Welcome to the world of Philips Lumea! You are only a few weeks away from

silky-smooth skin.

Lumea uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology, known as one of the most

effective methods to continuously prevent hair growth. In close collaboration

with expert scientists and dermatologists, we adapted this light-based

technology, originally used in professional beauty salons, for easy and effective

use in the comfort of your home. Lumea is gentle and offers convenient and

effective treatment at a light intensity that you find comfortable. Unwanted hairs

are finally a thing of the past.

Lumea can be used on the body and on the female face (below the cheekbone).

Contraindications

Conditions

Never use the device:

-If you are under the age of 18years or above 65years.

-If you have skin tone marked with in the 'Suitable skin tones' table at the

start of the user manual.

-If you are pregnant or breastfeeding as the device was not tested on

pregnant or breastfeeding women.

-If you have any active implants such as a pacemaker, neurostimulator, insulin

pump, etc.

Medications/History

Never use the device if you take any of the medications listed below:

-If your skin is currently being treated with or has been treated in the last

7days with Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), Beta-Hydroxy Acids (BHAs), topical

tretinoin and azelaic acid.

-If you have taken any form of isotretinoin Accutane or Roaccutane in the last

six months. This treatment can make skin more susceptible to tears, wounds

and irritations.

-If you are taking photosensitizing agents or medications, check the package

insert of your medicine and never use the device if it is stated that it can cause

photo-allergic reactions, photo-toxic reactions or if you have to avoid sun

when taking this medicine.

-If you take anticoagulation medications, including heavy use of aspirin, in a

manner which does not allow for a minimum 1-week washout period prior to

each treatment.

Never use the device:

-If you have received radiation therapy or chemotherapy within the past

3months.

-If you are on painkillers which reduce the skin's sensitivity to heat.

-If you take immunosuppressive medications.

Pathologies/Disorders

Never use the device:

-If you have diabetes or other systemic or metabolic diseases.

-If you have congestive heart disease.

-If you have a disease related to photosensitivity, such as polymorphic light

eruption (PMLE), solar urticaria, porphyria, etc.

-If you have a history of collagen disorder, including a history of keloid scar

formation or a history of poor wound healing.

-If you have epilepsy with flashlight sensitivity.

-If your skin is sensitive to light and easily develops a rash or an allergic

reaction.

-If you have a skin disease such as active skin cancer, you have a history of skin

cancer or any other localized cancer in the areas to be treated.

-If you have a history of vascular disorder, such as the presence of varicose

veins or vascular ectasia in the areas to be treated.

-If you have any bleeding disorder.

-If you have a history of immunosuppressive disease (including HIV infection or

AIDS).

-If you have a skin pigmentation disorder such as vitiligo.

Skin conditions

Never use the device:

-If you have infections, eczema, burns, inflammation of hair follicles, open

lacerations, abrasions, herpes simplex (cold sores), wounds or lesions and

haematomas (bruises) in the areas to be treated.

-On irritated (red or cut), sunburned, tanned or fake‑tanned skin.

-On the following areas: on moles, freckles, large veins, darker pigmented

areas, scars, skin anomalies without consulting your doctor. This can result in

a burn and a change in skin tone, which makes it potentially harder to

identify skin-related diseases.

-On the following areas: warts, tattoos or permanent make-up.

Location/Areas

Never use the device on the following areas:

-Around the eyes and on or near the eyebrows. Lumea can only be used on

the body and on the female face (below the cheekbone).

-On the lips, scalp, perineum, nipples, areolas, labia minora, vagina, anus and

the inside of the nostrils and ears.

-On areas where you use long-lasting deodorants. This can result in skin

reactions.

-Over or near anything artificial like silicone implants, subcutaneous injection

ports (insulin dispenser) or piercings.

-Men must not use the device on the face and neck including all beard-

growing areas, nor on the whole genital area. The hairs in these areas have

different characteristics. The skin may get burnt (with pain, prolonged skin

redness and pigmentary changes).

Note: This list is not exhaustive. If you are not sure whether you can use the

device, we advise you to consult your doctor.

Important safety instructions

Warnings

Please read and follow these instructions to optimize the use of the device and

prevent/minimize the risk of injury, skin reactions and side effects.

-Before you use Lumea, you should clean your skin and make sure it is hair-

free, entirely dry and free from any lotion or gel.

-Keep the device and the adapter dry.

-The device is not washable. Never immerse the device in water and do not

rinse it under the tap.

-Water and electricity are a dangerous combination. Do not use this device in

wet surroundings (e.g. near a filled bath, a running shower or a filled

swimming pool). Moisture can damage the device and lead to a potential

safety hazard.

-Always check the device before you use it. Do not use the device or adapter if

it is damaged. Always replace a damaged part with one of the original type.

-If the device or adapter is broken or damaged, do not touch any inner part to

avoid electric shock.

-Do not use the device if the UV filter of the light exit window and/or

attachment is broken, as safe operation cannot be guaranteed under these

circumstances.

-Do not attempt to open or repair your device. Opening Philips Lumea may

expose you to dangerous electrical components and to pulsed light energy,

either of which may cause bodily and/or eye injury.

-Always return the device to a service center authorized by Philips for

examination or repair. Repair by unqualified people could cause an

extremelyhazardous situation for the user.

-No modification of this equipment is allowed. Do not modify, override or cut

off any part of the device (e.g. adapter or the cord), as this causes a hazardous

situation.

-Do not look at the flash while using the device. Use the device in a well-lit

room so that the light is less glaring to your eyes. While not necessary for

safety, you may wear sunglasses or goggles for your convenience if you find

the light uncomfortable or too bright.

-Do not flash the same spot multiple times during a treatment. The surface of

the attachment should overlap the previous spot to make sure you flash the

complete skin area, but treating the same area multiple times does not

increase efficacy.

-For hygienic reasons, the device should only be used by one person.

-Do not use hair removal creams in the area (to be) treated with the device, as

chemicals may cause skin reactions.

-Do not use any pencil or pen to mark the areas to be treated. This may cause

burns on your skin.

