This will switch off the heating element and display. Then remove plug from wall outlet. • Do not use appliance for other than intended use. • Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the heating cycle. • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible or their safety. • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. SAVEThisTHESE INSTRUCTIONS. product is for household use only. GROUNDED PLUG As a safety feature, this product is equipped with a grounded plug, which will only fit into a three-prong outlet. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature. Improper connection of the grounding conductor may result in the risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW Warning: this appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done only by authorized service personnel. ELECTRICAL CORD 1) A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. 2) Extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. 3) If an extension cord is used: a) The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance; b) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord; and c) The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over. Note: If the power cord is damaged, please contact the warranty department listed in these instructions. HOW TO USE This product is for household use only BEFORE USING YOUR KETTLE • To register your product, go to www.prodprotect.com/blackanddecker. • Remove all packing materials, any stickers and the plastic band around the power plug. • Wash all parts as instructed in Care and Cleaning section. • Select a level surface where this unit is to be used allowing enough space for steam to escape without damage to counters, cabinets and walls. • Fill kettle to maximum fill line with cold water. Bring to boil, discard and repeat. Kettle is now ready for use. Note: The kettle only operates when placed on the swivel base and after the button has been pressed. The kettle automatically shuts off when there is no water in the kettle. FILLING THE KETTLE 1. Remove the kettle from the swivel base. 2. Pull the lid release to open the lid. 3. Fill with desired amount of cold tap water. 4. Make sure the removable filter is in place inside the pour spout (see BUILT-IN SCALE PROTECTION). Close the lid. 5. Unwind cord from swivel base. 6. Place the kettle securely on the swivel base. Important: Do not… • operate the kettle without water • operate the kettle without the filter in place • overfill the kettle (keep water level below the max fill line on the water window) • open the lid while water is heating BOILING WATER 1. Fill kettle with desired amount of cold water - DO NOT overfill. Place kettle on base; plug into power outlet. 2. Press the power button . The power button will glow and the display will illuminate. If you don’t press any more buttons, the kettle will boil the water and then turn itself off. While the kettle is heating, the symbol will show in the display. HEATING WATER TO TEMPERATURES LOWER THAN BOILING The default temperature that the kettle will heat the water to is set at boiling (100°C/212°F). To heat water to a lower temperature, after filling the kettle with water and pressing the power button, press the or button until it shows a temperature you want. The kettle will heat the water while displaying , and then turn itself off. The available temperature selection range is in increments between 40°C/104°F and 100°C/212°F. Note: To change between Celsius and Fahrenheit, press and hold the button for 3 seconds. KEEP WARM FEATURE To keep the water at the temperature* you set it, go through the steps outlined above to begin heating the water. While the water is heating, press button. The icon in the display will be visible while the water the is heating, and pulse on and off while it is in Keep Warm mode. The kettle will remain in Keep Warm mode for 1 hour and then turn itself off. Feel free to remove the kettle from the stand to pour water then replace it. The kettle will retain the Keep Warm setting while it’s off the base for up to 45 seconds. *The Keep Warm setting is not available for the boiling temperature (100°C/212°F) because the kettle would boil itself dry. CHANGING TEMPERATURE Once the kettle has reached the temperature that you set, it can only heat to a higher temperature. The kettle doesn’t have a cooling function. If you need the water to be a lower temperature, either empty the hot water from the kettle and replace it with new cold water, or allow the water to cool. TIP: Open the kettle lid to cool faster. SWITCHING OFF The display turns off after it reaches the set temperature