This predictive clinical digital electronic thermometer is for the intermittent meas-
urement and monitoring of human adult and pediatric body temperatures; orally,
and under the arm.
This thermometer IS intended to be used:
• For self-measurement/monitoring of human body temperature whereas the
person being measured may be the user/operator of the device.
• Orally, and Under the Arm (axillary).
• Adults
• Pediatric
This thermometer IS NOT intended for use with:
• Neonatal
General Warnings
• Contact your physician in case of prolonged fever as this requires medical
attention, especially for young children.
• Self-measuring means monitoring, not diagnosis or treatment. Under no
circumstances should you independently alter the dosages of any drugs
prescribed by your physician.
• Do not use this device if you think it is damaged or anything appears
unusual (e.g. sporadic operation, open packaging upon purchase).
• To avoid possible injury, do not run or walk while using this device.
• Ensure that children are supervised around this medical device; some
parts are small enough to be swallowed.
• Keep batteries away from children; harmful if swallowed.
• Do not dispose of the battery or device in fire; the battery may explode.
• Do not use a metal tool to replace the battery; doing so may short
circuit the terminals.
• Do not attempt to recharge the battery as they are not rechargeable.
• Only open the thermometer battery cover to replace the battery (when
applicable); and replace all batteries at the same time if more than one is
required for the thermometer. We do not recommend the use of recharge-
able batteries for replacements.
• Do not open/modify this device; inaccuracy and/or harmful injury may result.
• Performance of this thermometer may be degraded if used outside of its
specified operation temperature and humidity rating, or if stored outside of
its specified storage temperature and humidity rating. Avoid dust and stor-
age in direct sunlight.
• Performance of this thermometer may be degraded if the device is
exposed to mechanical shock.
• Performance of this thermometer may be degraded if the patient’s temper-
ature is lower than that of the ambient.
• Performance of this thermometer may be degraded if the tip is dirty or
damaged; ensure the tip is clean before using.
• Performance of this thermometer may be degraded if the probe cover is
dirty or a probe cover not intended for use with this device is used.
• Any probe covers that may be included in this device package are for
single use only.
• This device contains sensitive electronics components. Avoid strong elec-
trical or electromagnetic fields in the direct vicinity of the device (e.g.,
mobile telephones, microwave ovens). These can lead to temporary
impairment of the measuring accuracy. Move the device to another loca-
tion if interference is determined. Maintain a minimum distance of 3.3 m
from such devices when using this unit.
• According to international standards, your device should be checked for
accuracy every 2 years.
• Batteries and electronic instruments must be disposed of in accordance with
the locally applicable regulations as domestic waste.
TO USE:
This thermometer can be used with or with-
out a tip cover. To use a cover, slide onto
sensor tip until fully engaged and peel off
paper. Covers are for single use, do not
reuse. If thermometer has been in a cold
environment, allow it to warm up to room
temperature for about 15 minutes before
use. Avoid storing at temperatures above
140˚ (60˚ C).
Attach one probe-tip to thermometer base
by aligning tip and pressing together until
you feel and hear the two pieces snap
together. Test by pulling gently, to ensure a
secure fit.
POSITION THERMOMETER:
To position for underarm use: Place sensor
tip in the very center of the underarm next to
bare skin (skin should be clean and dry).
Hold the arm close to the body. Slide ther-
mometer into the center of the underarm.
To position for oral use: Place thermometer
under the tongue, slightly to the left or right,
as far back as comfortably possible. Keep
lips closed during the reading.
TAKE TEMPERATURE:
1. Press the ON/OFF button once. You will hear
one quick beep. Thermometer will display
standard pretest (188.8°), then for about 2
seconds will show the last
measured temperature reading.
2. Position thermometer for desired measurement location (underarm or
oral use). Hold thermometer in place until it beeps 10 times.
3. You may read temperature before or after removing thermometer.