-Hair removal by intense pulsed light sources can cause increased hair growth

in some individuals. Based upon currently available data, the highest risk

groups for this response are females of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and

South Asian heritage treated on the face and neck.

-If you experience skin irritation or skin redness after treatment, wait until it

disappears before applying any product to your skin. If you experience skin

irritation after applying a product to your skin, wash it off with water. If you

still get skin reactions, stop using the device and consult your doctor.

-If shaving, epilating or waxing causes skin irritation, we advise you not to use

the device until the skin irritation has disappeared.

-This device is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory

or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have

been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the device by a

person responsible for their safety.

-Keep Lumea out of the reach of children.

-Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the

device. Supervision is required to avoid potential risks such as exposure to the

light output, electrocution, strangulation from the cables or choking on the

attachments.

-Always avoid exposure to natural sunlight and artificial sunlight up to

4weeks before your Lumea treatment and 48hours afterward. Sensitive or

tanned skin is more likely to result in burns or pigmentation changes. Protect

your skin from sunlight with clothing or apply sun-blocking products of not

less than SPF50 on the non-covered treatment areas. Read the instructions in

chapter 'Using your Lumea before and after sun exposure or tanning' to learn

how to use your Lumea safely.

-Do not use your Lumea within 2weeks after using artificial tanning products

(such as creams, sprays or pills). Artificially tanned skin is more likely to result

in burns or pigmentation changes. Read the instructions in chapter 'Using

your Lumea before and after sun exposure or tanning' to learn how to use

your Lumea safely.

-If you notice a skin tone change since the last treatment, we advise you to

perform a skin test and to wait 24 hours before your next treatment. If after

this period skin reactions occur or persist, use a lower device setting which did

not lead to skin reactions or stop using the device when already at the lowest

setting (➀).

-Always check the device before you use it. Make sure that the skin tone

sensor window is clean when using the device, to avoid improper operation

(see 'D Clean & store after treatment').

-The light exit window and the inner parts of the attachment can become very

hot (>210°C) during usage. Always let the light exit window, as well as the

inner parts of the attachment, cool down before you touch them.

-This device has a detachable adapter. Only use the adapter provided with this

device. The reference number (S036Nx2400150) can be found on your

device. The 'x' in this number refers to the plug type for your country.

-Follow the recommended treatment schedule. Increasing the frequency,

especially in the initial phase, can increase the risk of skin reactions.

How IPL works

With Intense Pulsed Light technology, gentle pulses of light are applied to the

skin and absorbed by the hair root. The lighter the skin and the darker the hair,

the better the pulses of light are absorbed.

The pulses of light stimulate the hair follicle to go into a resting phase. As a

consequence, the hair sheds naturally and hair growth is prevented.

The cycle of hair growth consists of different phases. IPL technology is only

effective when the hair is in its growing phase. Not all hairs are in the growing

phase at the same time. This is why we recommend you to follow the initial

treatment phase (4treatments, every treatment 2weeks apart) and then the

follow-up treatment phase (touch-ups every 4weeks) to make sure all hairs are

effectively treated in the growing phase.

Tip: To assure long lasting hair removal, touch-ups every 4 weeks are

recommended.

Suitable body hair colors

Treatment with Lumea is not effective if you have light blond, grey, red or white

hairs as hairs with these colors do not absorb enough light. To check if your body

hair color allows usage of the device, consult the hair color table on the foldout

page.

Recommended treatment schedule

Initial phase

To achieve effective hair reduction, follow the initial treatment schedule.

Initial treatment schedule

For the first 4treatments, use Lumea once every 2weeks to ensure that all hairs

are treated.

-Perform a treatment within 3days before or after the planned treatment

date.

-If you have not treated yourself within 3days before or after the planned

treatment date, restart the initial phase. Plan in 4treatments, 1treatment

every 2weeks.

Note: If you do not restart the initial phase, you may not see effective hair

reduction.

Note: Replacing one of the IPL treatments with another hair removal method

(waxing, epilating, etc.) will not help to reach the desired hair reduction.

If you want to remove hairs in between the Lumea treatments, you can use your

normal hair removal method (excluding hair removal creams).

Touch-up phase

After the initial phase (4 treatments), we recommend touch-ups every 4 weeks.

Touch-up treatment schedule

Perform a treatment every 4weeks. Repeat this 8 times to achieve effective hair

reduction. This is to maintain results and enjoy smooth skin for months.

-We advise you to perform a treatment within 4days before or after the

planned treatment date.

-The results may vary based on your individual hair growth and also across

different body areas.

-If you have completed the touch-up phase and you see the need to continue

treatment (hair starts coming back), we advise you to restart the initial phase.

Note: Using the device more often does not increase efficacy.

Tip: Mark the treatment schedule on your calendar to remind yourself of the

planned treatments.

What to expect

During initial phase

-Afterthe first treatment, it can take 1 to 2 weeks for the hairs to fall out. In

the first weeks following the initial treatments, you still see some hairs

growing.These are likely to be hairs that were not in their growing phase

during the first treatments.

-After 2-3 treatments, you should see a noticeable reduction in hair growth.

However, to effectively treat all hairs, it is important to keep on treating

according to the recommended treatment schedule.

-After 4treatments, you should see a significant reduction of hair growth in

the areas that you treated with Lumea. A reduction of hair density should be

visible as well.

During touch-up phase

-Keep on treating with frequent touch-ups (every 4 weeks) to maintain the

result.

How to use your Lumea

A Remove hair & clean your skin

1Remove hair before every treatment as long as hair is still visible. You can

either shave, epilate or wax. Make sure you start to treat before new hair is

visible on your skin. If you choose to wax, wait 24 hours before you use

Lumea.

Note: If shaving, epilating or waxing causes skin irritation, we advise you not

to use the device until the skin irritation has disappeared.

2Clean and dry your skin. Make sure that it is free from any lotion or gel.

B Test skin 24 hours before treatment

1Test your skin to find the correct light setting:

-For every new body area and/or new attachment.

