Important Information

Your Warranty

Your system comes with a warranty. The warranty terms are de-

tailed at the end of this guide. Make sure that you receive the

proof of purchase from your dealer, indicating the product was

installed by an authorized Viper Powersports dealer.

Introduction

Your Viper PowerSports VPS450 GPS system secures your vehicle

with built-in starter disable feature and GPS location. It prevents

the vehicle from being started, or sends you alerts if your vehicle is

stolen or moved without permission.

In order to optimize the battery life of your powersports vehicle,

the VPS450 is kept in sleep mode at all times unless woken up by

speciﬁc activity:

Device Status Description

Ignition ON Stays awake as long as the ignition is ON.

Vehicle Movements

Stays awake as long as there is movement, unless the

water mode is ON.

Check IN

The device will wake up and report once every 25

hours or once every 5 hours if the water mode is ON.

Alerts

The device wakes up with any related alerts sets, un-

less the water mode is ON. (see “Alert” on page 8

for features available).

Override

Input from the local override switch will wake up the

device for a short period of time.

Notes: Locate requests, starter disable commands and alert pro-

gramming changes can only be sent when the device is awake.

Using the local override switch

Turn the ignition ON, wait 10-15 seconds to make sure the system

is awake, then press the override switch and crank the starter. The

starter disable condition will stay active until an enable command

is sent from the mobile app.

Important: The VPS450 can take 45-60 seconds to connect to

the cellular network after it wakes up and will not respond to

commands until connected.

To ensure that you can start your vehicle quickly and easily in

remote areas where cellular coverage may be poor, we rec-

ommend that your authorized Viper Powersports dealer always

installs the local override switch. This allows you to securely start

the vehicle even if the device is out of contact with the network.

Downloading the Mobile Application.

Viper Powersports vehicles are supported by the Viper SmartStart

app, putting control of all of your vehicles at your ﬁngertips.

Using the Mobile Application

Starter Disable Status

Make sure the top right corner is listing the vehicle you want to

control. If you want to change the selected vehicle, tap its name

and choose another vehicle from the horizontal list. The vehicle

starter can be disabled by pressing the button.* When the button

shows ON, the starter is disabled. When it shows OFF, the starter

is enabled. You can also schedule the starter enable command.

*IMPORTANT: The vehicle must be awake to send a starter

disable command or real-time starter enable command. If the

vehicle is asleep, you can send a scheduled start enable com-

mand, which will execute shortly after the next time the vehicle

wakes up.

Change Vehicle or Check Status

Tap your vehicle name in the top right corner of the application

window to access the device status screen.

To change vehicles, tap the desired vehicle name or image. To

check status of the currently selected vehicle, tap

. If you want

to change the vehicle settings, press the button at the bottom of

the status screen.

Alert

Alerts are sent automatically via push notiﬁcation, unless you opt

out during the app onboarding process or have switched off noti-

ﬁcations in your phone settings for the Viper SmartStart app. You

can also manage settings for SMS and email alert notiﬁcations via

the vehicle settings

*Note: Alert settings can get out of synch. You may need to

cycle the settings ON/OFF or OFF/ON to ensure current set-

tings are correct.

Vehicle Settings

Tap the vehicle name in the header bar, then vehicle settings at

bottom of the page. You can enter your vehicle information in the

spaces provided.

Personalize your app by tapping the vehicle image link to add

a picture of your vehicle. (Note: if you did not allow the app to

access your camera or photos when you installed it, you will need

to update those settings before using this feature).

Select Icon: This feature allows you to choose which type of icon

represents your vehicle on the map for GPS location. You can se-

lect an icon showing a classic car, side-by-side, ATV, motorcycle,

snowmobile, recreational vehicle, boat, personal watercraft, etc.

Water Mode: Select Water Mode to prevent the system from wak-

ing up in boats or watercraft that are left in the water. This prevents

excess battery consumption due to rocking motion or bumping

against piers or buoys etc. With this mode active, the system will

only wake up if it detects ignition ON.

