INFERIOR de las puertas, así como todos los lados. Aplique un mínimo de dos capas, lijando entre capas.
TEÑIR/TINTURAR: Recomendamos tratar la superficie con un pre-condicionador de madera antes de teñir la puerta.
Elija un tinte indicado para APLICACIÓN EN MADERA que se adapte a su gusto y aplíquelo de acuerdo con las
instrucciones del fabricante. Aplique tres capas de barniz transparente o poliuretano y lije ligeramente entre capas.
MANTENIMIENTO & LIMPIEZA
Recomendamos el mantenimiento regular de esta puerta para evitar la degradación de la película de pintura y
proteger la madera contra el deterioro. Se recomienda limpiar la puerta dos veces al año (mensualmente en zonas
costeras) con un paño húmedo y jabón suave.
No utilice lavadoras de alta presión ni manguera de jardín para lavar las puertas. Esto puede danificar la película de
pintura/seallador y permitir que agua penetre en la estructura.
No utilice objetos afilados y/o limpiadores abrasivos, esto puede dañar las superficies de las puertas.
No permita que limpiadores agresivos o solventes entren en contacto con las superficies de las puertas. Enjuagar y
secar inmediatamente.

• No se aceptará reclamación si la puerta no ha sido aparada/cortada, acabada, sellada e/o instalada
correctamente de acuerdo con las instruciones anteriores de USO Y CUIDADOS. Todas las puertas deben estar
bien sellada en las seis superficies.
• Las condiciones bajo las cuales esta puerta es almacenada, instalada y sellada están fuera del control del
fabricante y por lo tanto no podemos aceptar responsabilidad o garantía contra la contracción, deformación o
división sin la inspección y declaración del equipo técnico de EightDoors.
Recomendamos encarecidamente no utilizar en los seguientes lugares:
• En las viviendas con reciente aplicación de yeso;
• En las viviendas donde recientemente se ha colocado pisos;
• En situaciones de nueva construcción donde se utiliza la calefación para acelerar el proceso de secado;
Si esta puerta se utiliza en uno o más de los lugares anteriores, no podemos aceptar niguma responsabilidad por los
problemas que surjan.