-After sun exposure or tanning (see 'Using your Lumea before and after sun

exposure or tanning').

2Select the correct attachment to test your skin (see 'Attachments').

3Press the on/off button to turn on the device.

4Choose an area for your skin test.

5Press the device firmly onto your skin and hold it in place.

The integrated safety system prevents unintentional flashingwithout full skin

contact.

6Confirm that the 'READY to flash' light lights up white to ensure that there is

full contact with your skin.

-If the 'READY to flash' light is orange, your skin is too dark to treat. Try Lumea

on a lighter body area.

7Try each setting on your skin and find your comfortable setting.

If the flash feels uncomfortable and you experience pain, lower the setting.

If you still experience an uncomfortable feeling while using the lowest setting

(➀), please stop using the device.

-When the 'READY to flash' light is white, press the flash button on the handle

once, to treat one spot with setting ➀.

The device makes a soft popping sound. The flash gives you a warm

sensation.

Note: You can toggle through the light intensity settings by pressing the

on/off button (see 'Selecting the light intensity').

-Move to next area. Treat one spot with setting ➁

-Move to next area. Treat one spot with setting ➂

24 hours

8Wait 24 hours.

Note: Even though you found your comfortable setting during the skin test, it

may occur that skin reactions show within 24hours after usage.

9Check your skin for any reactions (e.g. redness, irritation, rash).

If there are no skin reactions after 24hours, start the treatment with the

highest comfortable setting.

If the highest comfortable setting resulted in a skin reaction, choose a lower

setting that did not result in any skin reactions.

If you did not test a lower setting, repeat the skin test.

C Treatment

IMPORTANT: First finish sections A (Remove hair & clean your skin) and B (Test

skin 24hours before treatment) before starting treatment.

1Connect the power adapter to the device and plug into a power outlet.

2Press the on/off button to turn on the device.

3Choose the setting you selected after the skin test (section B, step 9).

4Press the device firmly onto your skin and hold it in place. The 'READY to

flash' light should light up white.

5Press the flash button to release a flash on your skin. The flash treats the skin

in that spot. The device makes a soft popping sound. The flash gives you a

warm sensation.

After each flash, it takes up to 3.5 seconds until the device is ready to flash

again. You can release a flash when the 'READY to flash' light lights up white.

6Move to an adjacent spot and press the flash button again. The surface of the

attachment that is in contact with your skin is slightly larger than the light exit

window.

Do not flash the same spot multiple times during a treatment. The surface of

the attachment should overlap the previous spot to make sure you flash the

complete skin area, but treating the same area multiple times does not

increase efficacy.

7Continue until you have treated the full area. There are two treatment modes

(see 'Two treatment modes: Stamp & Flash and Slide & Flash').

8Turn off the device when you finished the treatment.

9Remove hair before every next treatment, as long as hair is still visible.

D Clean & store after treatment

1Unplug the device from the power outlet.

2Let the device cool down.

3Moisten the soft cloth supplied with a few drops of water.

4Take the attachment off the device.

5Clean the light exit window of the device (A).

6Clean all surfaces of the attachment, including the metal reflector (parts B, C,

D, E).

7Let all parts dry thoroughly.

8Store in a dust-free and dry place.

Learning more about your Lumea

Attachments

For optimal results, it is important to use the correct attachment intended for the

specific body area you want to treat. Lumea offers full-body treatment with up

to three attachments designed for use on specific body areas.

Note: The device may not work anymore and show an error when there is dirt on

the attachment connector. Clean the contact leads when this occurs.

To place the attachment, simply snap it onto the light exit window.

To remove the attachment, pull it off the light exit window.

Body attachment

The body attachment has the largest treatment window and a design to

effectively cover and treat areas below the neckline, especially large areas such

as legs, arms and stomach.

Face attachment (SC1997, SC1998, SC1999)

The face attachment has an extra integrated red glass filter for safe and precise

treatment on the sensitive skin above the upper lip, chin and sideburns. The

device is only intended for removing unwanted body hair from areas below the

cheekbones. When you use the device on areas with sharp contours like the

jawline and chin, it may be difficult to establish full skin contact and release a

flash.

Tip: Place your tongue between your upper lip and your teeth or puff out your

cheeks to make the treatment easier.

Bikini attachment (SC1998, SC1999)

The bikini attachment is designed for effective treatment of the bikini area. Hair

in this area tends to be thicker and stronger than leg hair.

Skin tone sensor

Lumea has an integrated skin tone sensor which measures the skin tone at the

start of each session and during the session.

The skin tone sensor prevents you to treat areas of your skin that are too dark. If

it detects a skin tone that is too dark for treatment with Lumea, the ‘READY to

flash' light starts blinking orange. It does not flash when you press the flash

button. The device automatically disables. This prevents you from developing

skin reactions.

Selecting the light intensity

Lumea provides 5 different light intensities, you will always be able to change to

a light intensity setting you find comfortable.

1Press the on/off button to turn on the device and select the desired light

intensity.

2To adjust the light intensity setting, use the on/off button until you have

reached the required setting.

Skin sensitivity can differ per person, the skin test is the most important guide

for selecting your light intensity setting (see 'B Test skin 24 hours before

treatment').

3Using Lumea should never be uncomfortably painful. If you experience

discomfort, reduce the light intensity setting.

Note: The device is automatically disabled when your skin tone is too dark

(dark brown or dark, marked with in the 'Suitable skin tones' table at the

start of the user manual), to prevent you from developing skin reactions. The

‘READY to flash’ light will blink orange to indicate if the skin tone is too dark.

4After moving to another body area or sun exposure or tanning (see 'Using

your Lumea before and after sun exposure or tanning'), perform a skin test to

determine a comfortable light intensity setting. To re-activate the setting

indication feature, turn on the device.

Note: Perform a skin test before you start to treat another body area or after a

skin tone change. Determine the light intensity setting for each body area

separately.