To limit the distance the boat could be moved without being locat-

ed, in Water Mode the system will automatically log its location

with the server every 5 hours instead of the usual 25 hour interval.

The additional location checks will cause a slight increase in over-

all battery consumption.

Notiﬁcations: Push notiﬁcations are set up automatically as long

as you opted in during initial launch of the app, and have not

changed the phone’s notiﬁcation settings for the Viper SmartStart

app.

You can also opt to receive SMS and/or email notiﬁcations by

adding your phone number and carrier information and email ad-

dress on the notiﬁcations page and saving those changes. SMS

and email alerts are set OFF by default.

Warning!

Water/Dust Resistance

Viper Powersports products are intended for use in wet and dusty

environments. The main module is rated IP66 for protection against high

pressure water jets and dust ingress. None of the components are rated for

complete submergence, which may cause them to fail.

Limited One Year Consumer Warranty

For a period of ONE YEAR from the date of purchase of a Directed

Electronics remote start or security product, Directed Electronics.

(“DIRECTED”) promises to the original purchaser, to repair or replace with

a comparable reconditioned piece, the security or remote start accessory

piece (hereinafter the “Part”),which proves to be defective in workmanship

or material under normal use, provided the following conditions are met:

the Part was purchased from an authorized DIRECTED dealer; and the Part

is returned to DIRECTED, postage prepaid, along with a clear, legible copy

of the receipt or bill of sale bearing the following information: consumer’s

name, address, telephone number, the authorized licensed dealer’s name

and complete product and Part description.

This warranty is nontransferable and is automatically void if the Part has

been modified or used in a manner contrary to its intended purpose or the

Part has been damaged by accident, unreasonable use, neglect, improper

service, installation or other causes not arising out of defect in materials

or construction.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, EXCEPT AS STATED

ABOVE, ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO EXPRESS

WARRANTY, IMPLIED WARRANTY, WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY,

FITNESS FOR PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND WARRANTY OF

Introducción

Su sistema GPS VPS450 Powersports de Viper protege a su vehí-

culo con una función integrada de desactivación de arranque y

localización GPS. El VPS450 impide que el vehículo arranque,

o le envía alertas si el vehículo es robado o movido sin permiso.

Con el ﬁn de optimizar la vida útil de la batería de su vehículo

Powersports, el VPS450 se mantiene desactivado hasta que una

actividad especíﬁca lo active:

Estado del dispositivo Descripción

Encendido activo (ON)

El dispositivo se mantiene activo mientras el encendi-

do esté activo (ON).

Movimientos del vehículo

El dispositivo se mantiene activo mientras haya

movimiento, a menos que la modalidad de agua esté

activada (ON).

Reportes

El dispositivo se activa y reporta una vez cada 25

horas o una vez cada 5 horas si la modalidad de

agua está activada (ON).

Alertas

El dispositivo se activa con cualquier conjunto de

alertas, a menos que la modalidad de agua esté

activada (ON). (Consulte “Alerta” en la página 8

Anulación

durante un breve período de tiempo.

Usar el interruptor de sustitución local

Importante: EI VPS450 puede tardar de 45 a 60 segundos en

conectarse a la red celular después de activarse, y no respon-

de a los comandos hasta conectarse.

Para que su vehículo arranque rápida y fácilmente en áreas

remotas donde la cobertura celular puede ser deﬁciente,

recomendamos que el distribuidor autorizado de Viper Power-

sports instale siempre el interruptor de anulación local. Esto per-

mite arrancar el vehículo con seguridad incluso si el dispositivo

no está en contacto con la red.