4. Press and release the ON/OFF button to turn the thermometer off. (If
you forget, it
will turn off automatically in about 10 minutes.)
5. Clean thermometer according to instructions,
and store in protective
storage case.
The Digital Display:
Underarm reading: An underarm temperature will be about one degree
lower than a temperature taken orally. To calculate oral equivalent
precisely, add 0.9°F (0.5°C) to the display.
High Temperature Alarm: If temperature reading is higher than 99.5°F
(37.5°C), 2 short beeps will sound continuously for 13 seconds indicating
that a high temperature may be present.
Indicates a reading below 90°F (32°C)
Flashes when reading is above 109.9°F
(42.9°C) 188.8° is a normal pre-test display.
Indicates battery needs to be changed. The
unit will not work until battery is replaced.
• Indicates thermometer is malfunctioning
and should be replaced.
• Indicates thermometer turned on without
probe tip attached
Changing from Fahrenheit to Celsius and vice versa
1. Simply press the On/Off button and hold
for 4 seconds.
2. The display will show --- F or --- C with
“M” disappearing
3. Release the On/Off button and press it
again; one short beep will be
heard when
scale is shifted. The thermometer
will enter
ready for measurement after 3 seconds.
TO CLEAN:
Clean thermometer before and after every use. There are 2 cleaning options:
Dishwasher:
1. Probe tips (only) may be detached from thermometer base and
washed in the dishwasher, top rack only. To detach, hold thermometer
base securely in one hand, and pull probe tip gently yet firmly in a
straight direction from base. Do not twist or bend.
2. To dishwash probe tips, place probe tip into mesh dishwasher bag and
close drawstring tightly to retain probe tip in bag. Place bag on top rack
only of dishwasher, making sure it is securely fastened. Never allow mesh
bag to fall to the bottom rack of the dishwasher. Run dishwasher with
a normal cleaning cycle. It is not recommended to use the extra high
heat drying cycle. Be sure probe tip is completely
dry before using, to
avoid any drops of water entering the thermometer
base.
Do not place thermometer base in dishwasher, as this will cause
permanent damage.
Alcohol:
1.
If preferred, you may clean sensor tip by wiping with a soft cloth or cotton
ball that has been dampened with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Wipe dry.
2. For thermometer base, wipe surface with a damp cloth or sponge using
70% isopropyl alcohol. Wipe with clear water. Wipe dry or air dry.
TO STORE:
• All components should be contained in the storage case for storage or
travel. It is important that all components be thoroughly cleaned AND
dried before storing in case. Storing damp items can result in mildew.
TO REPLACE BATTERY:
If display is unclear or shows Í , the battery needs to be replaced. Use
one 1.50 V Button Cell, SR41, or the equivalent.
1. Remove the battery compartment cover.
2. Use a toothpick or insulated probe to remove the battery. Avoid using
any sharp metal object. Be sure to dispose of battery properly (see
warning below).
3. Insert new battery, with contact down (side with writing up).
4. Replace cover.
FEVER FACTS
These tips provide general information only. In all cases of fever or illness,
the advice of your own healthcare provider should be your guide.
• Remember: Fever is a symptom, not an illness. It is a sign of the body’s
effort to fight an infection – a healthy response of the immune system.
The majority of fevers will not need antibiotics or other treatment.
• In children, a high fever can occur suddenly, and even a low fever can
sometimes be dangerous. It’s a good idea to take a “benchmark”
temperature reading when your child is well and you can both feel
comfortable doing it. Ask your healthcare provider what thermometer
reading you should consider “high” for this particular child, and what
steps are to be taken.
• Observe your child carefully. The way your child acts is often more
important than your child’s actual temperature. Watch for lethargy,
irritability, and lack of appetite.
LIMITED WARRANTY:
This thermometer includes a limited lifetime warranty by Microlife USA
Inc, against manufacturer defects for the original purchaser only, from
date of purchase.
This lifetime warranty applies to the thermometer. Batteries and case are
not covered by this warranty. There are no user serviceable parts inside.
The warranty does not apply to consequential and incidental damages,
or damage caused by batteries, improper handling, and accidents.