Two treatment modes: Stamp & Flash and Slide &

Flash

YourPhilips Lumea has two treatment modes for more convenient use on

different body areas:

-The Stamp & Flash mode is ideal to treat small orcurvy areas like knees and

underarms. Simply press and releasethe flash button to release a single flash.

-The Slide & Flash mode offers convenient use on larger areas like legs. Keep

the flash button pressed while you slide the device over your skinto release

several flashes in a row.

Using your Lumea before and after sun exposure

or tanning

Tanning with natural or artificial sunlight

Exposing your skin to natural or artificial sunlight may result with tanning which

influences the sensitivity and color of your skin. Therefore the following is

important:

-Do not expose your skin to sunlight unprotected when using Lumea. During

the entire IPL treatment period, and especially in the first 48hours after

treatment, protect your skin from sunlight with clothing or apply sun-

blocking products of not less than SPF50 on the non-covered treatment areas.

-Do not start or resume using Lumea within 4weeks after exposing your skin

to sunlight unprotected (natural sunlight or tanning bed).

-Do not use Lumea on sunburned body areas.

Tanning with creams, sprays or pills

If you have used artificial tanning (creams, sprays or pills), wait at least 2weeks

before you use the device. Perform a skin test before starting or resuming your

treatment with Lumea (see 'B Test skin 24 hours before treatment').

Traveling with the device

When you travel with the device, check with the airplane carrier to confirm that

the device can be carried and/or used on the airplane.

After use

Aftercare

After use, you can apply lotions, creams, deodorant, moisturizer or cosmetics to

the treated areas.

Warning: If you experience skin irritation or skin redness after

treatment, wait until it disappears before applying any product to

your skin. If you experience skin irritation after applying a product

to your skin, wash it off with water. If you still get skin reactions,

stop using the device and consult your doctor.

Common skin reactions

Your skin may show slight redness and/or may prickle, tingle or feel warm. This

reaction disappears quickly.

Dry skin and itching may occur due to shaving or a combination of shaving and

light treatment. You can cool the area with an ice pack or a wet face cloth. If

dryness persists, you can apply a non-scented moisturizer on the treated area.

Rare side effects

-Burns, excessive redness (e.g. around hair follicles) and swelling: these

reactions occur rarely. They are the result of using a light intensity that is too

high for your skin tone. If these reactions do not disappear within 3 days, we

advise you to consult a doctor. Wait with the next treatment until the skin has

healed completely and make sure you use a lower light intensity.

-Skin discoloration: this occurs very rarely. Skin discoloration manifests itself as

either a darker patch (hyperpigmentation) or a lighter patch

(hypopigmentation) than the surrounding area. This is the result of using a

light intensity that is too high for your skin tone. If the discoloration does not

disappear within 2 weeks, we advise you to consult a doctor. Do not treat

discolored areas until the discoloration has disappeared and your skin has

regained its normal skin tone.

-Skin infection is very rare but is a possible risk following a (micro)wound, a

skin burn, skin irritation, etc.

-Epidermal heating (a sharply defined brownish area which often occurs with

darker skin tones and is not accompanied with skin dryness): this reaction

occurs very rarely. In case this reaction does not disappear within 1 week, we

advise you to consult a doctor. Wait with the next treatment until the skin has

healed completely and make sure you use a lower light intensity.

-Blistering (looks like small bubbles on the surface of the skin): this occurs very

rarely. In case this reaction does not disappear within 1 month or when the

skin gets infected, we advise you to consult a doctor. Wait with the next

treatment until the skin has healed completely and make sure you use a

lower light intensity.

-Scarring: often the secondary effect of a burn, which can take longer than a

month to heal.

-Folliculitis (swelling around hair follicles combined with pustule formation):

this reaction occurs very rarely and is the result of bacteria penetrating the

damaged skin. In case this reaction occurs, we advise you to consult a doctor

as folliculitis may need antibiotic ointment.

-Pain: this can occur during or after treatment if you use the device on skin

that is not hair-free, if you use the device at a light intensity that is too high

for your skin tone, if you flash the same area more than once and if you use

the device on open wounds, inflammations, infections, tattoos, burns, etc.

Troubleshooting

the eyebrows, on the lips, perineum, scalp,

nipples, areolas, labia minora, vagina, anus

and the inside of the nostrils and ears. Men

must not use it on the face and neck

including all beard growing areas and

whole genital area. This can result in a burn

and a change in skin color, which makes it

potentially harder to identify skin-related

diseases.

No use nunca el dispositivo:

-Si tienes menos de 18años o más de 65años.

-Si tienes un tono de piel marcado con en el cuadro de "Tonos de piel

-Si estás embarazada o en período de lactancia, ya que no se ha probado en

estos casos.

-Si llevas algún implante activo, como un marcapasos, un neuroestimulador,

una bomba de insulina, etc.

Medicación/Historial

No utilice el dispositivo si está tomando alguno de los siguientes medicamentos:

-Si estás realizando o hace menos de una semana has terminado un

tratamiento para la piel con alfahidroxiácidos (AHA), betahidroxiácidos

(BHA), tretinoína tópica y ácido azelaico.

-Si ha tomado algún tipo de isotretinoína, como Accutane o Roaccutane, en

los últimos seis meses. Este tratamiento puede ocasionar la aparición de

heridas e irritaciones.

-Si toma sustancias o medicamentos fotosensibilizantes, consulte el prospecto

del medicamento y no use el dispositivo si se indica que puede causar

reacciones fotoalérgicas, fototóxicas o si tiene que evitar la luz solar durante

el tratamiento con esta medicación.

-Si toma anticoagulantes o toma aspirinas de forma sistemática, sin que pueda

suspender la medicación durante un mínimo de una semana antes de cada

tratamiento.

antecedentes de cáncer de piel o cualquier otro tipo de cáncer localizado en

las zonas que se van a tratar.

-Si tiene antecedentes de trastornos vasculares, como presencia de venas

varicosas o ectasia vascular en las zonas que se van a tratar.

-Si sufre algún trastorno sanguíneo.

-Si tiene antecedentes de enfermedad inmunodepresiva (incluida la infección

por VIH o SIDA).