Uso de la aplicación móvil

Estado de la desactivación de arranque

Asegúrese de que la esquina superior derecha indique el vehí-

culo que desea controlar. Si desea cambiar de vehículo, toque

el nombre correspondiente y seleccione otro vehículo de la lista

horizontal. El arranque del vehículo se puede desactivar presion-

ando el botón.* Cuando en el botón aparece la palabra ON,

el arranque está desactivado. Cuando aparece la palabra OFF,

el arranque está activado. También es posible programar para

después un comando de activación de arranque.

*IMPORTANTE: El vehículo debe estar activado para recibir

el comando de desactivación de arranque o el comando de

activación de arranque en tiempo real. Si el vehículo está

desactivado, se puede enviar un comando de activación de

arranque programado para después, que se ejecutará poco

después de que el vehículo se vuelva a activar.

Conﬁguraciones del vehículo

Toque el nombre del vehículo en la barra de encabezado, luego

Select Icon (Selección de icono): Esta función permite elegir el

icono que representa a su vehículo en el mapa para la local-

ización GPS. Usted puede seleccionar un ícono que muestre un

automóvil clásico, un vehículo de dos pasajeros, un Vehículo Todo

Terreno (All Terrain Vehicle, ATV), una motocicleta, una motonieve,

un vehículo recreativo, una embarcación, un vehículo acuático,

etc.

Water Mode (Modalidad acuática): Seleccione la modalidad

acuática para evitar que el sistema se active en embarcaciones o

vehículos acuáticos que se dejan ﬂotando. Esto evita el consumo

excesivo de la batería debido al vaivén y los golpes contra muel-

les, boyas, etc. Cuando esta modalidad está activa, el sistema se

activa solo si detecta la activación del encendido (ON).

Para reducir la distancia que la embarcación se podría mover

sin ser localizada, en modalidad de agua el sistema registra au-

tomáticamente la posición en el servidor cada 5 horas en lugar

del intervalo habitual de 25 horas. Las veriﬁcaciones de posición

adicionales causan un ligero aumento en el consumo de batería

en general.

Notiﬁcaciones: Las notiﬁcaciones de empuje se conﬁguran au-

tomáticamente a condición de que usted las haya habilitado

durante el inicio de la aplicación y no haya cambiado las con-

ﬁguraciones de notiﬁcación del teléfono para la aplicación Viper

SmartStart.

También puede optar por recibir notiﬁcaciones por SMS y/o

correo electrónico dando en la página de notiﬁcaciones su núme-

ro de teléfono y los datos y la dirección de correo electrónico

de la compañía de teléfonos, y luego guardando los cambios.

Las alertas por SMS y correo electrónico están desactivadas por

defecto.

Resistencia al agua y al polvo

Los productos Viper Powersports han sido diseñados para ambientes

húmedos y polvorientos. El módulo principal tiene una clasificación IP66

de protección contra chorros de agua a alta presión y entrada de polvo.

Ninguno de los componentes ha sido diseñado para inmersión total, que

puede averiarlos.

Directed Electronics (“DIRECTED”) promete al comprador original reparar o

cambiar, por una pieza reacondicionada comparable, la pieza accesoria

que en condiciones de uso normal manifieste defectos de materiales o

mano de obra, si se cumple lo siguiente: la Pieza le fue comprada a

con el franqueo pagado y una copia legible y clara del recibo o factura

con la siguiente información: nombre, dirección y número de teléfono del

consumidor; nombre del distribuidor licenciado autorizado y descripción

completa del producto y de la Pieza.

Esta garantía no es transferible y queda automáticamente anulada si

la Pieza ha sido modificada, se ha utilizado de manera contraria a lo

previsto o ha sido dañada por accidente, uso no razonable, descuido,

servicio inapropiado, instalación inapropiada o causas que no surjan de

defectos de materiales o fabricación.

EN LA MÁXIMA MEDIDA PERMITIDA POR LA LEY, TODAS LAS

GARANTÍAS, INCLUIDAS, ENTRE OTRAS, LA GARANTÍA EXPRESA,

FEDERALES CORRESPONDIENTES SE APLICARÁN Y REGIRÁN LA
