1 Functions and Features

The SonicWall® Multi-Gigabit PoE Injector is IEEE 802.3bt compliant and provides DC power

over an Ethernet cable by converting AC power. The Multi-Gigabit PoE Injector is a

convenient and efficient power solution for IP phones, WLAN access points, network

cameras, and other PoE devices. It is also compact enough to place on a desktop. The Multi-

Gigabit PoE Injector supports 10/100/1000/2500/5000 Mbps pass-through data rates. The

PoE OUT port provides up to 60W, 56 Vdc (+ pins 3,6,4,5/return pins 1,2,7,8), 1.07 A.

Installing the PoE Injector

1 Attach the power cord terminated with standard IEC 60320 connector to the PoE AC connector.

2 Using an Ethernet cable (RJ-45), connect the IN port to the network.

3 Using an Ethernet (straight) cable (RJ-45), connect the OUT port to the target device's terminal.

CAUTION: Do not use a cross-over cable between the Multi-Gigabit PoE Injector output port

(PoE OUT) and the target device.

NOTE: The included power cord is approved for use only in specific countries or regions. Before

using a power cord, verify that it is rated and approved for use in your location. If it is not

correct for your location, please contact your supplier.

CAUTION: Do not cover the Multi-Gigabit PoE Injector or block the airflow to the Multi-

Gigabit PoE Injector with any foreign objects. Avoid placing the Multi-Gigabit PoE Injector in

areas with excessive heat, humidity, vibration, or dust. Maximum altitude 3,038 m.

Troubleshooting

The following section includes troubleshooting procedures:

Multi-Gigabit PoE Injector does not power on.

•Verify that the supplied power cord is fully connected.

•Verify that the AC outlet voltage is between 100-240 VAC.

•Remove injector from power outlet, then re-apply power, checking the LED indicators upon

powering on the device.

The target device does not operate OR the end device operates, but there is no

data link.

•Verify that the Multi-Gigabit PoE Injector detects the target device.

•Verify that the target device is compatible for PoE operation.

•Verify that you are using a standard CAT 5e/6/7, straight-wired cable with four pairs.

•If using a power-splitter, verify that it is connected properly.

•Verify that the target device is properly connected to the Multi-Gigabit PoE Injector ports.

•If available, reconnect the same target device to a different Multi-Gigabit PoE Injector. If it

connects, there may be a faulty port or Ethernet cable connection.

•Verify that the Ethernet cable length does not exceed 100 meters (330 feet) from the Ethernet

source to the load/remote terminal. For best results, SonicWall recommends a maximum distance

of 30 meters.

•Verify that there are no short-circuits over any of the cables or connectors.

Safety and Regulatory Information

•SonicWall recommends installation and removal of the Multi-Gigabit PoE Injector be performed by

qualified personnel.

•The included power cord(s) are approved for use only in specific countries or regions. Before using

a power cord, verify that it is rated and approved for use in your location.

•Power cord must be 3 conductor. One conductor must be ground/earth appropriately terminated

as ground/earth contact on both ends.

•To disconnect power, remove power cord from either the Multi-Gigabit PoE Injector or the wall

outlet.

•Connector pins of PoE Injector data and data/power ports comply with Limited Power Source

requirements per IEC 62368-1 2nd edition.

CAUTION: Read the installation instructions before connecting the PoE Injector to its

power source.

•Both “IN” and “OUT” RJ-45 connectors support Multi-Gigabit PoE and are for Ethernet

communications only. Do not connect these ports directly to communication wiring or other

wiring that exits the building where PoE injector is located.

•Disconnect power and do not use if damaged or defective (do not repair, not user serviceable).

•A suitably-rated and approved branch circuit breaker shall be provided as part of the building

installation. Follow local code when purchasing materials or components.

•Consideration must be given to the connection of the equipment to the supply circuit. Appropriate

consideration of equipment nameplate ratings must be used when addressing this concern.

2 Fonctions

Résolution des problèmes

L’injecteur PoE ne se met pas sous tension.

•Vérifiez que le cordon d’alimentation fourni est complètement enfoncé.

•Vérifiez que la tension de la prise secteur se trouve entre 100 à 240 Vc.a.

•Déconnectez l’injecteur de la prise, rebranchez-le et examinez les voyants DEL lors de la mise sous

tension de l’appareil.

L’appareil cible ne fonctionne pas ou l’appareil cible fonctionne, mais il n’y a

•Vérifiez que l’injecteur PoE SonicWall détecte bien l’appareil cible.

•Vérifiez que l’appareil cible peut fonctionner sur PoE.

•Vérifiez que vous utilisez un câble droit et standard, CAT 5e/6/7, avec quatre paires.

•Si vous utilisez un diviseur de puissance, vérifiez qu’il est connecté correctement.

•Vérifiez que l’appareil cible est bien connecté aux ports de l’injecteur PoE.

El inyector PoE no enciende.

•Verifique que el cable de alimentación está conectado.