or the Keep Warm hour is complete. To switch off manually during heating or Keep Warm, press and release the button. This will switch off the heating element and display, and put the kettle into standby mode. To save electricity, unplug the stand. BUILT-IN SCALE PROTECTION Note: Lime scale forms over time in the kettle when water is heated. Though harmless, it may be bothersome. The concealed heating element in the kettle is designed to help reduce scale buildup. The kettle has a removable filter at the bottom of the pour spout to prevent particles from pouring into your beverage. • Always have the removable filter in place just behind the spout when using the kettle. CARE AND CLEANING This product contains no user serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified service personnel. CLEANING 1. Before cleaning, be sure the base is unplugged and the kettle has cooled completely. Empty any remaining water from the kettle. 2. Pull out the removable filter for cleaning. Wash the filter with warm water and dish soap and rinse or place it in the utensil holder of the dishwasher. 3. Wash the inside of the kettle with warm water and dish soap and rinse. Important: Never immerse the kettle in water or other liquids or place in a dishwasher. 4. Wipe exterior of the kettle and base with a damp cloth or sponge and dry. Note: The heating element at the bottom of the interior may discolor over time. This will not affect performance. Do not use abrasive soaps, cleansers, or scouring pads on the kettle. Note: Over time, the kettle may heat up but will not boil. When this happens, it is time for descaling. TO DESCALE • Fill kettle with 4 cups cold tap water and bring to a boil. • Add 2 cups white vinegar, let stand for at least 1 hour or overnight and discard. • Fill kettle to maximum fill line with cold water. CABLE ELÉCTRICO 1) Un cable de alimentación corto es provisto para reducir los riesgos de enredarse o tropezar con un cable más largo. 2) Existen cables de extensión disponibles y estos pueden ser utilizados si se toma el cuidado debido en su uso. 3) Si se utiliza un cable de extensión: a) La clasificación eléctrica marcada del cable de extensión debe ser, como mínimo, igual a la clasificación eléctrica del aparato; b) Si el aparato es del tipo de conexión a tierra, el cable de extensión debe ser un cable de tres alambres de conexión a tierra; y c) El cable debe ser acomodado de manera que no cuelgue del mostrador o de la mesa para evitar que un niño tire del mismo o que alguien se tropiece sin darse cuenta. Nota: Si el cable de alimentación está dañado, por favor llame al número del departamento de garantía que aparece en estar instrucciones. COMO USAR Este product es solamente para uso doméstico. ANTES DE USAR SU HERVIDOR • Retiere todo material de empaque, etiquetas y la tira plástica alrededor del enchufe. • Por favor, visite www.prodprotect.com/blackanddecker para registrar su garantía. • Lave todas las piezas según las instrucciones en la sección de CUIDADO Y LIMPIEZA. • Escoja una superficie nivelada donde la unidad va a ser utilizada, dejando suficiente espacio para que el vapor escape sin dañar los mostradores, gabinetes o las paredes. • Llene el hervidor con agua fría hasta la línea de llenado máxima. Deje hervir, deseche el agua y repita el procedimiento. El hervidor ya está listo para ser utilizado. Nota: El hervidor solo funcionará cuando es colocado en la base giratoria y depués de haber presionado el botón . El hervidor se apagará automáticamente cuando no tiene agua. PARA LLENAR EL HERVIDOR 1. Retire el hervidor de la base giratoria. 2. Sujete y hale la lengüeta en el centro de la tapa para liberar la tapa y abrirla. 3. Llene el hervidor con la cantidad de agua fría de llave deseada. 4. Asegúrese de que el filtro removible esté colocado en su lugar, dentro de la boquilla (vea la sección de PROTECCIÓN INTEGRADA CONTRA EL SARRO). Cierre la tapa. 5. Desenrrolle el cable en la parte de abajo de la base giratoria. 6. Coloque el hervidor, asegurado en la base giratoria. Nota: No... • haga funcionar el hervidor sin agua. • haga funcionar sin el filtro removible en el espacio • llene el hervidor demasiado – mantenga el nivel del agua debajo de la línea del nivel máximo. • destape la cubierta mientras el agua se está calentando. PARA HERVIR AGUA 1. Llene el hervidor con la cantidad de agua deseada. NO lo llene demasiado. Coloque el hervido en la base; enchúfelo a un tomacorriente. 