rofessional use, not following the operating instructions, and alterations
made to the device or accessory by third parties, are also not included
in this warranty. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of
incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion
may not apply to you.

this warranty, determined to be out of specification, will be replaced and
shipped to you at no cost. A product or accessory as defined by this
warranty, determined to be within specification, will be returned to you
with a report of findings, at no cost.

Test Protocol (for laboratory use only):
1. Attach tip to thermometer body.
2. Place thermometer into waterbath. The tip of the thermometer should
be approximately 2cm below the surface.
3. Wait for 10 seconds, then turn the thermometer on by pressing the
blue “On/Off” button. The thermometer is now in standard mode.
4. When the thermometer reaches peak value, it will beep 5 times.
5. When the measurement is completed, record the temperature reading.

USAR:
Este termómetro puede ser utilizado con o sin
una cubierta de punta. Para utilizar una cubierta,
deslícelo en la punta del sensor hasta que esté
completamente comprometida. Si el termómetro
ha estado en un ambiente frío, deje que se
caliente a temperatura ambiente durante unos 15
minutos antes de su uso. Evite almacenar a tem-
peraturas superiores a 140˚ F (60˚ C).
Adjunta una punta de sonda a la base de
termómetro alineando la punta y apretando jun-
tos hasta que usted sienta y oiga el dos chasqui-
do de pedazos juntos. Prueba tirando suave-
mente, para asegurar un adecuado seguro.
TERMÓMETRO DE POSICIÓN:
A posición para uso de axila: la punta de
sensor de lugar en el mismo centro de la axila al
lado de la piel desnuda (la piel debería ser limpia
y seca). Sostenga el brazo cerca del cuerpo. ter-
mómetro de diapositiva en el centro de la axila.
A posición para uso oral: termómetro de lugar
bajo la lengua, ligeramente a la izquierda o dere-
cho, hasta donde cómodamente posible. Guarde
labios cerrados durante la lectura.
TOME LA TEMPERATURA:
1. Apretar el con./desc. botón una vez. Usted oirá un
bip rápido. El termómetro mostrará la preprueba
estándar (188.8), luego para aproximadamente 2
segundos mostrará la última lectura de temperat-
uras mesurada.
2. Termómetro de posición para posición de medida deseada (axila o uso oral).

3. Usted puede leer la temperatura antes o después de quitar el termómetro.

LA DEMOSTRACIÓN DIGITAL:
Lectura de axila: una temperatura de axila será sobre un grado más abajo que
una temperatura tomada oralmente. Para calcular el equivalente oral exacta-
mente, añada a 0.9 Farenheit (0.5 Celsius) a la demostración.
Alarma de temperatura alta: Si la lectura de temperaturas es más alta que 99.5
Farenheit (37.5 Celsius), 2 bips cortos sonarán continuamente durante 13 segun-
dos indicando que una temperatura alta puede estar presente.
Indica una lectura debajo de 90 Farenheit
(32°C)
Los destellos cuando la lectura está encima de
109.9°F (42.9°C) 188.8 son una demostración de

después de 3 segundos.
LIMPIAR:
Limpie el termómetro antes y después de cada uso: Hay 2 opciones de limpieza:
Lavavajillas
1. Sonda consejos (sólo) puede separarse de la base del termómetro y lavar en
el lavavajillas, la bandeja superior solamente. Para extraerlo, sostienen la
base de termómetro de forma segura en una mano y tire de punta de la
-sonda con suavidad pero con firmeza en línea recta desde la base. No
tuerza o se doble.
2. Para lavavajillas puntas, punta de la sonda a cabo en la bolsa de malla
lavavajillas y cerrar cordón firmemente para retener punta de la sonda en la
bolsa. Coloque la bolsa en bandeja superior del lavavajillas, asegurándose de
que esté bien sujeta. Nunca permita que la bolsa de malla que caen a la ban-
deja inferior de la lavadora. Ejecutar lavavajillas con un ciclo de limpieza nor-
mal. No se recomienda la utilización del calor extra alta ciclo de secado. Ser
la punta de la sonda esté completamente seca antes de usar, para evitar que
las gotas de agua que entra en la base del termómetro. No coloque la base
del termómetro en el lavavajillas, ya que esto causará un daño permanente.
Alcohol:
1. Si lo prefiere, puede limpiar por la punta del sensor con un paño suave o una
bola de algodón que se ha humedecido con alcohol isopropílico al 70%. Seque.
2. Para que la base del termómetro, seque la superficie con un paño húmedo o
una esponja con alcohol isopropílico al 70%. Limpie con agua limpia. Seque
seco o aire.
ALMACENAR:
• Todos los componentes deberían estar contenidos en el caso de almacenaje

HECHOS DE FIEBRE
Estas puntas proporcionan la información general sólo. En todos los casos de

Protocolo de Prueba (para uso de laboratorio solamente):
