Flammable refrigerant used. Do not puncture refrigerant tubing. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) whose physical, sensory or mental capabilities may be different or reduced, or who lack experience or knowledge, unless such persons receive supervision or training to operate the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. • Do not use mechanical devices to defrost refrigerator. • Ensure that servicing is done by factory authorized service personnel, to minimize product damage or safety issues. GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING: Keep ventilation openings, in the appliance enclosure or in the built-in structure, clear of obstruction. This appliance must be grounded. Grounding reduces the risk of electrical shock by providing an escape wire for the electrical current. WARNING: Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting process, other than those recommended by the manufacturer. This appliance has a cord that has a grounding wire with a 3-prong plug. The power cord must be plugged into an outlet that is properly grounded. If the outlet is a 2-prong wall outlet, it must be replaced with a properly grounded 3-prong wall outlet. The serial rating plate indicates the voltage and frequency the appliance is designed for. WARNING: Do not damage the refrigerant circuit. WARNING: Do not use electrical appliances inside the food storage compartments of the appliance, unless they are of the type recommended by the manufacturer. WARNING - Improper use of the grounding plug can result in a risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician or service agent if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if doubt exists as to whether the appliance is properly grounded. CAUTION: Risk of fire or explosion. Flammable refrigerant used. • Consult repair manual or owner’s guide before attempting to service this product. All safety precautions must be followed. • Dispose of properly in accordance with federal or local regulations. • Follow handling instructions carefully. Do not connect your appliance to extension cords or together with another appliance in the same wall outlet. Do not splice the power cord. Do not under any circumstances cut or remove the third ground prong from the power cord. Do not use extension cords or ungrounded (two prongs) adapters. CAUTION: Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. DANGER: Risk of child entrapment. Before throwing away an old appliance: If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similar qualified person in order to avoid hazard. • Remove the door or lid. • Leave shelves in place so that children may not easily climb inside. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS! 2 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS LOCATION FEATURES • Two people should be used when moving the appliance. 1. Freezer Compartment with Freezer Door: Separate freezer section can hold small items. • Remove interior and exterior packaging prior to installation. Wipe the outside of the appliance with a soft, dry cloth and the inside with a lukewarm wet cloth. 2. Thermostat Dial: Controls the temperature inside the refrigerator. 3. Drip Tray: Catches the water that drips off the evaporator when defrosting. • Place the appliance on a floor that is strong enough to support it when it is fully loaded. 4. Glass Shelves • Do not place the appliance in direct sunlight or near sources of heat, such as a stove or heater, as this can increase electrical consumption. Extreme cold ambient temperatures may also cause the appliance to perform improperly. 5. CANSTORTM Door Liner: Holds 355 ml cans of pop, juice or beer. 6. Bottle Racks: For tall, small and medium cans or jars. • Do not use the appliance near water, for example in a wet basement or near a sink. 7. Magnetic Gasket: Tight fitting door seal keeps all the cooling power locked inside. No hooks or latches. • This appliance is intended for household use only. It is not designed for outside installation, including anywhere that is not temperature controlled (garages, porches, vehicles, etc.). 8. Leveling Leg: Adjust so the unit is level. • Before connecting the appliance to a power source, let it stand upright for approximately 6 hours. This will reduce the possibility of a malfunction in the cooling system from handling during transportation. 5 2 1 3 • This appliance is 47.4 cm (18.7 inches) wide by 63.6 cm (25.1 inches) high by 44.7 cm (17.6 inches) deep. Make sure that you leave the minimum amount of space between the appliance and all surrounding walls and vents. 6 4 • Allow 12.7 cm (5 inches) of space between the back, sides and top of the appliance and all adjacent walls. 7 8 • This appliance is intended for free-standing installation only and is not intended to be built into a cabinet or counter. Building in this appliance can cause it to malfunction. LEVELING INSTRUCTIONS There is an adjustable leg on the bottom of the appliance that can be turned up or down to ensure that the appliance is level. 1. Turn the leveling leg counter-clockwise as far as it will go, until the top of the foot is touching the bottom of the cabinet. 2. Slowly turn the leveling leg clockwise until the appliance is level. 3 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS TEMPERATURE SELECTION DEFROSTING THE APPLIANCE The temperature of the appliance can be adjusted by turning the thermostat dial. The range of temperature controls is from position “OFF”, or no cooling, to “7”, the coldest setting. The setting “4” should be satisfactory for home use. This appliance should be defrosted approximately every 6 months or whenever the layer of frost in the freezer compartment reaches 6 mm (1/4”) thick.  OFF Remember to protect your floors during the defrosting process by putting towels or a pan under the appliance in case of leaking.   • Remove all food and set the thermostat to the “OFF” position. • Unplug the appliance and leave the door open.    • Ensure that the drip tray is under the evaporator to collect melted water.  • After the frost has melted, discard the melted water and leave the unit off with the door open until the interior of the refrigerator is dry. ICE CUBE TRAY • After defrosting is complete, set the temperature control to maximum for 2 to 3 hours before returning to the desired temperature setting. The ice cube tray is flexible. Twist the tray to remove the ice cubes. If the ice cube tray becomes frozen solid to the surface of the freezer, run a little water over the tray to release it. Never use a knife or other metal instruments to remove the ice cube tray or ice build up as this may damage the evaporator. If the refrigerator will not be used for a long period of time, disconnect the appliance from the electrical supply and leave the door partially open. This will help reduce mold and mildew build-up. IMPORTANT Never use sharp or pointed instruments to remove ice from the freezer compartment. The freezer compartment contains refrigerated gas lines. If these lines are accidentally pierced it will render the refrigerator inoperable and void the manufacturer’s warranty. Do not allow the refrigerator to continue operation if the freezer compartment is pierced. 