-Si tienes un trastorno de pigmentación cutánea como el vitiligo.

Afecciones cutáneas

No use nunca el dispositivo:

-Si tienes infecciones, eccemas, quemaduras, folículos inflamados, heridas

abiertas, abrasiones, herpes simple (calenturas), heridas, lesiones y

hematomas (cardenales) en las zonas que se van a tratar.

-En piel irritada (enrojecida o agrietada), piel con quemaduras solares, piel

bronceada o piel‑autobronceada.

-En las zonas siguientes: En lunares, pecas, venas varicosas, zonas de

pigmentación más oscura, cicatrices o anomalías cutáneas, sin consultar antes

con su médico. El tratamiento puede ocasionar quemaduras y cambios en el

tono de la piel, lo que podría dificultar la identificación de enfermedades

dermatológicas.

-En las zonas siguientes: verrugas, tatuajes o maquillaje permanente.

Zonas/áreas

No utilices el dispositivo en las siguientes zonas:

-Alrededor de los ojos o cerca de las cejas. Lumea solo puede utilizarse en el

cuerpo y en el rostro femenino (por debajo de los pómulos).

-En los labios, el cuero cabelludo, el perineo, los pezones, las areolas, los labios

menores, la vagina, el ano y el interior de los orificios nasales y las orejas.

-En zonas donde use desodorantes de acción prolongada. Puede ocasionar

reacciones cutáneas.

-Sobre o cerca de ningún implante artificial de silicona, vías de inyección

subcutáneas (dosificadores de insulina) o piercings.

-Los hombres no deben utilizar el dispositivo en la cara y el cuello, incluidas las

zonas donde crece barba, ni en toda la zona genital. El vello de estas zonas

tiene características diferentes. La piel puede quemarse (con dolor,

enrojecimiento prolongado de la piel y cambios de pigmentación).

Instrucciones importantes de seguridad

-El agua y la electricidad forman una combinación peligrosa. No utilice este

pero tratar la misma zona varias veces no incrementa la eficacia.

-Por motivos de higiene, el dispositivo debería ser usado únicamente por una

sola persona.

-No utilice cremas depilatorias en la zona tratada o que vaya a tratarse con el

dispositivo, ya que los productos químicos pueden causar reacciones

cutáneas.

-No utilice lápices o bolígrafos para marcar las zonas que desea tratar. Podría

causar quemaduras en la piel.

-La eliminación del vello con láser o luz pulsada intensa puede provocar un

aumento del crecimiento del vello en algunas personas. Según los datos

disponibles actualmente, el mayor riesgo de que se produzca esta respuesta

se plantea en mujeres con ascendencia mediterránea, de Oriente Medio o del

sur de Asia cuando utilizan láser o luz pulsada intensa en la cara o el cuello.

-Si experimenta irritación o enrojecimiento en la piel después del tratamiento,

espere hasta que desaparezca antes de aplicar cualquier tipo de producto

sobre la piel. Si experimenta irritación en la piel después de aplicar algún

producto, enjuáguela con agua. Si sigue teniendo reacciones cutáneas, deje

de usar el dispositivo y consulte a su médico.

-Si el afeitado o la depilación causan irritación en la piel, le recomendamos

que no utilice el dispositivo hasta que la irritación haya desaparecido.

-Este dispositivo no deben usarlo por personas (adultos o niños) con

capacidades físicas, psíquicas o sensoriales reducidas, ni quienes carezcan de

los conocimientos y la experiencia necesarios, a menos que una persona

responsable de su seguridad les supervise o les indique cómo utilizarlo.

-Mantenga Lumea fuera del alcance de los niños.

-Asegúrese de que los niños no jueguen con este dispositivo. Se requiere

supervisión para evitar riesgos, como la exposición a la salida de luz,

electrocución, estrangulación con los cables o asfixia con los accesorios.

-Evite siempre la exposición a la luz solar natural y a la luz solar artificial hasta

cuatro semanas antes del tratamiento con Lumea y 48 horas después. La piel

sensible o bronceada tiene más probabilidades de sufrir quemaduras o de

experimentar cambios de pigmentación. Proteja su piel de la luz solar con

ropa o aplique productos de protección solar de no menos de SPF50 en las

áreas del tratamiento no cubiertas. Lea las instrucciones del capítulo "Uso de

Lumea antes y después de la exposición al sol o del bronceado" para

cerciorarse de cómo usar Lumea de forma segura.

-No utilice Lumea dentro de las dos semanas siguientes después de usar

productos de autobronceado (como cremas, pulverizadores o pastillas). La

piel bronceada de manera artificial tiene más probabilidades de sufrir

quemaduras o de experimentar cambios de pigmentación. Lea las

instrucciones del capítulo "Uso de Lumea antes y después de la exposición al

sol o del bronceado" para cerciorarse de cómo usar Lumea de forma segura.

-Si percibes un cambio en el tono de la piel desde el último tratamiento, te

recomendamos que lleves a cabo una prueba de piel y que esperes 24 horas

antes del siguiente tratamiento. Si después de este periodo ocurren o

persisten reacciones cutáneas, utilice un ajuste de dispositivo más bajo que

no produzca reacciones cutáneas o deje de usar el dispositivo cuando ya esté

en el ajuste más bajo (➀).

-Revise siempre el dispositivo antes de utilizarlo. Asegúrese de que la ventana

del sensor de tono de piel esté limpia cuando utilice el dispositivo para evitar

un funcionamiento (consulte "D Limpieza y almacenamiento después del

tratamiento") incorrecto.

-La ventana de salida de luz y las piezas interiores del accesorio pueden

calentarse mucho con el uso (>210°C). Deje siempre que la ventana de salida

de luz y las piezas internas del accesorio se enfríen antes de tocarlas.

-Este dispositivo cuenta con un adaptador extraíble. Utilice solo el adaptador

Cómo funciona la luz pulsada intensa (IPL)

Con la tecnología Intense Pulsed Light, se aplican suaves pulsos de luz a la piel

que las raíces del vello absorben. Cuanto más clara es la piel y más oscuro es el

vello, mejor se absorben los pulsos de luz.