2. Presione el botón de funcionamiento . El botón de funcionamiento brillará y la pantalla se iluminará. Si usted no presiona ningún otro botón, el hervidor hervirá el agua y luego se apagará automáticamente. Mientras el hervidor está calentando, el símbolo aparecerá en la pantalla. CÓMO CALENTAR AGUA A TEMPERATURAS MÁS BAJAS QUE LA TEMPERATURA DE EBULLICIÓN La temperatura por defecto en la que el hervidor calentará el agua está fijada a temperatura de ebullición (100°C/212°F). Para calentar el agua a una temperatura más baja, después de llenar el hervidor con agua y presionar el botón de funcionamiento, presione el botón o hasta que aparezca la temperatura deseada. El hervidor calienta el agua mientras que muestra (H) y luego se apaga automáticamente. La selección de las diferentes temperaturas son disponibles en incrementos de entre 40°C/104°F y 100°C/212°F. Nota: Para cambiar entre Celsius y Fahrenheit, presione y sostenga el botón por 3 segundos. FUNCIÓN DE MANTENER CALIENTE Para mantener el agua a la temperatura* seleccionada, siga los pasos descritos anteriormente para comenzar a calentar el agua. Mientras el agua se calienta, presione el botón . El icono en la pantalla será mostrado mientras el agua se calienta y parapadeará durante el modo de mantener caliente. El hervidor se mantendrá en el modo de mantener caliente por 1 hora y luego se apagará automáticamente. Cuando lo desee, puede retirar el hervidor de la base para verter agua y luego colóquelo de nuevo en su lugar. El hervidor se mantendrá en el modo de mantener caliente mientras está apagado por hasta 45 segundos. *El modo de mantener caliente no está disponible en la temperatura de ebullición (100°C/212°F) debido a que el hervidor podría hervir en seco. CÓMO CAMBIAR LA TEMPERATURA Una vez que el hervidor alcance la temperatura seleccionada, éste solo podrá calentar a una temperatura más alta. El hervidor no cuenta con una función de enfriamiento. Si necesita el agua a una temperatura más baja, vacíe el agua caliente del hervidor y sustituya con agua fría o deje que el agua se enfríe. CONSEJO: Abra la tapa del hervidor para que se enfríe más rápido. CÓMO APAGAR EL HERVIDOR La pantalla se apaga después de alcanzar la temperatura seleccionada o cuando el modo de mantener caliente llega a una hora. Para apagar el hervidor manualmente durante el ciclo de calentamiento o el modo de mantener caliente, presione y suelte el botón . Esto apagará el elemento de calor y la pantalla, y el hervidor pasará al modo de espera. Para ahorrar electricidad, desenchufe la base. PROTECCION INCORPORADA CONTRA EL SARRO Nota: Cuando se calienta agua, con el tiempo se forman depósitos de calcio. Aunque es inofensivo puede resultar molesto. El elemento de calentamiento protegido en el hervidor está diseñado para ayudar a reducir la acumulación de sarro. El hervidor tiene un filtro de sarro en el fondo de la boquilla para prevenir que se viertan partículas en su bebida. • Cuando esté usando el hervidor, siempre mantenga el filtro removible en su lugar, justo detrás de la boquilla. CUIDADO Y LIMPIEZA Este aparato no contiene piezas reparables por el consumidor. Para servicio, por favor acuda a personal calificado. LIMPIEZA 1. Antes de limpiarlo, asegúrese de que la base esté desenchufada y de que el hervidor se haya enfriado completamente. Deseche el agua que quede en el hervidor. 2. Remueva el filtro para limpiarlo. Lávelo con agua caliente y líquido de fregar y enjuáguelo o colóquelo en el sostenedor de utensilios de la máquina lavaplatos. 3. Lave el interior del hervidor con agua caliente y líquido de fregar y enjuáguelo. Importante: Nunca sumerja el hervidor en agua o en ningun otro líquido ni lo coloque en la máquina lavaplatos. 4. Limpie el exterior del hervidor y la base con un paño húmedo o esponja y séquelos. Nota: Es posible que el elemento de calor en la parte inferior del interior se decolore con el transcurso del tiempo. Esto no afectará el rendimiento. No utilice detergentes abrasivos, limpiadores o almohadilla con fibras metálicas en el hervidor. Nota: Con el transcurso del tiempo, el hervidor puede que caliente pero no hierva. Cuando esto suceda, es tiempo de descalcificar. PARA DESCALCIFICAR • Llene el hervidor con 4 tazas de agua fría de la llave y deje que hierva. • Añada 2 tazas de vinagre blanco, deje reposar como mínimo por 1 hora o durante la noche y deseche. • Llene el hervidor hasta la línea de llenado máxima. Deje que hierva, deseche y repita. El hervidor ya está listo para ser utilizado. NECESITA AYUDA Para servicio, reparaciones o preguntas relacionadas al producto, por favor llame al número del centro de servicio que se indica para el país donde usted compró su producto. NO devuélva el producto al fabricante. Llame o lleve el producto a un centro de servicio autorizado.