4 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS DOOR REVERSAL INSTRUCTIONS If the appliance is placed on its back or side for any length of time during this process, it must be allowed to remain upright for 6 hours before plugging it in to avoid damage to the internal components. 1 1. Remove the plastic hole covers located on the top left side of the refrigerator as shown in Fig. 1. 2 2. Remove the upper hinge cover and the upper hinge on the right side of the refrigerator, as shown in Fig. 2. 3. Remove the door from the lower hinge pin by pulling it gently upwards. Remove the lower hinge bracket on the right side of the unit and remove the leveling foot on the left side. Reverse their positions as shown in Fig. 3. 3 4. Install the lower hinge on the left side of the refrigerator. Install the adjustable foot on the right side of the refrigerator as shown in Fig. 4. 5. Move the door bushing to the left and the plastic hole cover to the right as shown in Fig. 5. 4 6. If there is a door stopper, move it from the right side of the appliance to the left as shown in Fig. 6. If there are two door stoppers, there is no need to move them. Install the door onto the lower hinge pin, now located on the left side of the appliance. 7. Install the upper hinge and hinge cover on the left side of the unit. Place the plastic hole covers in the holes on the right side of the top of the refrigerator to cover the screw holes as shown in Fig. 7. 5 Note: When installing the door, ensure that the top of the door is level with the top of the cabinet. If the door is not level, the rubber gasket will not make a good seal with the cabinet which can cause the appliance to malfunction. 6 7 5 CARE & MAINTENANCE CLEANING ENERGY SAVING TIP Ensure the appliance is unplugged before cleaning. The appliance should be located in the coolest area of the room, away from heat producing appliances, and out of direct sunlight. Do not overload the unit or block any ventilation openings. • To clean the inside of the appliance, use a soft cloth and a solution of one tablespoon of baking soda to one quart of water or a mild detergent solution. • Wash removable shelves in a mild detergent solution, then dry and wipe with a soft cloth. • Clean the outside with a soft, damp cloth and some mild detergent. • It is important to keep the area clean where the door seals against the cabinet. Clean this area with a soapy cloth. Rinse with a damp cloth and let dry. MOVING • Remove all contents. • Securely tape down all shelves inside the appliance. • Turn the adjustable leg up to the base to avoid damage. • Tape the door shut. • Be sure the appliance stays secure in the upright position during transportation. Protect the outside of the appliance with a blanket. • If the appliance is placed on its back or side during transportation, upon reaching the destination, allow it to remain upright for 6 hours before plugging in to avoid damage to internal components. Note: Do not use cleaners containing ammonia or alcohol on the appliance. Ammonia or alcohol can damage the appearance of the appliance. Never use any commercial or abrasive cleaners or sharp objects on any part of the appliance. POWER FAILURE DISPOSAL Most power failures are corrected within a few hours and should not affect the temperature of your appliance if you minimize the number of times the door is opened. If the power is going to be off for a longer period of time, take the proper steps to protect your contents. This appliance may not be treated as regular household waste, it should be taken to the appropriate waste collection point for recycling of electrical components. For information on local waste collection points, contact your local waste removal agency or government office. Note: Wait 3 to 5 minutes before attempting to restart the refrigerator if operation has been interrupted. VACATION • Short vacations: Leave the appliance operating during vacations of less than three weeks. • Long vacations: If the appliance will not be used for several months, remove all items and turn off the appliance. Clean and dry the interior thoroughly. Compartiment congélateur muni d’une porte: La section séparée du congélateur peut contenir des articles de petite dimension. • Retirer l ‘emballage intérieur et extérieur avant l’ installation. Essuyez l’extérieur de l’appareil avec un chiffon doux et sec et à l’intérieur avec un chiffon humide tiède. 2. Cadran du thermostat: Régle la température intérieure du réfrigérateur. 3. Plateau de dégivrage : Récupère l’eau qui dégoutte de l’évaporateur pendant le dégivrage. • Placez votre appareil sur un plancher qui est assez fort pour le soutenir quand il est complètement chargé. 4. Si le réfrigérateur ne doit pas être utilisé pendant une longue période, débranchez l’appareil de l’alimentation électrique et laissez la porte partiellement ouverte. Cela aidera à réduire l’accumulation de moisissures. IMPORTANT N’utiliser jamais des ustensiles tranchants ou aiguisés pour enlever la glace du compartiment de congélation. Installez le pied de nivellement sur le côté droit du réfrigérateur comme indiqué sur la Figure 4. 4 5. Déplacez le manchon mâle-femelle de la porte à la gauche (illustré à la droite dans Figure 5) et déplacez le couvercle en plastique du trou à la droite (illustré à la gauche dans Figure 5). 6. S’il y a un bouchon de porte, déplacez-le du côté droit de l’appareil vers la gauche, comme indiqué sur la Figure. 6. S’il y a deux bouchons de porte, il n’est pas nécessaire de les déplacer. Nettoyez cette zone avec un chiffon savonneux. Rincez avec un chiffon humide et laissez sécher. Remarque: N’utilisez pas de produits nettoyants comprenant de l’ammoniaque ou de l’alcool sur l’appareil. L’ammoniaque ou l’alcool peuvent altérer le fini de l’appareil. N’utilisez jamais de nettoyant industriels sur aucune partie de votre appareil. PANNE DE COURANT La plupart des pannes de courant ne durent que quelques heures et ne devraient pas modifier la température de votre l’appareil si vous réduisez au maximum le nombre de fois où la porte est ouverte.