Los pulsos de luz estimulan el folículo piloso para que entre en una fase de

reposo. Como consecuencia, el vello desaparece de forma natural y se evita el

crecimiento.

El ciclo de crecimiento del vello consta de diferentes etapas. La tecnología IPL

solo es efectiva cuando el vello se encuentra en su etapa de crecimiento. No

todos los vellos se encuentran en la fase de crecimiento al mismo tiempo. Por

esta razón, recomendamos seguir la fase de tratamiento inicial (4 tratamientos,

con 2 semanas de separación entre tratamientos) y después la fase de

Programa de tratamiento sugerido

Fase inicial

Para lograr una reducción efectiva del vello, siga el programa de tratamiento

inicial.

Programa de tratamiento inicial

En los primeros 4tratamientos, utiliza Lumea una vez cada 2semanas para tener

la seguridad de que tratas todo el vello.

-Realiza un tratamiento dentro de los 3días anteriores o posteriores a la fecha

de tratamiento planificada.

-Si no te has tratado dentro de los 3días anteriores o posteriores a la fecha de

tratamiento planificada, repite la fase inicial. Planifica 4tratamientos,

unocada 2semanas.

Nota: Si no repite la fase inicial, es posible que no observe una reducción efectiva

del vello.

Nota: Sustituir uno de los tratamientos IPL por otro método de eliminación del

vello (cera, depilación, etc.) no ayudará a lograr la reducción del vello deseada.

Para eliminar vello entre los tratamientos con Lumea, utiliza tu método de

eliminación de vello habitual (excepto cremas depilatorias).

Fase de retoque

Después de la fase inicial (4tratamientos), sugerimos retoques cada 4semanas.

Calendario de los tratamientos de retoque

Realiza un tratamiento cada 4semanas. Repita este proceso 8veces para lograr

una reducción efectiva del vello. Esto sirve para mantener los resultados y

disfrutar de una piel suave durante meses.

-Te aconsejamos que realices un tratamiento dentro de los 4días anteriores o

posteriores a la fecha de tratamiento planificada.

-Los resultados pueden variar en función del tiempo que el vello tarde en

crecer y de cada zona del cuerpo.

-Si ha completado la fase de retoques y cree que es necesario continuar el

tratamiento (el pelo comienza a volver a crecer), le recomendamos que repita

la fase inicial.

Nota: Usar el dispositivo con más frecuencia no incrementa la eficacia.

Consejo: Marque el programa de tratamiento en un calendario para recordar los

tratamientos planeados.

Expectativas

Durante la fase inicial

-Despuésdel primer tratamiento, el vello pueden tardar de 1 a 2 semanas en

desprenderse. En las primeras semanas después de los tratamientos iniciales,

verá que crece algo de vello.Suele ser vello que no estaba en su etapa de

crecimiento durante los primeros tratamientos.

-Después de 2 a 3 tratamientos, debería notar una reducción visible en el

crecimiento del vello. Sin embargo, para tratar de forma efectiva todo el vello,

es importante mantener el tratamiento de acuerdo con el programa

recomendado.

-Después de cuatro tratamientos, deberías notar una reducción visible del

crecimiento del vello en las áreas donde hayas utilizado Lumea. También

debería ser visible la reducción de la densidad del vello.

Durante la fase de retoques

-Continúe el tratamiento con retoques frecuentes (cada 4 semanas)para

mantener el resultado.

Cómo usar Lumea

A Retire el vello y limpie la piel

1Si hay vello visible, retírelo antes de cada tratamiento. Puede afeitar, recortar,

depilar o eliminar con cera el vello. Asegúrate de iniciar el tratamiento antes

de que el vello nuevo sea visible en la piel. Si decide depilarse con cera, espere

24horas antes de usar Lumea.

Nota: Si el afeitado o la depilación causan irritación en la piel, le

recomendamos que no utilice el dispositivo hasta que la irritación haya

desaparecido.

2Limpie y seque la piel. Asegúrate de que esté libre de cualquier loción o gel.

B Realiza una prueba sobre la piel 24horas antes del

tratamiento

1Realice una prueba de la piel para seleccionar el ajuste de luz correcto:

-Para cada nueva área del cuerpo y/o nuevo accesorio.

-Después de la exposición al sol o el bronceado (consulte "Uso de Lumea antes

y después de la exposición al sol o del bronceado").

2Selecciona el accesorio adecuado para realizar la prueba de la piel (consulte

"Accesorios").

3Pulse el botón de encendido/apagado para encender el dispositivo.

4Elija una zona para realizar la prueba de piel.

5Presione el dispositivo firmemente sobre la piel y sosténgalo sin moverlo.

El sistema de seguridad integrado evita que se produzcan pulsos de luz

accidentalessin contacto total con la piel.

6Compruebe que la luz "READY to flash" se ilumina en color blanco, lo que

garantiza que hay contacto total con la piel.

-Si la luz "READY to flash" es de color naranja, significa que la piel es

demasiado oscura para tratarla. Pruebe Lumea en una zona del cuerpo más

clara.

7Prueba cada uno de los ajustes en la piel hasta que encuentres uno que te

resulte cómodo.

Si la pulsación de luz resulta incómoda y experimentas dolor, reduce el ajuste.

Si sigues experimentando una sensación de incomodidad al utilizar el ajuste

más bajo (➀), deja de usar el dispositivo.

-Cuando la luz "READY to flash" se ilumine en blanco, pulsa una vez el botón

de emisión en el mango para tratar un punto concreto con el ajuste ➀.

Si no se producen reacciones cutáneas después de 24horas, comienza el

tratamiento con el ajuste más alto que te resulte cómodo.

Si el ajuste más alto que te resulte cómodo da lugar a una reacción cutánea,

elige un ajuste de menor intensidad que no provoque ninguna reacción de la

piel.

Si no has probado un ajuste de menor intensidad, repite la prueba de la piel.

C Tratamiento

IMPORTANTE: Finaliza las secciones A (eliminar el vello y limpiar la piel) y B (hacer

una prueba en la piel 24horas antes del tratamiento) antes de empezar el

tratamiento.

1Conecte el adaptador de corriente al dispositivo y enchúfelo a una toma de

corriente.

2Pulse el botón de encendido/apagado para encender el dispositivo.

3Elija el ajuste que haya seleccionado después de realizar la prueba de la piel

(secciónB, paso9).

4Presione el dispositivo firmemente sobre la piel y sosténgalo sin moverlo. La

luz "READY to flash" debe encenderse en color blanco.

5Pulse el botón de emisión de pulsos de luz para generar un pulso sobre la

piel. El pulso de luz trata la piel de ese punto. El dispositivo hace un sonido de

chasquidos suaves. El flash produce sensación de calor.

Después de cada pulso, el dispositivo tarda hasta 3,5segundos hasta estar

listo para emitir un nuevo pulso. Puede emitir un pulso cuando la luz de

"READY to flash" se encienda en color blanco.

6Pasa a una zona adyacente y vuelve a pulsar el botón de emisión de pulsos. La

superficie del accesorio que va en contacto con la piel es ligeramente más

grande que la ventana de salida de luz.

No apliques pulsos de luz en el mismo punto varias veces durante un

Accesorios

Para obtener resultados óptimos, es importante utilizar el accesorio correcto

todo el cuerpo y dispone de hasta tres accesorios diseñados para zonas

específicas.

Nota: Es posible que el dispositivo deje de funcionar y aparezca un error si hay

suciedad en el conector del accesorio. Limpie los conectores de contacto cuando

suceda.

Para colocar el accesorio, simplemente insértelo en la ventanilla de salida de luz.

Accesorio para el cuerpo

El accesorio para el cuerpo tiene la ventana de tratamiento más grande y un

diseño para cubrir y tratar eficazmente las áreas por debajo del escote,

especialmente grandes áreas como piernas, brazos y estómago.

Accesorio facial (SC1997, SC1998, SC1999)

El accesorio facial tiene un filtro de vidrio rojo adicional integrado que permite

tratar con seguridad y precisión la piel sensible por encima del labio superior, la

barbilla y las patillas. Este dispositivo está diseñado exclusivamente para eliminar

el vello corporal no deseado de las zonas que se encuentran debajo de los

pómulos. Si utiliza el dispositivo en zonas con contornos afilados, como la

mandíbula y la barbilla, puede ser difícil establecer contacto completo con la piel

y liberar un pulso de luz.

Consejo: Coloque la lengua entre el labio superior y los dientes o hinche las

mejillas para facilitar el tratamiento.

Accesorio para zona del bikini (SC1998, SC1999)

El accesorio para la zona del bikini está diseñado para tratar esta parte del

cuerpo de forma eficaz. El vello de esta zona tiende a ser más grueso y fuerte

que el de las piernas.

Sensor de tono de piel

El dispositivo Lumea cuenta con un sensor integrado que mide el tono de la piel

al principio de cada sesión y durante esta.

El sensor de tono de piel impide que se traten áreas demasiado oscuras de la

piel. Si se detecta un tono de piel demasiado oscuro para el tratamiento con

Lumea, la luz "READY to flash" comenzará a parpadear en color naranja.

Además, no se emitirá ningún pulso al presionar el botón de emisión de pulsos

de luz. El dispositivo se desactiva automáticamente. Esto evita que se produzcan

reacciones cutáneas.

Selección de la intensidad de la luz

Lumea cuenta con 5intensidades de luz diferentes. Siempre podrá cambiar a un

ajuste de intensidad de luz que le resulte más cómodo.

1Pulsa el botón de encendido/apagado para encender el dispositivo y

seleccionar la intensidad de luz que desees.

2Para ajustar el nivel de intensidad de la luz, pulse el botón de

encendido/apagado hasta llegar al ajuste que desee.

La sensibilidad cutánea puede variar de unas personas a otras, por lo que la

prueba en la piel es la guía más importante para seleccionar el ajuste de

intensidad de luz (consulte "B Realiza una prueba sobre la piel 24horas antes

del tratamiento").

3El uso de Lumea nunca debe ser incómodamente doloroso. Reduzca el ajuste

de intensidad de la luz si experimenta molestias.

Nota: El dispositivo se desactiva automáticamente cuando el tono de piel es

demasiado oscuro (marrón oscuro u oscuro, marcado con en el cuadro de

"Tonos de piel adecuados" que figura al comienzo del manual del usuario),

para impedir que sufras reacciones cutáneas. El piloto "READY to flash"

parpadeará en color naranja para indicar que el tono de piel es demasiado

oscuro.

4Realiza una prueba de piel después de una exposición al solo o un bronceado

(consulte "Uso de Lumea antes y después de la exposición al sol o del

bronceado") o antes de cambiar a otra zona del cuerpo para determinar el

ajuste de intensidad de luz más cómodo. Para volver a activar la función de

indicación de ajuste, encienda el dispositivo.

Nota: Realiza una prueba de piel antes de empezar a tratar otra zona del cuerpo

o después de un cambio de tono de piel. Determine el ajuste de intensidad de

luz para cada área del cuerpo por separado.

Dos modos de tratamiento: "Paso y pulso" y

"deslizamiento y pulso"

PhilipsLumea tiene dos modos de tratamiento para un uso más cómodo en las

diferentes zonas del cuerpo:

-El modo Paso y pulso es ideal para tratar zonas pequeñaso con curvas tales

como rodillas y axilas. Simplemente presione y suelteel botón de emisión de

pulsos para generar un pulso.

-El modo de "Deslizamiento y pulso" proporciona un uso práctico para zonas

más grandes como las piernas. Mantenga presionado el botón de emisión de

pulsos mientras desliza el dispositivo sobre la pielpara emitir varios pulsos

Uso de Lumea antes y después de la exposición al

sol o del bronceado

Bronceado con luz solar natural o artificial

Exponer la piel a la luz solar natural o artificial puede dar lugar a un bronceado

que afecte a la sensibilidad y al color de la piel. Por lo tanto, la siguiente

información es muy importante:

-No expongas tu piel a la luz solar sin protección cuando estés usando Lumea.

Durante todo el periodo del tratamiento con luz pulsada intensa (IPL) y

especialmente en las primeras 48 horas después del tratamiento protege tu

piel de la luz solar con ropa o aplica productos de protección solar de no

menos de SPF50 en las áreas del tratamiento no cubiertas.

-No comiences a utilizar ni reanudes el uso de Lumea dentro de las cuatro

semanas siguientes a la exposición de tu piel a luz solar sin protección (luz

solar natural o cama de bronceado).

-No utilice Lumea en zonas del cuerpo quemadas por el sol.

Bronceado con cremas, pulverizadores o pastillas

Si te has autobronceado (cremas, pulverizadores o pastillas), espera al menos

dos semanas antes de usar el dispositivo. Realiza una prueba en la piel antes de

comenzar o reanudar el tratamiento con Lumea (consulte "B Realiza una prueba

sobre la piel 24horas antes del tratamiento").

De viaje con el dispositivo

Si viaja con el dispositivo, consulte a las líneas aéreas para confirmar si el

dispositivo se puede transportar o utilizar en el avión.

Después del uso

Cuidado tras el tratamiento

Después del tratamiento, puedes aplicar lociones, cremas, desodorantes,

humectantes o cosméticos en las zonas tratadas.

Advertencia: Si experimentas irritación o enrojecimiento en la piel

después del tratamiento, espera hasta que desaparezca antes de

aplicar cualquier tipo de producto sobre la piel. Si experimentas

irritación en la piel después de aplicar algún producto, enjuágala

con agua. Si sigue teniendo reacciones cutáneas, deje de usar el

dispositivo y consulte a su médico.

Reacciones cutáneas comunes

La piel puede mostrar un leve enrojecimiento y puede sentir un cosquilleo,

hormigueo o calor. Esta reacción desaparece rápidamente.

La piel podría quedar seca y con picazón a causa del afeitado o por combinar el

afeitado con el tratamiento con luz. Puede refrescar la zona con hielo o con una

toallita húmeda. Si la sequedad persiste, puede aplicar una crema hidratante no

perfumada en la zona tratada.

Efectos secundarios poco frecuentes

-Quemaduras, rojez (p. ej., alrededor de los folículos capilares) o hinchazón

excesiva: estas reacciones aparecen con muy poca frecuencia. Son el

resultado de utilizar una intensidad de luz demasiado alta para su tono de

piel. Si estas reacciones no desaparecen en 3 días, le aconsejamos que acuda

a un médico. Espere a que la piel se haya curado completamente antes de

iniciar el siguiente tratamiento y asegúrese de utilizar una intensidad de luz

menor.

-Decoloración de la piel: se produce en contadas ocasiones. La decoloración

de la piel se manifiesta con zonas más oscuras (hiperpigmentación) o más

claras (hipopigmentación) que la piel de alrededor. Este es el resultado de

utilizar una intensidad de luz demasiado alta para su tono de piel. Si la

decoloración no desaparece en 2 semanas, le recomendamos que acuda a un

médico. No trate estas zonas hasta que la decoloración haya desaparecido y

su piel haya vuelto a su tono normal.

-Una infección de la piel es extremadamente rara, no obstante, es un riesgo

posible después de una (pequeña) herida en la piel, quemadura, irritación de

la piel, etc.

-Calentamiento epidérmico (una zona de color marrón, definida, que puede

aparecer en tonos de piel oscuros, no necesariamente acompañada de

sequedad): esta reacción se produce en contadas ocasiones. Si la reacción no

desaparece en 1 semana, le recomendamos que acuda a un médico. Espere a

que la piel se haya curado completamente antes de iniciar el siguiente

tratamiento y asegúrese de utilizar una intensidad de luz menor.

-Ampollas por quemaduras (pequeñas ampollas en la superficie de la piel): se

produce en contadas ocasiones. Si la reacción no desaparece en 1 mes o la

piel se infecta, le recomendamos que acuda a un médico. Espere a que la piel

se haya curado completamente antes de iniciar el siguiente tratamiento y

asegúrese de utilizar una intensidad de luz menor.

-Marcas: un efecto secundario común de las quemaduras; puede tardar más

de un mes en curarse.

-Foliculitis (hinchazón alrededor de los folículos capilares combinada con la

aparición de pústulas): esta reacción se produce en contadas ocasiones y se

debe a la penetración de bacterias en la piel dañada. Si la reacción aparece, le

recomendamos que acuda a un médico, ya que la foliculitis puede requerir la

administración de antibióticos.

-Dolor: esto puede suceder durante o después del tratamiento si ha utilizado

el dispositivo sobre la piel sin afeitar, si lo utiliza con una intensidad de luz

demasiado alta para su tono de piel, si enfoca la misma zona más de una vez

y si lo utiliza en heridas abiertas, inflamaciones, infecciones, tatuajes,

quemaduras, etc.

zonas: En lunares, pecas, venas varicosas,

zonas de pigmentación más oscura,

cicatrices o anomalías cutáneas, sin

consultar antes con su médico. No utilices

nunca el dispositivo en verrugas, tatuajes o

maquillaje permanente, alrededor de los

ojos, en las cejas o cerca de ellas, en los

labios, perineo, cuero cabelludo, pezones,

areolas, labios menores, vagina, ano y el

interior de las fosas nasales o las orejas. Los

hombres no deben utilizarlo en la cara y el

cuello, incluidas las zonas donde crece

barba, ni en toda la zona genital. El

tratamiento puede ocasionar quemaduras

y cambios en el color de la piel, lo que

podría dificultar la identificación de

enfermedades dermatológicas.

La piel está más sensible de

lo normal durante el

tratamiento. Noto una

molestia cuando utilizo el

dispositivo.
